convinced that dustfinger was reminded of the barn owl when he visited the folcharts in the same way meggie immediately thought of mo when she saw the barn owl’s study
Random things I'm braking my mind over that probably no one else does:
Where did Meggie and Mo originally live?
Now, Elinor lives at one of the "north italian sees/lakes". (Insubric Lakes per google. Apparently also glacial lakes.) Those are all pretty close to the italian border to switzerland. (One of them being partially in switzerland.)
The thing is that Mo and Meggie live north of Elinor, since they had to drive a few hours to the south to get to here. Meaning they must have come from one of the german speaking countries: Switzerland, austria or germany. (If germany, most likely bavaria or Baden-Württemberg. I don't know much about the switzer cantons or how the regions in austria work.)
It's also never really mentioned what language they speak, if german or Italian. Even living in Italy, it would be likely for Eleanor to speak german since she's living close to switzerland/austria. (Also she's a nerd and probably knows a few languages to read books in their og language.) In case of the inkworld og characters, I'd say they probably speak the language depending on how the book is translated/from which version they're being read from etc.... (Yknow, since Farid can also talk with everyone no problem.) Then again, Fenoglio is an italian name, the town he lives in is in italy. There's lot of italian scenery. (The movie got its issues, but not sets and costumes and so.) The original script he pulls out would logically be in Italian. He would logically speak italian in in-universe logic. But then again, a lot of people living in switzerland/austria close to the italian border speak Italian. And it wouldn't be off for Meggie and Mo to speak at least two languages either. A book lover as Mortimer surely would know at least the basics in some other languages.
So, most likely, Mo and Meggie probably lived in some small town in Switzerland. There's a lot of more rural towns their, like Meggie described her hometown. With their house also technically being from a former farm.
Now. Capricorns headquarter is south of where Elinor lives and not so far. But he is also said to have some some hideouts in the north. More specifically north of where Meggie and Mo originally lived. This would mean that Capricorn probably had some randome castle ruins or similar occupied in Bavaria of all places. Lmfao.
As I said, thinking way to much about the most random details.
Benoit Blanc: Now, Mistah Folchaht, Mehggie does seem to have been captchared by Capricahrn and his fiyah raisahs, and it's haghly lahkley that she'll be fahrced to read the Shadahw frahm that damned book--
Mo: how did you get in my cell
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary:
Meggie Folchart inadvertently reads Jon and Martin out of The Magnus Archives at the Panopticon right before the end. She was celebrating her new vet clinic. Whoops. Jon and Martin are horrified to learn that they're actually characters in a story. A story where they were both mercilessly tormented and abused. Over and over. Apparently for FUNSIES. It didn't have to be that way. Someone had a CHOICE in their lives. And it wasn't even the Web. No. It was a HUMAN PERSON. A HEARTLESS, MERCILESS, HUMAN PERSON. Oh yah, and it was partially written and narrated by a man who had the GALL to name Jon (his favorite whumpee) after HIMSELF. THE AUDACITY!
Notes:
This story bashes real-life author and narrator Jonathan Sims because to Jon and Martin that guy is The Absolute Worst. But let's be realistic - I too love whumping Jon. It's great fun - you might even say that he was made for it. I just know that if my fanfic Jon were read into existence he'd hate me too. LOL
