Web Portfolio Logo Development

For my name I wanted to try having a symbol of my initials put together. However, I do enjoy a typeface logo especially since it can be more open visually freeing and could fit in with any practice I choose to go into. I really like the outline of the typeface i have done because I think it fits my personality by the width and style of strokes that’s being used. 

I designed different logos based on the career aspirations that I have. For publication I have decided to manipulate a typeface to make it look like ink and make it almost like a letterpress  style through the thick strokes. For branding i thought to go with a stylish font that is minimal and simplistic and has a professional look to it. I added in the line to evoke that if people choose to work with me they will get a high standard service. I am really inclined on the branding logo i came up with, although, i think for a book cover designer I should go for the publication one since it is what I want to do.

D&AD App logo

The logo at the top is where I have played around with  the 75 Futura font which gives of a  retro style that I am going for. It also gives off a letterpress style that links to penguin as brand since it’s been around for so many generations, but this design choice can help it make it relevant to generation Z. I tried different fonts and wanted a bold and think stroked type that i could use so that I can incorporate the penguin logo as the letter ‘i’ because that way it will be really obvious that it’s connected to Penguin Book House. I chose orange because that is the original colour that the brand is known for and I wanted to keep some of the root but make it connect to the Gen Z target audience.

CHS Illustrator Development

Here s my development process of the logo. As you can see I have came up with two options that we can showcase at our tutorial with CHS. I think the type logo has a strong image and I tried to incorporate the leaf onto the letter t since I thought it was most suitable. This was already an existing font that I have manipulated and I tried to originally make the leaf stand on the t since it looked similar to the former letter but I thought it looked like an i therefore I changed the position.

I think the continuous line logo of a plant is interesting too and abstract which is a style that is popular. I tried different colour themes too that can make it pop and played with abstract shapes that can be used as a brand stamp that can be places on the packaging of the product if needed. We also looked for colours that are vibrant and eye catching, but we wanted to have a shade of green because it symbolised sustainability and ethical values.
