James crossed his arms with a scoff, “Really, Wormy? You’re going to listen to Sirius about this?” The three had been discussing ways for Peter to approach his current crush. James, of course, had been encouraging Peter to be a romantic; make a grand gesture with singing roses.
Sirius, on the other hand, had been encouraging Peter to be direct; just go up to his crush and tell them what he thought and ask to go to Hogsmead.
Peter looked between his two friends, then across the table at Remus who simply shook his head as if to say ‘leave me out of it’.
Peter twiddled his thumbs as he answered his oldest friend, “I, erm, I don’t know, Prongs. Sirius has definitely had more…success. You’ve kind of been asking the same girl out for years.”
James physically deflated, arms dropping and mouth open slightly in shock.
“Exactly right, Wormtail!” Sirius clasped a hand on Peter’s shoulder in triumph.
He turned to James then, “Sirius has had more success. And why has Sirius had so much success you may ask?”
Remus groaned, “For fucks sake, please stop referring to yourself in the third person.”
“Sirius has had so much success,” Sirius continued, “because he knows what the people want. And the people want the bold face dirty truth. None of the sappy shit, no sir. Be direct, that’s what I always say.”
James’s eyebrows were furrowed now, “You do not always say that.”
“Well I’m saying it now,” Sirius rolled his eyes with his usual dramatic flair.
James crossed his arms in frustration, opening and closing his mouth trying to think of a retort. Remus decided to come to his rescue, “Show us, then.”
All eyes turned towards the tallest of the group. Sirius gave a flustered laugh, “Wha-erm, whaddya mean, Moons?”
Remus set down the book he was flipping through, clasping his hands in front of him with a smirk, “If you’re so confident in your..” Remus seemed to roll his hand over his wrists a few times, “your suave-ness, why don’t you show us.”
James’s frustration melted into that of amusement, “Yeah, Pads, show us how it’s done.”
Sirius scratched the back of his neck, “Well, erm, I mean..how am I supposed to show you. Just put the moves on one of you guys?”
“As flattering as that would be,” Remus smiled wolfishly, “why don’t you try on…them.” Everyone’s eyes followed to the place Remus briefly pointed down the table; right at you.
Sirius shrugged before pushing up from his seat, “Easy. No problem.”
He walked down the table slightly before stopping in front of you. You ignored him at first, not quite feeling up to dealing with whatever Sirius was up to.
You knew of him well. How could you not? The infamous marauders with their pranks and mischief always losing your house points.
If not that, then definitely making you late for class; which was almost worse.
He looked over at his friends, all three sets of eyes watching intently. Sirius cleared his throat, and you finally looked up to give him attention.
You didn’t speak at first, instead just staring at him blankly.
Sirius adjusted his tie before swiftly fitting himself next to you on the bench, “So what time should I meet you for Hogsmead this weekend?”
A smirk of a smile graced your face, “Sorry, wasn’t aware I was going to Hogsmead this weekend, love.”
Sirius tugged slightly on the leather jacket he often swapped for robes, “Shouldn’t two gorgeous people spend time together?”
“Oh, Siri…” you clicked your tongue, “You can do better than that, I’ve heard. C’mon, give it another go.”
Ring clad rings run through raven hair as Sirius takes a peek back at his friends. All are watching with keen interest.
Peter looks like he’s taking mental notes, James is furrowed brows.
Remus looked like the Cheshire cat, grinning from ear to ear as he rested his chin on his fist. He raised an eyebrow in a way that shouted ‘Go on, show us all’.
He turned back to face you, a slight blush dusting across his nose now. It made his freckles just slightly more prominent.
You had to give it to the Black family genes; even if most of them were insane, they were also all insanely captivating.
You sighed, “You know, Sirius…I never noticed how cute you look when you’re flustered. A little bit of blush really suits you.”
Sirius stuttered slightly over his words, “Well I- erm, I mean…Godric…did you just turn this around on me, doll?” He pulled at his tie, “Is this how everyone else usually feels when I flirt with them?”
You shrugged, biting your cheek to hold back a grin, “Dunno. You’ve not successfully flirted with me yet so..”
Gathering your things, you stuffed them all in your bag before standing. You grabbed the last of your toast, using it to point towards Sirius as you walked backwards and away from him.
“930 on Saturday, that’s when you can pick me up. And that’s in the AM, Black,” you punctuated your sentence with a wink before taking a bite from your toast and turning back towards the exit.
Sirius wore a somewhat awestruck look for a moment before straightening himself back out and returning to his friends area of the table.
“See, Wormy. It’s that easy,” Sirius sat and began to make himself a cuppa like nothing strange had occurred a mere meters away.
Peter looked thoroughly impressed, “Wow, maybe I will just ask her out!”
James scoffed while Remus shook his head adamantly, “Wormtail..please, for Godric’s sake, do not for a minute believe Sirius just did anything. He didn’t ask them out, they asked him!”
“No! I did ask!” Sirius protested.
Remus tapped his ear, “Lest you forget, dear Padfoot, but Moony can hear everything.”
Sirius groaned, “Damn your wolf hearing.”
