Party recap:
Having just defeated the white dragon Arauthator, the party raided his treasure-studded ice lair. During this time they also fought off a swarm of the dead dragon’s vengeful kobold servants, helped the wizard Makath pack up her belongings, and informed the enthralled villagers of Oyaviggaton that they were finally free of the dragon’s watch. A great celebration ensued, and the party finally made their way back to the ship of Captain Lerustah to begin the voyage south.
DM: After sailing carefully through the Sea of Moving Ice for a few days, you reach your destination. After a quick discussion, the crew starts moving the ship up onto the iceberg. Captain Lerustah comes over to you. “We’ll wait for you, but we can’t wait forever. Any idea how long you’re going to be?”
Aphil (half-elf druid): No idea.
Sett (human wizard): But we do intend to return, so please wait for us.
DM: Bri, you notice some fishermen in sealskin boats in the distance.
Marijn (playing Bri): Ooh, we could ask them if they’ve seen anything. I ask the captain.
DM: Captain Lerustah shrugs. “Oh, we could, but I don’t speak their language.”
Marijn: What language do they speak?
DM: “It’s a weird dialect of Common. One of our sailors grew up not too far from here...” He calls up to the front of the ship. “Hey, Allen! Allen!”
Lyra (playing Aphil): That’s not Allen, that’s Steve!
DM: Captain Lerustah welcomes you aboard the Frostskimmer. “We’ve got a good crew here, so don’t worry if you’re not good on boats.”
Bri (half-elf cleric): *excited* I grew up on boats, can I help?
DM: He nods. “Well sure. What about your friends?”
Aphil (half-elf druid): I’m looking decidedly green.
Cressida (aasimar warlock): Yeah, I’m heading to the stern with a queasy look.
DM: “Maybe we should strap them in.”
Bri: What if we capsize?
Cressida: Not helping, Bri.
Ginquee (tortle monk): I’d like to be strapped in. I think I’m likely to be a liability.
DM: There’s a ship, the Frostskimmer, that will take you north. Captain Lerustah-
Aphil (half-elf druid): The captain’s a rooster?
DM: ...No.
Party: Aww.
DM: Captain Lerustah sends Steve with you as a translator. “You take good care of him, I’m fond of him.”
Sett (human wizard): Trust me, we’re the least dangerous group to Steve on this landmass.
DM: He’s stern. “Just you be careful. I saw how quickly you messed up those trolls, don’t want things to get out of hand.”
Sett: ...They were monsters that we killed to protect the crew, including Steve!
