Well, since you asked so nicely :3

The bedroom had always made a part of Ford ache, even before fate had driven a wedge between him and his brother. For the first ten years of their lives they'd shared a small room in their childhood home, constantly bumping elbows in the cramped space while their parents bemoaned having extra mouths to feed. When they were small Ford loved being so close to his brother, his constant companion in all things.

Then he'd started to feel cramped, their cluttered room too small for two growing boys. When he'd been discovered to be the Hero and told he'd be moving to the castle and given his own space, he'd been ecstatic, eager to stretch and fill it with all his own, personal things.

But then it had happened, and a part of him never recovered from having Stan so far away from him. He had brushed it off, growing up, told himself the only reason they'd shared in the first place was because their parents didn't have the space to separate them, and Stan spent most of his time in Fords room anyways, so it wasn't like he never saw his brother. Stan's room was just the place Stan slept at night.

Then the place Ford could find him if he wasn't at the training grounds.

Until one day he didnt, and now, examining the space around him, the room Stan had been given on their first day in the castle, Ford realized just how small it was.

It was a third the size of Fords, and how hadn't he noticed? What had stopped him from seeing the space as anything other than a repurposed storage closet? They hadn't even taken out the weapon stands, and the table shoved in on corner was nothing more than a crate with a tablecloth over it.

The only reason it hadn't been switched back was because of Fiddleford, and the fact that Ford hadn't even thought to step foot here in the last ten years made him sick.

But thinking about all the ways he'd failed Stan growing up was better than thinking about his most recent failure.

In front of Ford, tucked into his old bed, Stan looked smaller than he'd ever had. His face was pale and gaunt, the scar across his eye jagged and pink, despite being long healed. The bags below his eyes were almost black, and and his hair hung limp, damp from step and tangled from lack of care.

The empty space where his arm should have been made Fords stomach squirm.

The cut was right at the shoulder, the only place Ford-

But lower and he wouldn't have a brother to be sitting next to, days after they'd stuck the lingering remnants of Bill down and sealed the Ultra Master Sword deep in the catacombs.

Days, and the only sign that Ford hadn't killed his brother despite all the sacrifices he'd made were Stan's shallow breaths and the occasional twitch in his remaining hand.

Ford stared at it, fingers steepled as his elbows rested on the mattress next to his brother.

When he'd asked, several hours after they'd dragged Stan through the castle doors and had Stan attended to by the royal healers, he'd been told that, while the injury was severe and he'd lost a lot of blood, the main source of Stan's deteriorating health was from long term possession. The Malice from Bill had taken its toll, and it would take time for Stan to get back on his feet, even if-

Ford blinked hard, shoving his skittering thoughts away.

In front of him was Stan's hand, and he's spent the last three hours staring at it. The longer he sat here the more he wanted to-

But he shouldn't. He didn't have the right, for several reasons.

There only being one hand was one of them.

But he wanted to. The longer he sat, stewing in what-ifs and what-could-have-beens, the more the urge burned away inside him, demanding he take action.

Ford forced himself to look away, first at the- and then back at the too small room.

How hadn't he noticed? Why hadn't Stan-

And Ford was staring at the hand again, eyes drawn there the moment his brother crossed his mind.

He really, really shouldn't.

But he wanted to, and there was no one to stop him really.

"Stanley," Ford whispered, flinching as his voice broke the silence pressing down on them. The sounds of the castle were muted here, and the room had become so quiet he could hear Stan's ragged breathing.

Breaking that silence over something so childish felt like another mark against him.

Nonetheless, he pressed on.

"Stanley," he said again, swallowing the lump that had made a home in his throat, "I know you can't hear me, but I..."

He swallowed again, and leaned forwards, letting one hand flop to the mattress while the other reached forwards. His fingertips ghosted over the back of Stan's hand, before darting away.

"I just... if- if you really want me to stop, just say the word, and I'll..."

Stan didn't stir, and Ford swallowed again.

"Just say something, and I'll leave you be."

With that he gently slid his hand under his brothers, before tilting it up so he could graps it with the other. His six fingers held each of Stan's five between them, slotting perfectly together.

Just like they always had.

The last time Ford had touched his brother, besides when he had-

The last time, Bill had been possessing him, and every touch sizzled and ate away at Fords body and spirit. His face was red for hours after, and it didn't regain feeling until he'd dunked it in a bowl full of healing potion.

No one had been been happy with him when he'd told them that, especially the potion vendor, who'd chased him off with a spoon and banned him for three days when she turned around to find Ford still dripping with it.

Now though, free of Bill and back to being human, now...

The hand was clammy and cold, and Ford let go with one hand to pull Stan's blanket higher before grabbing it again. The calloused fingers were limp, slightly smaller than Fords, and they disappeared once his other hand came down and covered it. Ford set his forehead down to rest on their clasped fingers, tension bleeding out of him with every beat of Stan's heart. It took only a slight shift so that one of his palms were pressed against his brothers wrist, to feel the proof of Stan's life in his hands.

Stan's breathing didn't change, he looked as pale and ragged as before, but...

But..

But Ford squeezed his twins hand, and a small, desperate part imagined Stan squeezed back.

In the present Shadow is 28, nearing his 30s.

The Mobius has frozen over, exactly 1.5 year ago, practically turning green planet into a snow dessert. And the worst is yet to come.

Technological advancement of the world was terribly uneven, even more so after the winter came.

This winter has no set date when it is to end. Shadow is working on it.

Shadow disapeared from his friends radars without any warning 4 years ago along with another person.

They hear of Shadow but no word about the other missing mobian. They count them dead.

Only Rouge knows the most of what happened to both.

Omega has no interested in the details as long as he's aware that his (ex) teammates weren't killed off by some random cocksucker.

Shadow accidentally became a warlord.

Sonic is the first to find Shadow in a desolate fortress where he and his men are carefully chipping away at a giant ice mountain that appeared during that unnatural winter. Searching for something.

Rouge was there before that but she hasn't searched because Shadow explicitly told her where he was.

Sonic is convinced suspecting Shadow losing his mind due to guilt and is afraid that he's purposefully accidentally gonna destroy the world with his actions.

Exact mindset is passed to everyone else when they see what Shadow is doing and his weird behavior.

Shadow knows what they're doing and it's the only way to try and turn world back to normal.

They're already prepared to face next drastic climate change.

They forgot to warn the others at first. They remembered later tho :D

Basically this story is angst for everyone else while Shadow and his partner scrambling vibing in their second effort to save the world.

The duo just forgot to communicate that to outside perspective.

Random but sad Layers of Fear thought of the day, kind of inspired by Rogue One - the daughter comes back to her childhood home just as the Painter achieves the Wife and Child ending. The first time seeing him in 15-20 years, and he’s going to die.

The daughter arrives just as her father sets fire to his paintings and the house. She runs up the stairs, calls out to him. He slowly turns around to see her one last time, a bittersweet expression on his face as he whispers ‘you came back, princess’ before completely disappearing in the debris and fire consuming the house

ok so im possibly still thinking about Jurassic park au (do NOT @ me about writing, i finally got a day to myself and i needed to draw or i would go insane). im considering peter sneaking to Jurassic World as a "Stark Representative" to learn more about his birth parents who he thought might work there (they don't, Ales and Nightwing were just cloned by one of the genetic companies), and running into Bruce, Tim, and Damian who were there to gather evidence that Jurassic World is doing some crazy irresponsible shit. and then the indominus rex breaks out and they have to survive the park together until Tony goes looking for Peter and the other Bats go looking for Bruce, Tim, and Dami. chaos and family drama unfolding while people are getting chased by dinosaurs 💖
