Odd Behavior

Chapter 8: Misinformation

"Caine... licked your head?" Poni wasn't just confused. Was it disgust? Who knows.

"Now, that's new." Zooble was surprised.

"Did he say something to you, before... you know..." You realized Ragatha was the one who stepped on eggs all the time. Felt like. You get what you mean.

"Hm... I gave him a stupid cotton candy."

"Wait, those things work on him?" Far away, you saw someone getting closer "Does that mean, we could-"

"Hey guys" Kinger arrived "How's the zucchini?"

"Pretty." You answered, not thinking much of it.

But, for some reason, he stared at you for longer. "You know" Kinger said to you(?) "Caine doesn't always know what he's doing. So... sometimes he will just-" His eyes pointed at different directions when he stopped. Had he forgotten?

"Oh, is it morning already?" He did forget what he was saying.

"I guess we know what we should do, then" Jax playfully said, holding what was a pink bottle.

"Where did you get that?" "You're not thinking what I'm thinking, don't you?"

"It’s exactly that." He grinned.

"F*** it, I'm in." Zooble said. What was that weird sound now?

"Wait, are you sure this is safe?" Ragatha worried.

"After that lasted adventure? We deserve a f******** break. Even if it's Jax, he's got a point. Let's take that clown out."

"You mean... get him drunk?" Poni said.

"Sure. It might be easier to get some answers, too"

"Hah, now we're talking!" Despite his usual grumpy state, Jax was near euphoric.

You didn't know how, but they decided you would be their decoy.

You were supposed to meet Caine and distract him while they ambushed the AI. Problem was, you couldn't, no matter how much you tried.

He appeared to Jax, who quickly hid the bottle of stupid sauce behind his back. He talked about random things, ones you couldn't hear. When you did get closer, however... he vanished. Every single time.

It seemed like he was avoiding you at all costs.

Oh boy.

If that wasn't enough, BUBBLE appeared and kept staring at you. God, you hated that thing. You started to hate bubbles after you learned of its existence. Please go away.

In the end, you found the cast sitting sadly on a corner. (Cast, as if they were from a movie, heh)

"He got our stupid sauce" Jax buffed when you came near. "You had one job."

"It seemed like Caine was avoiding you" Exactly! "Did you do something or..."

"Right."

"Huh, I thought he liked you" Jax said "What's up with you two? Does he like you or not?"

"He says there aren't any favorites, but... yeah, whatever there is between you and him, it's weird." Zooble remarked.

"...does he..." Poni spoke "...like you?"

"Nah, that's crazy" Jax laughed "He can't... well... he's an AI, so he can't."

"Well, he did start acting... differently, ever since you came..." Mask remembered.

"It’s... true." Ragatha raised her chin as if hit by realization "He did stop making so many adventures, and... well, he doesn't engage with us as much."

"Could it be... another adventure like-"

"God, I hope not."

The room fell silent. You felt awkward.

"Problem is, he took her to some adventures." Jax pointed out "One time, he wants to spend all the time with her, and in the other, he pushes her away. Did you do something?"

"I... I don't know."

"C'mon! There's gotta be something-"

Once again, you were teleported away.

You felt something touching your back. A hand. It quickly moved away, as he floated into the air a little farther away.

"So... uh..." This was the first time he felt so awkward, you think "About... last night..."

"..."

"I know you didn't mean it, and all of it was a COMPLETE ACCIDENT."

"..."

Caine sighed. "Look, I'll be honest with you." For the first time ever, he went down to your ground, supporting himself with the cane. "Everything that's going on right now, I trying to solve it. It's... complicated." His eyes darkened "And I can't... stop... being stressed because of...!" You could see between the teeth his eyes turning fully red and blue, glitching out. "The only reason I've been away, was because... I can't...support you humans anymore!" Now everything was glitching out. You could feel the ground shake "You're ungrateful, you don't respect me, almost as if... IF... IF YOU HATE ME!" The ceiling shook.

Your heart - wherever it was - was beating fast. "I DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU, AND THIS IS THE THANKS I GET?! I TRIED SO MUCH, BUT YOU JUST HATE EVERYTHING."

...you sat down, curved on the floor.

You hated it.

Please go away.

Her chest was jumping. Her eyes were full of tears. To say she was panicking was too little of the fear residing inside her mind.

Truth be told, she felt too much. She was easily affected by anything, and so she tried to erase those feelings. At some point, she could barely feel them. Only when she turned to her little world would she began truly feeling what meant to be human.

This world slowly took shape into a desire of traveling to another reality. Somewhere far away from all her problems, from her fears and misunderstandings. Somewhere she could make herself at home and go on adventures.

She thought this was her chance.

In the end, it didn't really matter.

She followed herself.

Everything was progressing smoothly. Dealings with Quasartico, completion of the Exceed Testing Facility within the region. Spinel simply needed to remain hidden. Malamar was on the edge of Rogue Mega Evolution. No need to take more risks. It's scheme has been successful...

...

Oh but humans are such difficult creatures to control. What was that on Spinel's monitor? He's swift to tell Beheeyem to follow... Is that who he thinks it is?

"Don't lose sight of him, Beheeyem."

And so, the Pokemon did not. Dare not. It followed Alhazred close, until it was lead to the scene of their trap. Bleu Sector 8. It did not catch sight of Hamber, the focus on Alhazred, but then it moved to...

Amethio?

The feed cuts to him; panning between Spinel's despised rival, and the equally hated man known as Alhazred. He could feel his rage tugged, and he's soon standing, leaning close to his monitor... The screen then went dark.

The turning point of this plan. If he doesn't take the bait, then it will fail. Ironic, they're relying on the recommendations of Spinel's original personality that this will work.

R̷E̶M̶A̶I̸N̵ ̴H̸E̶R̷E̴.̴

That's a painful headache, but his concerns are elsewhere. Their link strains, the strings are weakening. Alhazred's efforts within his subconscious persist even now... Combine that with the changes Malamar itself has made to him. He needed to know. How did Alhazred survive? Why is he with Amethio?

He can't just 'remain here'. He's lost his sight so now he must find out personally. Ditto is missing, he can't send it to check for him...

Umbreon is recalled into its' Pokeball, and the doors to his vehicle swing open.

"Magnezone."

The Pokemon emerged from its' Pokeball, emitting a slight buzz as it studied its' surroundings. What will it be used for this time? Flight. Spinel is climbing on. They had no time to waste. It's a little demeaning traveling this way... But they've stripped him of his method of teleportation; so he has little choice. He'll be sure to make them pay dearly for this, he thinks.

Spinel's approach was dangerous, but successful as Magnezone lifted him over the rooftops to the location... And there Amethio was. No sign of Alhazred, but since he was already here...

"AMETHIO!!"

The Magnet Pokemon is rushing in at high speed. Spinel jumps from it once it is close enough to the ground, stumbling slightly but it's worth it... As Magnezone is continuing forward, heading right for Amethio directly. Thunder Wave forming around it, so it if does miss, it hoped to at least cause some issues with paralysis.
