The Bizly trope is GRIEF and a deeply internalised self-hatred.

There is either s gaping wound in their chest where a loved one was violently torn from their heart. OR a belief that they are something undeserving of love because destruction is all that they leave in their wake.

Volatile, lonely people in a world of glass that cuts deep.

My hot take is that I honestly wouldn't mind if Milo also joined the paused campaigns. At the current point each story is at, it would be fairly easy to implement a new character in the same way WD was introduced.

Emizel could come across Milo's character while he finds his way to Shilo and Arthur in Romania after the time-skip. Similarly in Riptide, Milo's character could aid Jay's travel to the front lines of Lizzie's battle with the Navy.

Prime Defenders was a bit more difficult to figure, but her character could easily be a member of WATCH that was assigned to the same mission as them because some kind of special expertise, or a vigilante that stumbled upon the same case.

I like the idea that Gill was 5”1 at the start of riptide and has been slowly getting taller every episode. He is part leviathan after all, and tritons live for hundreds of years.

Sure he’s his retconned height of 5”9 now, but by the post-finale epilogue episode he’ll be the size of a small commercial aeroplane.

I think the Brooks would be the type to subject him to the troubled teen industrial complex.

Seen these be passed around as teasers for a scrapped season 3.

They are actually from a 2017 photoshoot for Harper’s Bazaar!

The greater adhesion to the costuming and overall visual style of the first two seasons, can be attributed to this issue of the magazine coinciding with promotion for season 2. The photoshoot I believe was done by a Micheal Avedon, and the stylist is sadly uncredited at least in the online version of the article I was able to find (I don’t know about the models, but the costumes on Finn and Noah perfectly capture Adams, Turzanska, and Wilcox’s work as designers on those seasons!).

I especially love this last photo! It most resembles a real poster for the first two seasons, and I’d unironically put this up on my wall if I found an issue at my local newsagents.

Anyway, thought I’d upload this to correct misinformation I was seeing floating around of photoshopped versions of these originals being costume fittings for a scrapped version of season 3 that was more inline with s1&2’s creative direction. As much as I hate to be a party pooper, I felt this was important to hold up for the sake of creating an accurate record of this show’s history.

Massive kudos to lexx_webber on threads for being the first source I was able to find clarifying this information!

Not Charlie accidentally paralleling the scene where Gill swims to the bottom of the pool in that cave on the isle of ire, as he considers the weight of his choice to damn the world, to turn his back on everything that he was raise to be, all for the happiness of one person.

When riptide finished, I'd love for Grizz to release a setting source book for Mana, something in the vein of explorer's guide to wildemount.

I feel riptide's worldbuilding is fleshed out enough that one could easily run their own campaign in the same setting. We could get the same for wonderlust, as Bizly mentioned in just rolled eps that he's run the setting before as a home game.

I'm just saying; commission a couple more artists to do the characters, monsters & maps, put it up on the web store as a downloadable pdf for enough to recoup those costs. Quality, affordable merch.

I honestly could write a whole treatise on Riptide and how you can extrapolate really interesting anti-colonial/anti-fascist narratives from the text.

But then I’d have to bring up historic mis-appropriation of sun wheels, and I’d sound completely insane because ‘the text’ is a fucking improv show run by twitch streamers.
