I’m just saying if my mysterious bishōnen fox spirit friend killed a kid and trapped a guy in a tree that fed off his life force for all eternity while simultaneously making him go insane all because they were part of the gang that kidnapped me - I’d fold so fucking fast.
Summary: In light of a very visible bite mark on Kuwabara's face, Kurama has questions and teasing to do. (humor, fluff, romance, Kuwameshi, kuwama flirting, hint at polyteamurameshi)

As Kuwabara breezed by Kurama, upon entering his home for a study session, Kurama found himself drawn to Kuwabara’s neck.
Kuwabara’s neck never made for a bad thing to stare at; it was, as far as necks went, rather nice. Pale skin, thick muscle, and when attached to those broad shoulders, rather sexy. But what drew Kurama’s gaze today was the rather prominent bite mark on the side of it.
Not a hickey, but a bite mark.
It was not a hickey, a small bruised patch of skin caused from vigorous sucking and nipping, but a bite mark, with a bruise pattern showing off where every tooth was supposed to go. A hickey would have been easy enough to comment on, to tease Kuwabara over, but a bite was a little more concerning. It needed an investigation before Kurama could tease, and investigate he would do.
“Before we get back into studying the nerves in the human body,” Kurama said as he followed Kuwabara into his living room, “Should we discuss the ecchymosis that’s appeared on the left side of your throat?”
Kuwabara stared at him like a confused deer caught in headlights.
Kurama smiled placidly, waiting for Kuwabara to sort through the medical terminology he had studied the last time he and Kurama had a study group, and Kurama could tell exactly when Kuwabara remembered the term when his face flushed a bright red. Slapping a hand over his throat, Kuwabara groaned, “Shit, did it bruise already?”
Kurama grinned, pleased with himself, and sat down across from Kuwabara. “You have a rather obvious bite on your neck, and yes, it’s bruised and very visible. Were you in a fight?"
“Yeah, but not that kinda fight…” Kuwabara sighed, his face practically scarlet.
Kurama picked up the remote control that controlled the AC in his central room and lowered it a bit. If Kuwabara was going to blush this hard, he imagined he would get hot. Might as well turn down the air a bit now so Kuwabara wouldn’t have to ask about it later.
“What kind of fight was it then?” Kurama asked when he was done adjusting the AC. He smiled prettily at Kuwabara’s scowl, playing dumb under his glaze.
Kuwabara sighed, and whether he believed Kurama truly didn’t know the reason why or that he just didn’t want to be baited by more of Kurama’s jokes, he answered, “Yusuke being a fucking idiot!”
"Yusuke, is it? Using his first name now?” Kurama cooed as he opened up his science book, looking to it rather than at Kuwabara’s flushed face, which was only getting worse.
"Kurama—"
“Not that you shouldn’t call him by his first name. You’ve only known each other since you were fourteen, and it’s been a good… oh, 10 years now? 11?”
Kuwabara let out an agitated sigh, dropping his hand from the neck with the rather obvious bite mark. “Kurama.”
“Yes, Kazuma?” Kurama asked sweetly.
“Urameshi and I are dating. As of last week. Happy now?”
Kurama put a hand to his heart and let out a little performative gasp. “Oh, Kazuma! You didn’t have to feel obligated to tell me, though I am happy that you did. I always suspected you two might be more than just friends; I hope you don’t mind me saying.”
Kuwabara closed his eyes, looking like he was praying for patience or wishing for a quick and merciful death.
But Kurama was never known for his mercy.
“I really can’t say I’m shocked you two got together. You two have only tried to die for each other, oh… a dozen or so times between each other.”
"Kurama—"
“And the amount of care you show for each other is rather obvious, even if you two try to be obtuse about it. I’d like to say that’s just a human thing, but really it’s more of a man thing. Men and their inability to share feelings, though I guess that includes me too.”
“Kurama.”
“Though I think I’m less afraid of being honest compared to you two, simps. Oh, and I mean, as in you two are always pining for each other and are soft for each other, not that you two are simpletons… Although, now that I think about it…”
Kuwabara started to drum his fingers and growled Kurama’s name for what he hoped was the last time: “Kurama.”
Kurama tapped his chin thoughtfully. “Perhaps you two are both a little... let's use the word silly. Silly is so much better than obtuse, stupid, or simple. You're both silly, at least when it comes to the emotional feelings department. You took your time dragging your feet on becoming friends, and it’s no surprise it took some time to be honest about becoming potential romantic partners, if you remember that.”
Kurama smiled at Kuwabara, folding his hands under his chin as he propped his chin atop them. “Any reason why he bit you?”
Kuwabara had his eyes closed and took his time, probably counting to ten, before he opened them again. He sighed and looked at Kurama and muttered, “I guess he was feeling territorial since I was coming to your place today.”
Kurama tilted his head and blinked with actual surprise. “He bit you… because you were coming here?”
“We just started dating, and I think Yusuke’s idea of dating is keeping me locked in a room and having his way with me. Maybe it’s just how he feels right now, but he was reluctant to even let me come here to study, as he didn’t want to share.”
Kurama’s eyes fluttered more rapidly as he heard this answer. “And he thinks I would pounce on you?”
It was Kuwabara who gave Kurama a sly look this time, and the fox found himself jerking a little bit as he sat up straighter. His hands fell over his book away from his face, and he blustered, “What does that look mean?!”
Kuwabara laughed and shook his head. “Kurama, you’ve got a crush on all of us. Urameshi, he, and Hiei. I think you’d be very happy if we were all locked together in a room, dating in the way Yusuke values.”
Kurama’s mouth fell open in surprise.
Kuwabara grinned, leaned forward, and explained, “What I mean to say is, Yusuke and I, and Hiei too, are pretty sure you’d be very happy to have all of us in a room, getting hot and heavy to your heart’s content for over a week.”
Kurama had nothing to say as his mouth hung open while his face turned a bright shade of red.
Kuwabara smirked and finally opening his own medical book, casually saying, “But I’m only able to handle one demon’s affection at the moment. I’m not saying I’m against it, but I think I need to go a little slow if things are going to take that route. But you’d have to wait until Yusuke felt ready to share—which isn’t just this moment. But maybe in a few months…”
The silence dragged, and Kurama knew every inch of his skin had become as red as his hair.
Kuwabara flicked his eyes up to him, and his smile turned smug.
“Well, if you’re brave enough, maybe you can stop pining and actually do something about all of this growing between us, right?”
Kurama made a little choking sound.
Kuwabara looked back down to his book. “Now hurry up and help me. I need to study all the cranial nerves, and I don’t have as much time to do it today. I’ve got to leave early today, because as you can guess and see," Kuwabara pointed at the bite mark at his throat. “Yusuke is being terribly clingy right now. So… chop chop.”
Kurama’s mouth closed with a click, any and all teasing he intended to make was promptly forgotten.
Inwardly, Kuwabara gave himself a point of managing to tease Kurama. Sure, Kurama had a thousand points on him, but scoring a point against Kurama was a very happy thing indeed. And since Yusuke was always looking for reasons to put his hands on him at the moment, maybe he could use this point against Kurama as a way to garner a reward out of Yusuke.
Enduring teasing and studying with Kurama certainly made Kuwabara feel he deserved a little treat.
