Nude male effigy whistle (Unknown artist, ~600–750 A.D.)
The ceramic Mayan statue seen above comes from the late classical period and depicts a male figure with his arms raised. While it may not be obvious at first glance, this statue also has a practical function as it is also a whistle with “its mouth piece being the man’s anus.”
