ways to repel the evil eye !!

here's a little collection of evil eye protections and folk practices, inspired by a question from one of my twitter followers who asked how i personally ward off the eye !! these are a mix of southern italian traditions, longstanding protective rituals, and little techniques i’ve picked up over the years: 🧿

PREVENTATIVE

in southern italy, many people carry around a mano cornuto or cornicello pendant with them. if you don’t have these pendants, it’s safe to just keep a dried red pepper on your person too. it’s also a very popular tradition to hang and dry red peppers over our stoves and windows

keep a small pouch of salt in your pocket, in your car, in your purse, or spray yourself with a salt spray before leaving your home or interacting with a specific person giving you the eye. black salt is especially effective for these purposes

burn a protective herb mix or boil some in a simmer pot before leaving your home. an herbal mixture of basil, orange peels, tarragon, rosemary, agrinomy, and lemon can be used

do a vinegar handwash — rub olive oil and vinegar onto your hands. wash off the oil mixture, then powder them with cinnamon. thoroughly rub the ground cinnamon into your skin, then wash it off. let your hands air dry. do this before interacting with someone you feel is giving you the eye

ACTIONABLE

say a beeja mantra or prayer the moment you see or think of the person you feel is giving you the eye. Durga or Kali mantras are very effective for this, i have found personally. some people prefer prayers to archangel michael, some people quote verses from the book of psalms. find what’s yours !!

make the form of the mano cornuto (🤘) with your hand around this person a few times. make sure you point your fingers downwards toward the ground when you make the gesture

cast salt over your shoulder when you feel like you’ve been struck with the eye !! the age-old tradition of throwing salt over your left shoulder isn’t just good for reversing bad luck, it’s also a tool for deflecting the evil eye !!

wear red !! this is deeply routed in southern italian folklore; this is the color we wear to keep the eye at bay. it’s very common for people in italy to wear a small piece of red clothing, jewelry, or even red nail polish every day as a protective measure

HEKATEAN Evil Eye Removal

A Traditional Evil Eye Banishing adapted from Italian Folk Magic by Mary-Grace Fahrun, in Hekatean Form

DIAGNOSIS – Water and Oil Test

Tools Needed:

• White porcelain or clear glass bowl

• Spring or moon-charged water

• Olive oil

• Teaspoon

• Salt

•. scissors

• Black or white candle (lit during rite)

• Optional: Incense (myrrh or frankincense)

Method:

1. Pour water into the bowl (half full)

2. Drop 3–5 drops of olive oil onto the water’s surface

3. Place the bowl on or before the afflicted person

4. Watch the oil’s behavior:

• If the drops merge: Malocchio is present

• If the drops burst or spread: Strong malocchio

• If the drops remain still: No malocchio

Say quietly as you observe:

“Si malus aspectus hic est, manifestetur. Per Hekaten, revelentur oculi invisibiles.”

(If an evil gaze is here, let it be revealed. Through Hekate, may the hidden eyes appear.)

Removal:

Face East and recite with power:

Before me, the flame of Phōsphoros lights the way.

Behind me, the key of Kratais banishes and protects

At my right hand, the torch of Brimo defends with fire.

At my left hand, the shadow of Chthonia seals the gate

Above me, the star of Ourania shines eternal.

Below me, the gate of Propylaia holds fast.

Within me, the breath of Enodia walks all roads.

The fire of Trimorphis surrounds and defends me.

So let it be.

Hold the scissors open over the bowl. Speak with intention:

Brimo, Brimo, fiercest flame,

Burn the eye that brings me shame.

Strike down envy, rot, and fear,

With your key and torch draw near.

By threefold crowned and IAO bright,

In your name, Hekate, the evil eye is removed tonight.

(While holding the open scissors above the bowl):

Perform the Crux Enodiae with gesture:

• Touch forehead with the tip of the scissors: “Phōs”

• Touch solar plexus or just below the bowl rim: “Skotós”

• Point between the feet or base of the bowl: “Dýnamis”

• Extend right arm out from the bowl: “Sophía”

• Bring scissors to the center (above the bowl): “Enodia. Amén.”

