Cameron Cope’s platoon Woke Af. They got a Latina Captain, a Black Staff Sergeant, a Closet Case Sergeant and a Drill Sergeant who had a road to Damascus moment and began advocating for the mental wellbeing of the recruits.
This is all right before the beginning of the Gulf War. This is the Woke Agenda at work.
Captain Fajardo (BOOTS) - "Strong woman", done right
Here's a spotlight post about Captain Fajardo - because I think she's a great example how a female character in a male dominated environment can be portrayed as strong AND empathic without being over the top or stereotypic (and because I love her and there are not enough posts about her :)
I think the writers of the show managed to give her this great duality of being a hardass who's not fucking around, while also still being empathic/soft and fair. She doesn't need the stereotypical screaming /shouting /physical appearance to be perceived as strong. Sometimes we even see both of these sides of her in one single scene:
The inspection (ep 4)
Officially adding Boots to the fandom list! I came across this gem over the past weekend and couldn't help but binge it from start to finish. I'm disappointed that Netflix didn't want to make a second season for it, but I'm hopeful that maybe some other streaming service will pick it up.
That being said, oh my lord, I have not had a character obsession this bad in a while. Nicholas Slovacek has me in a chokehold and does not seem to be letting go anytime soon.
Chapter 1: A Place to Land
Sgt. Liam Sullivan, dishonourably discharged and an ex-con, is in a rough place after his release from prison. Stuck back in Parris Island working night-shifts at a shithole, he runs into Staff Sergeant Marcus McKinnon, who, after everything, still offers him a safe place to land.
Thing is, after spending his whole life looking his over his shoulder, safety isn’t something Liam knows what to do with.
^^ pitching this as a fic idea where Sullivan gets out of prison on parole and ends up right back in Port Royal, SC just a few miles out from the base. McKinnon recognises him, remembers hearing scuttlebutt of what happened and remembers the original NCIS investigation, and decides to help Sullivan pull his life back from rock bottom.

“Each and everyone of us has a fire that burns inside us and they can like hell try to put out that flame, but as long as in our minds we know who we are meant to be they don’t stand a chance.”
The wizarding world’s own Prince Charming. Marcus is everything parents wish for their son-in-law to be and so much more. However, as protective as he can be when it comes to his friends and especially his family, as uninterested is he in getting into a serious relationship and settling down. Now that they all find themselves in a war, he finds himself at a crossroad. Even though he’s always been a fighter and a lover of a good duel, he isn’t so sure anymore if the Order’s fighting strategy will get them anywhere. After all, they don’t seem to win anything and he surely isn’t willing to lose somebody he loves as the thought alone already paralyses him now. Even if nothing like this has happened so far, with the bloodshed of war increasing on a daily basis – it’s hard to see an end in sight.

We are a group of writers dedicated to plot and character development. As an 18+ group, we’re looking for mature, dedicated, and passionate people seeking a long term roleplay that will focus on themes such as war and death. Most threads on the dash are full of substance, which means most are paragraphs or longer gif chats! The Admin Team posts prompts, plot drops, and events as needed, averaging 1-2 major plot drops per month with smaller challenges and events in between. If you’re looking for a plot heavy group with surprises and twists, come apply today!
Congratulations Jayne you’ve been accepted to Crimson Revolt as Marcus McKinnon!
↳ please refer to our character checklist
There’s a lot of people who are super excited to have your Marcus back in the mix! And reading over your application just made us really nostalgic and happy that he was coming back. It’s clear how much time and effort you’ve taken into developing his character, which really makes him jump out to us as someone we’d hate to do without in the roleplay -- and we’re so excited for you to explore some of the plot points that you’ve developed and take him further along in his journey! You’ve been missed!

when the levee breaks | narcissa&marcus
(( @marcus-mck-innon ))
The new year rolled by and instead of the victorious celebration they were supposed to be having, Narcissa had found herself worried about the attacks to the homes of the people she loved. It had taken them a few weeks to recover, but they were ready to strike back and teach Aversio a lesson. At least their attack on the members of The Order of the Phoenix had yielded results. With February came the whiteouts, the tick blanket of snow that covered every inch of the ground, and the winds colder than ever before. Narcissa enjoyed the cold. And with Valentine’s day right around the corner she found herself wanting to surprise Lucius at work.
Narcissa had never liked the Ministry of Magic. From a young age she found herself walking these hallways by the hand of her father or uncle. She had always been a well behaved child, and the Blacks had not wasted a chance to let the world know how better their kids were to literally everyone else’s. And she had always been underestimated, no one had see any harm on bringing her along. But Narcissa had learned all about the things that went on behind closed doors, of how money could make people do anything. And it was then that she decided that she could not care about something whose loyalty was so easily bought.
Narcissa hated the Ministry of Magic.
But Narcissa also understood the need for it. People needed a sense of leadership, of believing there was someone who could guide them. After spending hours putting together her outfit, Narcissa had finally made her way to the Ministry. She didn’t visit often, so it was going to be a surprise. She had barely stepped into the atrium when she felt herself collide against someone. Narcissa was about to snap, but decided against it in case it was someone she needed on her side. A well rehearsed smile made its way to her lips as Narcissa looked up. Recognition flashed across her face, ❝Marcus?❞ she said with surprise.
