Twenty years ago I spent the night in one of the most haunted theaters in the world — The Bird Cage in Tombstone, Arizona.

A monument to arrested decay, the Bird Cage still maintains most of its original contents, from its one-of-a-kind Faro table to its faded wallpaper. It's also said to maintain some of its former residents — from a phantom stagehand to professional gamblers.

The experience definitely influenced my work-in-progress... The Osiris Circle: The Trap Room Ghost.

I absolutely love urban legends — but I rarely believe them. And it is wise to approach them cautiously and maybe enjoy them for what they are... something that sends a shiver up your spine but nothing more. 

The “Dark Pyramid” legend caught my attention this past September with the release of a graphic novel by the same name, written by Paul Tobin and PJ Holden and published by Mad Cave Books.

Did you know that the underwater scenes from Creature from the Black Lagoon directly inspired Steven Spielberg when he was filming Jaws?

Whether it's the mysterious Gill Man or a killer shark, there's some primordial fear human beings have of predators from the deep. In my blog, I look back at the history of the Black Lagoon movies (yes, there was more than one!) and how they fit with the recent graphic novel, Universal Monsters: Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives! by Dan Watters.

By March 2015, the MCU holy trinity had been established consisting of Iron Man, Thor and Captain America. But within the mix of their stories , which spanned generations and galaxies, there were numerous supporting characters who were just as fascinating. One of the best was Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell. 

ABC's AGENT CARTER TV show only lasted two seasons, but there's a reason why the character remains a fan favorite and continues to make appearances in the MCU — including in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.

Recently, I've been deluged with these verbose and highly flattering emails from "readers" who promise to get me more Amazon and Goodreads reviews.

The problem is, most, if not all, of these missives are faked by AI pulling already published information about my books and regurgitating it back to me as a personal email for me to pay for said reviews.

Authors, don't be fooled. Here are some tips on how to identify the scam.