Then immediately say:

In tenebris lucet lux tua, Hekate.

Oculus malus nunc frangitur in nomine tuo.

In darkness shines your light.

Hekate, the evil eye is now broken by your might.

Cut the air three times over the bowl using the scissors.

Recite aloud:

Dies Lunae, Dies Martis, Dies Mercurii, Dies Jovis,

Dies Veneris, Dies Saturni, Dies Solis,

In nomine Hekatae, frangitur oculus malus.

(In the name of Hekate, the evil eye is shattered.)

Dip your right thumb into the water. Trace a six-rayed star, banishing pentagram, a crossroad, or protective sigil:

• Forehead

• Back of neck

• Over the heart

Recite:

“Per flammam, clavem, et gladium – malum disiungitur.”

(By flame, key, and blade – the curse is unmade.)

Pour the contents down the drain or onto the earth.

Say:

“Quod missum est, redibit.

Quod ligatum est, solvitur.

In nomine Enodiae, nihil manet.”

(What was sent returns.

What was bound is released.

In the name of Enodia, nothing remains.)

Stand before the altar or candle.

Hekate Regina Liminum, Lux et Umbra,

You who guide through darkness and storm

Torchbearer of flame and Mistress of Dogs,

Break the eye that binds, and shield this soul.

As you seal the gate behind all harm,

Open the way to health, clarity, and strength.

Gratia tibi ago, Hekate Trimorphis.

Esto voluntas tua. Fiat. Fiat. Fiat.

For lasting protection:

• Sleep with open iron scissors under your bed (blades facing feet)

• Wear a consecrated amulet (obsidian, bone, silver key)

• After receiving compliments, spit gently three times or say: “Chaire Hekate.”

• Cleanse weekly with salt or rosemary bath

• Repeat the rite as needed during spiritual exhaustion or psychic illness

Just a quick notice, this is not the correct sign for Rock n Roll. This hand sign means "I Love You" in American Sign Language. 🤟 It is combined letters I, L and Y of the fingerspelling, manual alphabet, all on one hand.

If anyone is looking for the actual sign for Rock n Roll, it's usually this sign, 🤘This sign, "malocchio" in Italian or mano cornuta, began a long time ago in Italy, to ward off bad luck or evil spirits, similar to the evil eye talisman or amulet. 🧿

This sign has been used a lot by the late singer, Ronnie James (Padovana) Dio. (Dio, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Elf, Ronnie and the red Caps) In past interviews, (YouTube) Mr. Dio explains how he learned this sign from his Grandmother, who learned it from her childhood upbringing. It's basically known as the Italian Evil Eye, It can also be a part of the Pagan, Heathen, Viking, Christeo-Pagan, Christian Witch, Wiccan religions.

You can also see this sign used by actor, Paul Hogan towards an animal, to help calm it down, in the 1986 movie, Crocodile Dundee.

Feeling Off? 8 Quick Fixes to Free You From Negative Energy

If you suddenly feel negative energy on or around you, here is a simple guide to help you shift it quickly.

1. Seal All Openings in Your Body and Aura Openings in your energy field can allow negative influences to enter. A common sign is that the energy remains heavy, no matter how much clearing work you've done. You can ask your High Self to seal these openings for you. Every living person has a High Self who supports and serves them. Simply voice your intent out loud, or if you feel a bit shy, simply thinking it works just as well.

2. Put On a Shield Afterward, ask your High Self to put a light shield on you. Alternatively, you can visualize one yourself: imagine a bright, strong, beautiful bubble of energy surrounding your entire body. If you feel a connection to a certain element (e.g. water, fire, or electricity), you can build your shield using that elemental energy.

3. Set the Intention to Return the Energy to Its Origin Your intention has real power. Simply setting the intention for the energy to return to its original place may cause it to leave your field.

Certain hand gestures can also aid in energy clearing. One example is the “sign of the horns” gesture 🤘, traditionally used in Southern Italian culture to ward off the evil eye. When I use it, I shake my hand while pointing the "horns" downward.
