This statue is the Guanyin of the Southern Sea, a masterpiece from the Liao (907–1125) or Jin (1115–1234) dynasty constructed from wood with multiple layers of paint.

She personifies the Bodhisattva ideal, stepping out to aid suffering, sentient beings.

Kwan Yin (Quan-yin, Kannon) pendant, inscribed on reverse. “Vegan”-- the three LARGE beads are “vegetable ivory”, sometimes called palm ivory or palm nuts, which are fairly easy to carve when fresh, but when dry, are hard and colored like real ivory. The largest has been partially dyed. 

Bottom line:  出入平安　“peace wherever you go”.  Not sure what the vertical line says/means
