this is gonna be long but i had a thought and i can't get it out of my head
the tma fluff ep epiphany but it's todd and charlie:
Todd: (reading aloud a poem he's writing about Neil)
Charlie, crashing into the dorm and startling him: Todd! What are you up to?
Todd: Haha! Hmm! Nothing; nothing– Poetry! I, w– writing! Yes.
Charlie: Hm.
Todd: I was– writing–
Charlie: Anything… on your mind?
Todd: Oh – Plenty – you know, the usual. I was, I was actually thinking of trying to go see my family, but, well, the- my brother, and, you know, plus sometimes they can be –
Charlie: Yeah, that’s great – Anything else?
Todd: What?
Charlie: Oh, come off it, Todd; I saw you in the break room the other day.
Todd: …How do you mean?
Charlie: Knox, Meeks, Pitts and I were studying for our exams, focusing on our trig and you could hardly be bothered by any of it. You were just – there, staring wistfully off into space, running your finger around the rim of your mug!
Todd: I was...distracted.
Charlie: You like someone.
Todd: Wha – Wh– Well – That’s – I mean – I could hardly –
Charlie: Mhm.
Todd: I, I really don’t –
Charlie: Called it! Meeks owes me five bucks. So...who is it?
Todd: I don’t have to tell you anything!
Charlie: Is it Ginny? I know you’ve been talking about her a lot lately.
Todd: Is this an interrogation now?
Charlie: So it is Ginny!
Todd: That makes no – It’s not – it’s not Ginny; Charlie, listen –
Charlie: Alright; alright; we’re getting somewhere. Oh. Oh! It’s not Cameron, is it?
Todd: What?
Charlie: Oh, Todd; you can do better – I mean, did you see what he was wearing? –
Todd: Tha– It, it – It’s not Cameron. And I don’t want to do this! Okay? Now, if you’d could just please let me get back to th–
Charlie: I mean, Chris is practically engaged –but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s not her.
Todd: No, no! No.
Charlie: Or...wait. Are you being so dodgy about this because it’s one of us? (laughs) Is it Meeks? Is it?
Todd: Charlie, I’m literally begging you.
Charlie: Alright, fine, fine. Have it your way. Keep your precious secrets. But – between you and me, can I at least offer you a little advice?
Todd: I – get the feeling you’re going to anyway.
Charlie: Look. Nobody’s gonna notice you if you don’t notice yourself first.
Todd: What?
Charlie: Okay, look, that came out wrong; look – What I mean is: Take care of yourself. Because I know you, Todd. You will give yourself away until there’s nothing left of you to love.
Todd: That’s not fair.
Charlie: Oh, it’s true. And you know it.
Todd: …Maybe.
Charlie: Look, I’m telling you this as a friend. Just think about it, okay? Whoever this is, they’ll see how great you are not because of what you have to give away, but because of where you stand firm. And after all of this, you deserve something for yourself.
Todd: Hey, that...that really means a lot. Thanks. I will think about it.
Charlie: Good. Alright, well, I’m going to head out. I’ve got some latin homework to catch up on.
Todd: Take care of yourself too.
Charlie: Always do! (leaves)
Todd: Right, where was I? Uh, yeah, yeah, okay (continues reading poem but gets cut off again as the door opens) G- Oh my god, Charlie; normal people knock! Normal people knock, Charlie!
Charlie: Sorry! Hey... It’s not me, is it?
Todd: Would you stop!
Charlie: Because if it is, you know...dance card’s open.
Todd: Just go away. just go away, Charlie.
Charlie: Just putting it out there! Alright, alright. (leaves again)
Todd: (goes back to the poem again but is again interrupted by a knock at the door) Oh, what? What?
Neil: (walks in) Hey, what's up?
Todd: Oh...just been having a bit of a time.
Neil: Mm, haven’t we all? What did Charlie want? He was grinning.
