Back in January, I drew this spread for a Dragon Age Origins zine featuring the backstory of Brosca (a Dwarf Commoner). I'm proud of my art, I was glad to draw dwarves again. For Brosca I used the image from the official art.

Continuing with my series of pre-canon portraits with me second world state, here’s Trina Brosca sparring with Leske in Dust Town.
Trying to get out of my comfort zone and experiment with new styles and I had a lot of fun with this one 🥰
Round #1 — Match 100 of 104
Josephine Montilyet
“her romance route is so sweet”
“okay so. shes the only reason why inquisition works in the first place since she's the one who keeps the nobles/the chantry in check. keeps them from getting rid of the inquisition. without her inquisition wouldn't last A DAY! she's so smart. and she's the prettiest character ever. i've even learnt how to spell gorgeous just to be able to say it about her. also she's got drama. you get to duel a dude if you're dating her that's actually so cool. no other character romance has a duel in it but she does since she's like a princess. and she's the best princess at that i love her so much. also she has dirt on everyone and if she doesn't, she can make some up. with maybe leaving some stuff to make it seem like the thing she needs it to seem like. that's so cool of her. have you ever seen a more cool character. also she's antivan.”

is this anything
Thinking about the AU I made weeks ago and decided to do one with the Dark Ritual. Dalish Origin. Tamlen honestly doesn’t want to do it. It’s nothing against Morrigan—he actually respects her, one of the few shems he would tolerate, also they are snark buddies change my mind—he just doesn’t want to have a half-human child. And he always thought he would be around for his child, raising them with the same way he was raised. But he’d do it for you. Romance or friendship, he’ll do it for you and only for you, because he loves you and doesn’t want to live in this life without you. He’s your ride or die no matter what relationship. Magi Origin. Jowan hesitates only for a second because being a mage meant never having a chance of a family, of having a child to raise, so the offers takes him be surprise. But then he agrees. He’s been wanting for a chance to finally—finally—make it up to you ever since you two were taken out of the Circle with Duncan, and if doing a ritual with Morrigan is the way then he’s gonna do it. Because you matter so much to him and he’ll always carry that guilt for that day in the Circle. You had a promising career in the Circle and he ruined it. So he’ll make it right, because he has your back just like you had his. Human Noble. Gilmore doesn’t give it a second thought; he immediately steps up the moment Morrigan tells you about the ritual. And it isn’t just because you’re his lady/lord and the last of the Couslands (that you two know of)—you’re his friend, his fellow Warden, the one he would march into the Deep Roads with when the Calling comes to claim you both. If King/Queen, he says he’s doing it not just for himself but for Ferelden because he knows you’ll be amazing as its leader. Dwarf Noble. It takes him a second, but Gorim agrees to it. You’re still his Prince/Princess and Ancestors damn it he’s gonna save you like he wasn’t able to with Bhelen’s scheme. He was willing to die in the Deep Roads with you, and like hell he’s letting some darkspawn dragon send you to a place where he can’t follow. He’ll sire the child, and he’ll thank the Ancestors every day in his prayers that the ritual existed for him to save you. Dwarf Commoner. Leske thought you were kidding when you told him. Ha! Good one! Oh, wait you’re serious? Shit. And you want him to do it? Double shit. At first he doesn’t want to do it—but changes his mind when he learns it’s the only way to survive. A way for you to survive. And also him, because he was thinking of doing the final blow for you. Because you’re his best friend and you’ve been through shit together…and the air topside has fucked with his head since leaving Ozammar, obviously. City Elf. Soris needs a moment to digest this. Just like he’s done since Duncan Conscripted him alongside you and watched a man die from drinking Darkspawn blood and another being killed by Duncan, and now you and him and Alistair are all that’s left of the Ferelden order and thus the only ones who can fight the Blight. So. Give him this moment please. But when he does, he agrees to it. Because the other option is either you die or he dies, and he doesn’t want that. He wants you and him alive, and he wants to see Shianni and Cyrion with you again, and just this once he wants to be your hero just like you were with him for all these years. If you didn’t romance Zevran Soris does, and he’s doing it for Zevran as well.

Of all the things that change when you don't play as Brosca, one of the saddest ones to me is that Leske doesn't join the Carta, both he and Brosca stay in Jarvia's prison until the Warden shows up.
In most of the origins, whether or not you play only directly impacts the life of the warden - Tamlen dies whether you play as Mahariel or not; Howe kills the Couslands/Fergus lives whether you play as Cousland or not; Jowan is outed as a blood mage and gets caught in Redcliffe whether you play as Amell/Surana or not. The one that comes closest (unless Aeducan does - I haven't played it yet) is Tabris, where you can directly impact whether Soris goes free or is imprisoned; but even so, Tabris isn't put in a position where they have to kill Soris when they get back to Denerim.
So while a lot of the origins might come back to the place they left when Duncan recruited them and say "I could have changed this by staying, if only I hadn't left", Brosca is the one where it's demonstrably true - by not leaving, Leske stayed their loyal friend; but because they left, Leske turned to the Carta instead ;-;
