Every day, Whumpee is brought to a room with a bolted chair, a tray of tools, and a mirror.
They're tortured to a brutal degree. Whumpee screams, sobbing through the pain, “Why!? Why are you doing th-this? Just tell me what you w-want!”
Their captors never speak; whumpee's never even heard their voices. Sometimes, they grab their face and force them to look into the mirror bleeding, shaking, barely conscious.
Then the moment ends, and it starts all over again.
On the other side of the glass sits Caretaker, watching while unharmed and being questioned.
Every time they don’t have an answer, whumpee takes the hit.
Something about this bugged me. Other than the typical, Eliot Spencer grazing over and minimizing a tramatic event, there was a hesitation in how he described getting ‘dropped off.’ And this is definitely something that I think Christian Kane took creative license on, filling in the script where it left off. But there was something I recognized here—and it actually wasn’t the first place that I saw it.
Oh yeah, you know where I’m going with this.
To state the obvious, recognizing and dealing with child abuse is always—always—a horrible thing, and it’s expected for someone who genuinely cares to react vicerally, as Eliot did throughout the entire episode. However, there was something more, and I always thought so, but “The Fractured Job” just sealed the deal for me. Something about how Eliot recognized what Randy was going through just by seeing his back, standing next to his dad. Obviously, Eliot shows throughout the show that he’s great at reading body language, and he is very observant, but he also phased out so many times in the episode. There was a personal element here, something that Eliot recognized in Randy off of personal experience.
We were never told how old Eliot was when he was saved from or abandoned by his biological parents, just that he was young enough to be in a picture with Billy Spencer around the age of 10 or 12.
But with how he acted in “The Order 23 Job” and “The Fractured Job”… there is nothing I can think of that would convince me his story wasn’t very similar to Randy’s.
And working off of this, however his biological parents abused him, it adds so much depth to the why of how he treats kids, treats Parker.
Which leads me to point out his conversation with Randy, and how well he handles all of it: he has brief moments of intense eye contact and facial expression, that he breaks off just as fast—engaging, but not intimidating. He always is the one who looks away first.
And when Randy comes out of his shell a bit, he doesn’t bombard him with questions—he never even asks Randy directly, ever, in this conversation, if his father is the one who broke his arm—he just shows Randy that he knows, and takes the pressure off for him to tell the truth.
Which plays back into his conversation with Randy’s dad in the stairwell...
And this one line that just guts me every time:
And when he tells Randy:
“You could go up to one… and tell them what happened to your arm."
There’s this moment, this moment:
The look on his face here, made me know something was up. Yes, absolutely, Eliot is a compassionate and highly protective person, especially when it comes to kids—he would have helped Randy either way, but there’s something else here too: personal experience.
If it wasn’t obvious enough in everything else, we have this:
Hardison jump-scares him. And Parker, in “The Studio Job,” was super surprised whenever she was able to shock him, because she—cat-burglar extrodinare, was never able to sneak up on him before. And Hardison… sorry buddy, you aren't quiet.
Eliot’s there, talking to Randy, but the whole time half his mind is somewhere else.
And now I can’t get it out of my head, so I’m putting it in yours.
I can’t stop seeing Eliot, at however young an age—young—with a broken arm and bruises he keeps explaining away, because his daddy taught him how to lie. Then a young woman seeing him at the hospital—actually seeing him—and taking him home to a place where she became his mother and Billy Spencer his father. Where he later locked himself in the woodshed to get over his claustrophobia...
Scenario: Taking care of each other when you are sick
Pairing: Eliot Spencer x Gn!Reader
Requested by: @spuffyfan394; a very long time ago lmao
Warnings: Obvious mentions of being sick and the various side effects that might come with it (fevers, sick, medication, etc.)
Words: 496
When you are sick, Eliot takes it seriously...
If its anyone else, he's annoyed to take care of them, whining, making jokes or claiming they are saying it's worse than it is.
But when it comes to you, it could be a minor illness and he's not letting you out of this sight.
If you have a fever, he is brining you medicine, tea, and a cold cap.
And he will be taking your temp every other hour.
Massaging you if you are aching anywhere and speaking softly as to not agitate your headache.
He will make you various soups and stews over the course of your illness to make sure you get a variety, all while making you eat something easy on your stomach.
Won't let anyone bother you.
He will cuddle with you, and hold you tightly if that's what you need.
If he needs to go somewhere (which he will only do if its life or death, or if you want to be alone or sleep), he will leave you with a nice plush or pillow to cuddle with.
When you are feeling up to it, he will run you a nice bath, and sit outside (or inside) the tub with you.
He will wash you and your hair for you, to make you feel better.
And when you are finally over your illness altogether, he makes you one of your favorite dishes to celebrate.
When it comes to Eliot being sick....
He wont tell you he is ill
He could have a fever of 105 and he'd try to keep going.
You only figure it out cause of one of two reasons.
One; you catch him taking some cold and flu pills, or two; you hug him and he pulls away.
Even as he does you feel the heat radiating off of him.
When you get angry at him for not telling you he was sick, he says its because he didn't want to worry you.
As much as you love him for this, you still flick him on the forehead and tell him to go home.
You bring him a cold rag and dab his face, putting his hair up for him.
You bring him tea, and soup and threaten to chain him to the bed if he doesn't stop trying to leave.
"Is that a threat or a promise?"
Even when he's sick he's got jokes.
After seeing how sweet, caring, and worried you get when he is sick, Eliot think's it's endearing.
He even milks it a bit just to get your attention on him.
Calls you Nurse/Doctor, and you're convinced he's got a secret kink he won't really admit too.
The first time he got sick during your relationship, that that was when he decided you were the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
When he is finally better, he makes you breakfast to thank you for taking care of him.
But you insist on helping, since he only just recovered. He's fine with it.
xx End xx
Not my best work but I hope you like it!

Ya know my brain loves to come up with all sorts of angsty/whumpy situations to put Eliot in, but today I think my brain finally did it. It came up with the single worst possible way to hurt Eliot👀 (without actually killing any of the main characters, that is.)

Chapter 3 is up!
“Yes! Yes, we can hear you!” Hardison’s response was instantaneous and loud. Eliot winced, head throbbing with the sudden shout right beside him. “We’re down here! There’s two of us!”
A beat passed, with no response.
“Hello!” the voice called again, slightly louder this time. “Is anybody down there?”
“Yeah! We’re here, we’re down here!”
No response came. Another moment, then the same voice, yelling again, calling for anyone.
“Fuck,” Hardison whispered. The hand on Eliot’s arm tightened, Hardison’s breath shifting to something too fast once more. “Fuck, they can’t hear us –“ his voice shifted, into that tone that Eliot knew meant he was talking into the earbud. “Mama, Sophie, can you hear me? If they’re a rescue unit - tell them we can hear them, tell them –“
