Hans Daucher, Ferdinand I and Anna of Bohemia medal, 1523.
A polished iron shield made by Hans Laubermann in 1514 for Emperor Maximilian I. It depicts an etching of Death shooting a bow, possibly an allegory for the plague, and possibly inspired by Dürer's woodcut of the Apocalypse from 1498. This style of blackened etching on armor and shields will always be my personal favorite. I'm even a fan of the gold rivets you often see paired with this style.
