My previous request also got me thinking about ADA caregivers in general… Kunikida and little Atsushi perhaps?

I love this! The ADA is really just like a big family… So sorry it took so long to get to this! Your comment about your “last request” probably seems irrelevant now- But it was the request for caregiver Fukuzawa and little Ranpo! I still remember!

✧₊⁺ I think at first these two were very incompatible. Atsushi is so nervous and scared of everything that he just does what he’s told, while Kunikida sets rules, expecting to just be told if there’s an issue. Atsushi would never dare speak up against a “superior”, so it just goes badly. Simple things like uncomfortable clothes, objects for the wrong headspace age. Or bigger, triggering things such as a time out. They have a bunch of issues at first, Kunikida not realizing what’s wrong

☆ However once Kunikida noticed he’s instantly on it! While Atsushi’s in a big headspace he sits down to have a talk, explaining that he’d like to be told when there’s an issue, explaining he isn’t mad. Then Kunikida asks for Atsushi’s opinion on everything! Which outfit feels better? Sippy cup or a bottle? And truthfully Atsushi is well behaved, he never really needs a time out, but on the rare occasion he does Kunikida would sit next to him and hold his hand, calmly explaining what Atsushi did wrong and offering up ways to better express his emotions or thoughts in the future

✧₊⁺ Atsushi is a very clingy little boy! He always wants to have contact with Kunikida in some way, preferably sitting in his lap! Atsushi is pretty happy to do whatever! Kunikida tries keeping things educational, giving Atsushi word searches or mazes to do. Color by numbers not just random coloring sheets. Puzzles or generally puzzle adjacent toys. Anything educational! And Atsushi is happy to comply! Sometimes he needs to ask for help… But the way Kunikida explains it without telling him the answer makes him so proud whenever he solves it! He loves the sense of accomplishment and the praise that follows!

☆ Pet names time! I think Kunikida uses pet names like “Darling” “Little One” or “Dear” very gentle feeling! These nicknames feel like, being wrapped in a pretty lacy baby blanket. I can’t explain it- I also think Atsushi is a kid regressor (4-6) so he’s able to talk pretty well! I think he’d call Kunikida “Kuni” or if he’s feeling a bit younger than usual maybe just “Da” hehe (I love characters that have Da in their name so I can make a baby call them that. Cough cough Dazai calling Odasaku Da cough cough-)

✧₊⁺ ANYWAY. I also think snack time is super important with these two! Atsushi has such a big appetite, and Kunikida is happy to provide! As long as Atsushi’s eating healthy. He’s very cautious with sweets or desserts of any kind, especially as it gets late enough they might interfere with sleep. Of course he still lets Atsushi have sweets! I think a go to snack would be like, rolled up pieces of ham? I know I had this as a kid and I was obsessed with it for literally no reason, it was not fancy, it didn’t taste great, but I thought it was the best thing in the world and therefore so does Atsushi

☆ Kunikida can be really loud sometimes, he just projects his voice a lot hehe. But sometimes Atsushi gets scared (ó﹏ò｡) He doesn’t like yelling… Luckily Kunikida is quick to notice! He’ll make his voice quieter and gently coo at Atsushi, assuring him that everything is perfectly fine. He’ll apologize for using his outside voice while he brushes his fingers through Atsushi’s hair gently. Luckily Atsushi is quick to forgive! He’s very quickly back to a happy baby in his caregivers arms!

✧₊⁺ Atsushi is a bitey baby! Kunikida will be holding the kiddo and working on some paperwork then all of a sudden he feels someone biting his arm. And Atsushi just looks up at him with those sweet innocent little eyes ૮₍˶ •. •⑅₎ა You can’t be mad at that right? Kunikida just grabs him a teether and then they’re good! No pacifiers, for two reasons! One, Atsushi regresses big enough that pacifiers feel too young. And two! He chews right through them. New pacifier? Yeah it’s broken within a week

Yay multiple posts in one day! Aka avoiding big kid stuff! It’s wild being an age regressor because. Why have I been doing complex biology work for the past 6 hours? I’m like. 2. This is not a babies work. And we don’t even have milk at my house! Life deserves tantrums. Everyone gets a free pass to throw a tantrum today because I think we all deserve it

KuniAtsu Headcanon

Denial of feelings meets oblivious dumbass, for sure. Kunikida refuses to admit that he's starting to like Atsushi in a romantic light for multiple reasons (coworker, lack of professionalism, ideals, ect), even though he's falling hard.

Meanwhile, the mixture of low self-esteem and Kunikida's demanding standards ensures that Atsushi can't even entertain the IDEA of Kunikida liking him back.

So they both pine away in silence, thinking that they're hiding it well. (They're really not. All of the ADA knows and they've got bets going.)

But they're both determined to keep their Feelings a secret. It's either outside interference that brings their crushes to light or one of those accidental argument confessions. There is no in between.
