Today’s giveaway comes thanks to the brilliant @christinekalafus who imagines creative ideas floating like bubbles on the wind, some of them slipping in her window, landing on her at her writing desk. @elizabethgilbert has shared a similar idea, as have a famous songwriter or two whose names escape me at the moment. Thanks to Christine, whose  sweet drawing could just as easily illustrate creative ideas floating out her window into the world, I am struck with the thought that maybe we are all sources bubbling with creative brilliance. Maybe our creativity works like comic improv, a giant game of “Yes, and” where we receive but also elaborate and pass on. Bent over our private writing desks and easels and guitars, we are together in play. And maybe the un-caught ideas just keep traveling slowly over the landscape, growing larger and more diffuse but no less powerful as they go, permeating everything… Today’s art giveaway (number 18, I believe) is a thank you to all risk sharing their truths, their complete and also half-formed ideas, their unassailable and also their imperfect visions, their rough-draft jokes and riffs and verse and scribbles, as well as their masterpieces. Our #techtiptuesday comes from @dr.jacob.harden and goes out to all our students studying for finals, our office workers, and those driving and sitting all day constantly in a shrugged possitiin. TRY OUT THIS NECK STRETCH . One of the biggest factors I've found in chronic neck tension is that we are constantly ️shrugging our shoulders up to our ears. Especially after sitting and working on our computers for long hours. . So we can stretch our neck out all day, but if we don't figure out that shrug, it's all going to be just a temporary fix. And one of the easiest ways to figure out how to release your shoulders down is to incorporate the movement into the stretch you're already doing. . So instead of just grabbing your head and pulling over, I want you to shrug all the way ⬆️up so you learn what that end range is, and then reach ⬇️down to the ground so you learn to go the other way. You can hold that statically or even better, you can pulse the shoulder up and down and get some reps in. . Then, now that you know what it feels like to have your shoulders dropped, try to replicate it when you go back to work. Add some good belly breathing on top of that and you'll be on your way to finding more long term neck relief.😀 .
