Ugly
There is much talk about Tony not taking into account the feelings of others, but for some reason less is said about Steven Grant Rogers in the same vein. And there is something to talk about.
It appears that Mr. Rogers is a great aesthete. And that makes sense. He's an Art Major after all. But sometimes his sense of beauty takes precedence over everything else. For example, over sincerity and empathy.
There are two instances in the MCU where Steve has called something "ugly." The first was in The Avengers, in the scene where he called the Tower, where he would soon be welcomed with open arms, "a big, ugly building."
There are two issues here:
1) He didn't actually think the building was ugly because in a deleted scene he found it appealing enough to draw it in his sketchbook.
2) He used it as an insult. Even though Tony had teased him earlier, and it was not respectful, he hadn't said anything truly negative about Rogers. Here, Steve is deliberately lying to Tony to ridicule his creation and home, using a real insult to try to hurt his feelings.
The second incident occurred in Endgame, where Steve called Scott's (Luis') van "ugly."
And maybe that van wasn't the most beautiful van in the world, it didn't deserve that insult. I don't know what the point of calling a van "ugly" was in the middle of an epic battle. I also don't understand why he was so insensitive to Scott.
Conclusion: while Steve Rogers is not the devil incarnate that some people make him out to be, he is also not an ideal to aspire to or to be worshipped by others. The two simple examples show that he is not at all above lying, responding to teasing with insults and attempts to hurt, and being simply insensitive to the feelings of others.
Scott: This is a mistake.
Luis, enthusiastically: A mistake we’re going to laugh about some day!
Scott: But not today.
Luis, still enthusiastic: Oh no, today is going to be hell!
