I must say I'm little curious how deceit would be here. Kids are known to say exactly what they think of
Yes, but, kids do lie, and lie more often as they get cognitively more developed (typically older than 3). Especially if they have done something that is against a rule, particularly ones they don’t fully understand the reason for (like, “don’t run in the house” or “don’t peak inside the box”)
Kid does what they were told not to, guardian/adult asks “did you do it?”, kid says “No, you told me not to.”
Kids can also lie to themselves about the world, I know that I, as a child, actively *bleeped* out swears that I heard. (which I became conscious of at like, 9 or 10, when I heard the altered swear, but, at the same time, I was actively aware that, no, they definitely swore.) and, they can lie about things to make themselves and people feel better.
Kids lie about many of the things that people at other stages of life do. They just tend not to lie about their opinions/ideas, things that they consider undeniably true. They have a “Well everyone’s thinking it, why not say it?” kinda mentality when voicing those things. They don’t have a concept of censoring their personal truths for much reason. To them, it’s just logic, and, why censor logic?
(and honestly, by addressing this question, I’m probably revealing way too much about how I’m gonna introduce Dee… but whatever.)
