Here’s a fun #tbt to about a year ago when I was working on a huge gear reduction to crank over the planer on my flip top cart. This project never panned out, but it sure was fun to build. Originally, I had speculated that it was a weight issue, but @kraftedbyengineer Clarified that it’s more of a rotational force thing. I.e. the planer’s weight distribution is not at the axle, but more like 12” from it, so that multiplies the force required to move it, or requires a counterbalancing weight, which I don’t have. I still have all these gears and I hope to put them to use on something one day.
