Ahhh thank you for this 🥰
My main SamMary hc is that, when she comes back to find her children grown, it's really hard at first for her to reconcile adult Sam with the baby she left behind. With Dean it's easier because he still has so much of the personality he'd already started to develop, and she can she his face there. It really fucks with her head, and she keeps looking at Sam and just WANTING. But she also misses her baby so much it makes her standoffish.🥺
There are so many similarities between them that they COULD bond over if she could get past all her guilt -- and eventually that will happen -- but the thing that finally breaks the ice between them is:
Mary is still lactating, unbeknownst to her boys, and has been silently dealing with the discomfort of not having a baby to feed, until it becomes too much and Sam notices something is wrong. And of course, he offers to help. And it's totally innocent in the initial offer, but the thing that works best and most immediately is Sam nursing from her.
Most people past the bottle stage -- even weaned toddlers -- forget how to breastfeed. Their mouths don't remember how to latch on, or the right way to suckle. But we've seen how Sam goes after Ruby's blood; Sam REMEMBERS. And as soon as he latches on, something clicks into place for Mary. He's her baby boy. Unfortunately for Mary, this somehow makes her initial attraction to him even worse, because now her body KNOWS he's HERS. And he's not a baby, AT ALL, even when his eyes are big and bright with relieved tears.
For Sam, Mary has always been an unknown; a deep longing he could barely wrap his head around because he didn't even get to KNOW her. His first real knowledge of her is from time traveling and meeting her when she was 24/25, and feeling that connection like he was a part of her. And he's wanted that again so bad; has been mourning her since she came back, still so much that young woman still physically 29, unable to connect with him because he looks like a stranger without the memory of his time travel. So as soon as she cradles his face and calls him Sammy and her baby boy, Sam is fiercely possessive and protective over her. And he knows he should feel guilty, but he can't, because he never got to know her as his mom. She's like a fairy tale made real.
I feel like my hcs are a bit boring because this is always The One for me, but I know lactation kink is kinda Out There for some people so... 😅
