✨The Complete Wisdomverse Zelda Timeline✨

It’s finally done!!! (for now)

NOTE: You do not need to read this whole thing to follow the Wisdomverse comics! This timeline is just here for folks who like deep lore, or those who want to try solving plot mysteries before the characters do. Like all #lin thinks posts, it’s entirely optional!

This timeline is largely based on canon, with a lot of Wisdomverse theories added on top to thread various aspects of the games together. There are also a few small WV secrets here for folks to find (if you don’t already know them)! No major spoilers though— for either WV or the Zelda games themselves. I wouldn’t want to ruin the plot for y’all :)

This took me far too long to plan, draw, write, and diagram out. Totally worth it.

Guys, i need help. I need a simple LU timeline for an art idea and i have 2 questions.

1. Where do i put Warriors? 2. Which timelines connect to Wild? Is botw supposed to unify all the timelines or??

Legend, Twilight, and Wind are all born in the same year. Due to bad record keeping and timeline shenanigans, it takes a while for them to figure this out. When they do, it’s a rush to figure out who is oldest. It’s Wind. Wind is technically slightly older than Legend and Twilight and won’t stop saying it.

I haven’t slept in two and a half days and my brain has decided it only wants to think about world building lore of Linked Universe based on my sort of limited knowledge of the games. (I’ve mostly just played downfall timeline.) so buckle up. I’m gonna rant. Feel free to ignore me.

This is gonna be focused on Hyrule’s world this time. So Hyrule’s world is by far, the most devastated out of all of them. Wild’s world may have gotten destroyed more, but his world is recovering.

My first thought is that the longer Ganon is in power, the worse the world gets. It’s not just the land itself, but the people and mindset get worse and more backward. Hence Hyrule’s view of women being defenseless as see in that one LU panel.

My explanation on this is that every time Ganon rises, people will either band together and shun outsiders or will start acting on their worst instincts. Also every time a hero rises, the hero’s role in saving the world over rides the part that Zelda plays in the saving of the world. This trickles down in to towns people. Any boy could be the next hero. The best a girl could hope to do is be the mother of the hero. (Very backwards)

The longer a land goes without being taken over by Ganon, the better and more progressive the world gets. Hence Wild’s time being progressive despite being taken over by Ganon they’ve had 10000 years without being plagued by evil.

After all that. Now to what my brain wanted to say. Hyrule grew up with a different Triforce story than the others. His is mostly based on Legend since anything further than Legend is lost to time for Hyrule’s era.

Once there was a battle between Ganon and the Hero of Legend. In the end, the Hero was aided by the Golden Goddesses, but in the fight one of the Goddesses fell. To save their sister the other two transformed her and themselves into what is now called the Triforce. The power they used to keep the land safe is now only presented to someone who is capable of holding the full Triforce.

The story is sort of based of the Oracle Games and the missing third game that fell through in the development process. The battle against an evil is the only thing that remains from the origin of the land of Hyrule from Skyword Sword.

As stated in the main post, there are a few fun little Wisdomverse secrets in the timeline. Feel free to take a look around!

I’ve scrubbed the timeline of major WV spoilers, though. This means parts of it may change in the future as WV characters learn things (or as Nintendo adds things; I can’t control them, but I’ll usually try my best to keep adding new content in interesting ways 😆)

This timeline is compatible with the core characterizations of the nine Links of Linked Universe!

It does, however, contain a lot of theories that are canon to WV, but no longer canon to LU— such as Spirit and Phantom as separate characters from Wind and Tetra, Shadow from FSA, the cast traveling to Hyrule Warriors, and many more.

It’s worth restating that I absolutely don’t mind people using my Zelda and Link designs, as well as this timeline, in their own works! Just tag #wisdomverse so I can see it too :).

I also certainly don’t mind folks using my designs, tagging #wisdomverse, and taking their own spin on the timeline! The timeline is a suggestion, not a rulebook. Feel free to use it; feel free to use your own. I’m not here to gatekeep the fandom!

Three and a half years ago, I made the much less detailed timeline guide for LU here, and I’ll echo the same sentiment I said back then— I hope this helps at least a few people create more cool Zelda fics and fanart.

I finally did the thing I’ve been threatening to do for ages. I drew a quaint little infographic for the LU/LoZ timeline. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I am *not* affiliated with jojo, the original creator of the Linked Universe. This is not guaranteed to be LU accurate. I do not have access to her plans.

What I do have is a decade and a half of Zelda headcanons and a finished file of nearly every Zelda game.

I love jojo’s AU precisely because it fits so well with canon, while making some very fitting changes. This is a tiny humble tribute to LU, the fandom, and the LoZ franchise. I hope this helps at least one person write even more amazing fics and draw even more amazing art. I’m looking forward to it <3.

Key:

Each blue circle is a game

The circles that intersect directly with their corresponding Link’s icon are the ones that are canonically attributed to that Link

The circles that are close to a Link’s icon without intersecting are canonically different Links, but the same Link in LU

The white numbers are their release order, counting the game’s first release.

Notes:

Legend’s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th games are interchangeable in order, as long as the Oracle games remain adjacent. The order there is my preference.

FSA is on this diagram twice. It is canonically after TP, but I think it makes way more sense in LU to place it after FS so I’ve placed it there as well. I hypothesize— you guessed it— more time shenanigans.

Warriors’ game isn’t canon, but afaik most LU fans (myself included) believe it was the catalyst for the timeline convergence. I’ve seen other interesting interpretations for the convergence as well though.

Spirit Tracks is a special case, because unlike Legend and Four with their respective merge games, Wind has never shown signs of being from ST. I’ve given ST to Wind in this diagram, but I personally like to believe Spirit is his own hero, and he’s just not on the journey due to geographic differences— he’s the only hero who has never saved Hyrule proper, so he’s technically not a Hero of Hyrule.
