I went on a little trip to visit some friends and decided to try out some of the yoga studios.. I have previously tried Jivamukti NYC and was hungry to go back - since this is my favourite type of yoga and the Union Square studio is one not to be missed.. The large bookshop, vegan cafe and huge yoga studios with the best matts I have ever tried is a dream.. Everything about it I love apart from Union Square (It's a bit loud and noisy!)
I was staying this trip in Brooklyn and was recommended to try the Kula Yoga Project. I did the 3 classes for $30 deal and went three consecutive days.. This studio is lush - there are two studios although only tried out the Williamsburg studio. I was loving in the wooden floorboards, fresh juices, huge high ceilings and that was even before I tried the classes. The two teachers that I had teach me were Stephanie on two occasions and Alyona. Alyona was just magical, her talent for teaching was so natural - this was definitely not a beginners class but although there were tricky parts of this I loved every minute of it and the flow was so interesting that the tricky bits were just as fun.. Stephanie was a gentler pace but lots variety and considering I did her class twice in one week this was not repetitive and there were challenging inversions - arm balances, handstands and headstands.. Stephanie was really great at explaining and when I asked assistance with my headstand she was really quick to see and correct me where I was going wrong.. Overall for me a 10/10!
