Hate when I get into a fandom and then realise it has died a long time ago. Just wandering through a wasteland of dead discontinued fanfics and memes, you read everything seen everything but you are the only one who hasn't moved on. It's so quiet here.

of course!! (snippet at the end:) in this au omega matthew had something going on with alphas leon and connor when matthew was still in calgary but before it could progress into anything more — matthew moves to florida.

it’s only then that he begins to realise why he feels so shitty all of the time and why watching connor and leon together tugs at his chest so hard. he just knows. he’s bonded with them. he also knows there’s no use in saying anything about it. connor and leon look happy, of course they realise they’re bonded to each other… they just don’t know matthew’s a part of that bond too…☹️

so for a year or so matthew’s watching connor and leon build this perfect little life and bond whilst he’s low-key suffering down in florida until the next thing he knows they’re facing the oilers in the scf and suddenly his alphas are there all the time and it gets worse for matthew because it’s even harder for him to ignore the pain and the tug to them!!

the only scene i’ve really got penned down for this (because we were discussing it at length hehe) is when matthew’s scent blocker he’s been wearing slips in the hallway and connor and leon are there and then all of a sudden they know.

thinking about everything running through their heads in this moment is soooo scrumptious. firstly, obviously surprise, then confusion, then a deep rooted sadness at their bond mate being left on his own without them for years at this point. then, especially for leon, it shifts into a little bit of anger because, why didn’t he TELL them? they couldn’t do anything for him to help if they didn’t KNOW!

anyway, matthew books it out the hallway because he doesn’t know what else to do. it’s too overwhelming. leon and connor end up sprinting after him, and by the end of this it’s giving abo trope ‘The Chase/Run’ whatever you wanna call it, matthew falls, hurts himself, alpha instincts kick in for mcdrai to the MAX 👀

here’s a snippet!!:

His fingers twitch at his collar. He tries to adjust it, force the tape back into place with trembling hands. But it’s over. It’s out. And he knows it before he sees it on their faces. Leon freezes mid-step. Connor goes wide-eyed, something raw and hurt flickering just beneath the surface. Matthew’s vision tunnels. Heat rushes to his ears, his chest, his face—like shame has replaced his blood. He can feel it now, his scent hitting the air, that sharp-tart instinctive yours-mine-yours musk his body throws off when he’s not concentrating hard enough to keep it buried.
