chest binders can be hard to obtain in the zones. i mean, of course you’ll see them around, but they aren’t always safe, and you have to keep looking. although, as long as you can get talk a bit with an afab person who wears one, they can usually point you in the right direction.

the majority of vendors who sell genuinely safe ones will usually only sell them to you if it’s a size up from your size, knowing how taxing all the fights and heat can get, especially with how long you might be wearing it.

but just because it might be hard to scrape together the materials for one, doesn’t mean they aren’t like everything else in the zones. exploding with vibrant neon colour. all types of patterns, colours, and pride flags can usually be seen, and i’d be lying if i hadn’t seen some pretty impressive designs.

one year around christmas time, kobra and jet went out to HyperThrust for a couple beers. on the way back, they saw a joshua tree strung with shining holiday lights. thats a pretty sight on its own, but the fact that they were lit with no source of power at all made it even better. ghoul thinks its just a story they made up to cheer up the girl, but ghoul is Wrong

Grave Robbers

Because supplies in the zones can be scarce (including clothing), grave robbing was be a big issue. Killjoys would steal boots, jackets, helmets, anything useful. Nowadays graves are unmarked to try and limit the grave robbing, or the friends/family of the deceased will take the belongings and keep them for sentimental value.

killjoys get ghosted all the time, sometimes in the blink of an eye. especially musicians or really any other high profile killjoys because they give the zones hope. but sometimes, when killjoys find music of someone whose been dusted, they dedicate themselves to their message and music, and put together a new band to keep playing their music, even after they’re gone. which is why even years after the death of St. Jimmy, you can hear King For A Day clear as fuck for as much as miles away.

Zone Gothic

-You’re going to a Mad Gear show tonight, it’s the same show that started this morning. Mad Gear has a show tomorrow morning, it’s the same show you’re at right now. You don’t know when you got here. Are you going to the Mad Gear show tonight?

-You saw a flash of black and white behind you. You didn’t have your gun, so you ducked for cover behind a vending machine at the rest stop. By the time the sky darkens, you forget why you even hid there in the first place. It’s been quiet the whole time. There is a burn mark and a stain of blood on the ground.

-You pass a neutral town on your way to Zone 5. It’s empty. There are no cars. There are no patrols. On your way back, it’s not there anymore.

-You find an android scrapped along route guano. You help him repair the wires in his arm and give him a ride to a friend’s place. Afterwards, you realize you never caught his name, and you didn’t recognize his model. You feel an especially warm feeling as you pass by the body of Destroya.

-There is a working television broadcasting a MouseKat cartoon behind Tommy Chow Mein’s. There’s nowhere it could be plugged in. There is no signal. There is no battery slot. This cartoon is the same one you saw as a kid. 

-Your blaster is out of juice. There’s a draculoid closing in on a ‘joy behind you. You shoot a ray at full power and hit the drac square on. They thank you. It’s still out of juice, but you don’t say anything. Don’t jinx it.

-You turn on your radio on to a station you’ve never heard before. Voices crackle through static, but nothing is clear until you hear your mothers name. You can’t find the station again.

Headcanons about how pornodroids work in the city:

-They’re housed together in small, unkept apartments. They’re typically 1 room apartments expected to fit at least two droids. Because they’re considered objects, BLI does not find it necessary to provide comfort.

-They’re given rations of Plus weekly. BLI will not accommodate if Plus rations are lost or stolen. If they go through the excessive work needed to build up tips, they’ll be extremely low on plus by the end of the week.

-100% of the profit of their work goes to BLI, besides tips. Tips can be used to purchase clothes and accessories to make themselves more appealing to clients. Droids are prohibited from buying basically anything other than fashion items and extra Plus.

-It is illegal for a droid to have savings of more than 200 carbons. If they’re found with savings over 200 carbons, all will be confiscated as penalty. 

Basically, they’re exploited for money, and any money they have ends up back with BLI either through confiscation or purchases. The money from the purchases goes to BLI, and whatever they purchase must be intended to bring more money in.
