More on Porter and his relationships w Vincent, Lovely, Sam, and Darlin' (and the pack tbh, he's getting adopted soon. They already got Vince and Lovely):
Lovely inviting Porter (just Porter) over, telling him there's something they want to show him.
They never threw out their audition or performance tapes. Vincent had begged them not to throw them or their medal away. They allowed Vincent to keep all their E&E related stuff in a box under their shared bed.
After their conversation with Porter, they were finally ready to face that side of themselves again.
When Porter arrived, he noticed a distinct lack of Vincent's presence as Lovely ushered him into the living room. As he sits down in front of the TV, Lovely begins their pre rehearsed speech.
"Okay so... Ive been thinking a lot since dinner the other night and I know you never got to see my magic in action like Vincent and Sam did. I'm not quite ready to jump into the deep end like that again but I do still have my tapes from the games and if you'd let me... I'd like to rewatch them with you."
Porter was touched. They were being so vulnerable with him, which was a surprise since their first meeting was milestoned by a right hook to the face.
"if you'll have me, I'm all eyes." The phrase made no sense but he could tell it got his point across. He was still trying to figure out if this was a prank or seriously a vulnerable moment between the two.
The first tape was inserted into the player and the TV roared to life.
The clips were short since they were only of the max amperage categories and those are short by nature, but Porter was still extremely impressed by their strength.
The two spent the rest of the night talking about magic.
"Thank you." Porter couldn't think of anything else to say. Not in the face of something as important as what they had just shared with him.
"I should be thanking you. I wouldn't be ready to even look at these tapes again if it wasn't for you. Vincent's great and he's helped me a lot where he can but... He was unempowered. He doesn't understand and he didn't want to push me into anything I wasn't ready for or back into something I'd rather leave behind me."
Porter blinked. The words turning over in his head. They were trusting him. Taking him at his word and listening. Soaking in his stories and advice. He felt a warmth in his chest.
"Anything to make someone like you wield something like THAT again." Porter chuckled, rehighlighting the raw power Lovely displayed at the games before the Inversion.
They spoke for a little longer before Porter left. Their conversations and the videos of their feats played over and over in his mind. They trusted him with that, and that made him glow.
Porter and Lovely are my sillies and they're siblings now (not like I hc them to be siblings but like they're friends that are so close they're siblings). Was this maybe a little OOC for both of them? Probably. But it was cute and self indulgent so enjoy it.
I hope we get more Porter/Lovely interactions, especially as we learn more about Porter and he allows himself to get dragged into the friend group the other vamps have going on. (The pack will also get him eventually but I say that bc I want a 12 person smash tournament. Porter is secretly GOATED at video games. You can hide from me ik what you are Mr. Solaire.)
