Little!Remus & CG!Logan Fic
{heads up, kerro kerro! this was my part of a trade with @theogclownboy :D I hope you like it ^^}
“Logan!”
The screeching voice echoed in his ears, making his eyebrow slightly twitch in annoyance. He felt the pressure of hands on the chair he was sitting on as the voice hopped up and down. However, Logan stayed level-headed, keeping his eyes glued onto his book.
“Logan!”
The voice echoed again, now barely away from his face. But once again, he turned the other way, not wanting to deal with such a nuisance today. He wasn’t ignoring the voice, per say, just refocusing his attention on the task at hand. At least, that’s what he told himself.
“LOGAN!!!”
It howled once more as a regressed Remus dug his hands into the back of Logan’s button-up and shook him back and forth until the logical side couldn’t take it anymore. “What
could you possibly want, Remus?”
He was quiet for a bit, before smugly smiling and replying with a simple, “…hi.”, running away giggling gaily.
Logan sat there in silence before taking in a deep breath, holding back his tongue at the boy as he pushed up his glasses. That is just what Remus wants, to get under his skin. At least, he thought, it seemed more innocent than his usual antics of plaguing Thomas’s cerebrum with intrusive thoughts. Yes, this was just a mere childish game to him, and Logan was the target. His logic had to remind him that this was a healthy redirection of Remus’s mischievous ways as stated by Sigmund Frued, not something he should blame him for.
He was, after all, on babysitting duty.
Logan sighed and placed his book down, walking over to where the regressed toddler ran to. Why did he have to be in the terrible twos, Logan begrudgingly pondered despite his reasoning, that’s when emotional development spikes and according to Erik Erikson they-
His thoughts were interrupted by a loud “pfft” sound underneath his feet. A whoopee cushion had been placed at the doorway, and a laughing Remus was accompanying it.
“Fart face!” He exclaimed between his giggles, lying on the floor and holding his stomach from the amount of laughter built up inside. His floppy green striped shirt underneath his black overalls flailed with him, along with his wild brown hair now growing more mad.
Logan was not impressed, however. Fart jokes never amused him, especially ones as mediocre as this. “This is supposed to go on a chair, you know. That is typically how these types of ‘pranks’ work.”
Remus’s laughing face formed into a pout before sticking his tongue at Logan. “You no fun…” He mumbled. However, his energy quickly spurted back up from his small fit as he began to giggle and run around more, showing no sign of stopping.
The logical side sighed, looking over at the clock back in the living room: eight o’clock post meridiem. That is when Patton advised Logan to try and get Remus ready for bed. Simple enough. Just have to get Remus ready and into-
Logan looked back into the room where no Remus was in sight. Then, he heard a faint giggle coming from the kitchen. He whipped his head around and sped walked over there, finding the curious toddler looking through the knife drawer. Quickly, he reached his hand out and shut the drawer before disaster struck.
“What would make you think of doing something so idi-” He stopped himself from what he was about to say, replaying the thought in his mind that Remus is not in a developed headspace. Of course he wouldn’t think of the dangers, he was just following his curious two year old instincts.
Just as he was about to try and put into layman's terms the harm of dangerous of sharp objects in relation to regressed children, he once again saw an empty space where the boy once was; and, like a breadcrumb trail through a forest, another small noise came from the TV area of the living room. There, a hunched over Remus holding a aforementioned knife sat, aiming it very closely to where the power socket stood.
As fast as the speed of sound (figuratively, not literally), Logan dashed to the socket, swiftly removing the danger from the toddler’s hands. “Remus!” He yelled, more out of concern and correction than anger.
However, it seemed Remus didn’t really catch onto that, as the small tears welling up in his eyes were genuine. The toddler scrunched up his face to a frown as the floodgates opened, falling onto the floor from the impact as the thing every babysitter dreads began: a tantrum.
Logan felt an awkward mix of remorse and confusion at that moment. Remorse for raising his voice at a mentally younger person, who can control his actions, but often doesn’t have the best judgement in his headspace; and confusion for what he should do now. He wasn’t usually the best when it came to emotional support, and he for sure wasn’t skilled enough to calm down a tantrum-throwing toddler.
As Remus threw his fit on the floor, Logan thought back to all his advice from Patton who was better equipped for these types of situations. That’s when it hit him.
He popped out quickly unbeknownst to the boy, but quickly came back scrambling with an assortment of items. “Uh..” He murmured, clearing his throat as he approached his next words carefully. “Look Remus, I am sorry I yelled at you. It was highly inappropriate of me even if you were doing something quite… dangerous.”
Remus clearly heard his apology, but refused to acknowledge it as he continued to slam his fists and thrash his legs on the ground. Tears streamed down his face like a waterfall and dampened his mustache and clothes. Logan sighed, placing down the items onto the floor in front of the toddler, which piqued his interest slightly. “I have here what Patton refers to as ‘your comfort items’”, he said as he flipped over one of his slang flashcards before quickly realizing this wasn’t the time for that as he put them away. “This rat stuffed animal, a green pacifier, and…” He sighed, regretting the next words coming out of his mouth as he said them with slight disgust, “Pickled Poo Logs deodorant…”
As Logan pushed the items in front of Remus, the storm he was brewing calmed slowly as his focus was now directed onto them. He whipped away a tear with his sleeve, looking between the items and Logan. The toddler then quickly swiped them, hugging onto his rat while going back and forth between his pacifier and the deodorant in his mouth in a chaotic fashion. The logical side stood there for a minute, observing the interaction before Remus looked back up at him with a small smile.
“Thanks, butthead!’ He giggled, finding any word related to the bottom region funny at this age. Remus then grabbed onto Logan’s tie, forcing his body to come down to his level with a laugh.
Logan then let out a relieved breath despite his antics. Even if the response was immature, Remus was immature, and that made Logan know everything was alright.
“Now come on,” He started, pulling out his hand for the boy to take while trying to soften his usually flat voice, “It is well past the scheduled bedtime for you, we must get you to bed now.”
With disgruntled hesitation, Remus took his hand, letting the man guide him away to get ready for bed. Logan helped him into cozy striped pajamas and tried his best to get some personal hygiene done, but that was met with more yelling, screaming, and fighting. In the end, he was just able to comb down Remus’s wild mane slightly. A small victory, but a victory nonetheless.
He helped Remus into an almost decrepit and dirty looking crib, just how the boy liked it. “Story!” Remus shouted as Logan tucked him under the covers.
Logan stiffly nodded, heading over to the bookshelf. “Fine, one story.” He grabbed a small picture book off the shelf with a slightly disturbing front cover clearly belonging to no sane children’s book, but Remus insisted that was the one he wanted. Of course he did, Logan sighed with a small smile, sitting down on a stool and beginning the story.
After some time and some quite creative, so-to-say, additions to the story by Remus, he finally was lulled to sleep by the words. Logan finished up the book, looking over at the toddler asleep in his bed snuggled up next to his plush with the pacifier in his mouth.
It made Logan smile.
He slowly got up so as to not make a sound and placed the book back into its proper place. The man then headed for the door, making one last glance for good measure before carefully shutting the door and walking away.
Maybe, Logan thought, I was better cut out for this than I thought.
