Ok runners, last long run before race day! 🏃♀️ . Enter the taper tantrums. The time when I second guess every activity and worry about getting injured if I still hit some trails. The time when nutrition, hydration and sleep need to be MORE of a priority. It’s all the mental game from here to race day. ⭐️ . We’ve built up our stamina and muscles. Now we just have to at least maintain and build up our mental strength. That’s why I think this part of the training is the hardest. It might not be that way for you, but it definitely gets to me...enter race anxiety. 🤯 . Every race, big and small, I get it. I haven’t been able to zero in on a way to overcome it, but each race gives me an opportunity to figure out more about myself. ☀️ . But I still run because I feel free. I got to run along the ocean, see the mountains and soak up the sunshine this morning, all while trying not to get blown away.
