Bungie today announced that the June update will mark the end of support for Destiny 2.
As a Live Service title, Bungie's intention was to keep the game going forever, but, especially after The Edge of Fate and Renegades, Destiny 2 was running out of steam. Now, it officially has. After the incredible successes of Overwatch, Destiny and later Apex Legends it seemed like the future of AAA gaming was the live service model. āForeverā games, which would continually provide players with new content to enjoy and makers with potentially endless revenue. And, for a time, that future proved to be true. Several more massive hits likeĀ Escape from TarkovĀ andĀ Helldivers 2 carved out their own audiences,Ā and it seemed the live service train would keep on rolling. Itās become quite clear over the past few years that the track isnāt endless, however, and the following games are but a handful of those that crashed and burned because of it.
