Mers Again-because cant put this shit on the main blog
He liked her. More than just in a way of ‘she was nice and good for company’. In a way that made him preen. He heard about this feeling before- that when you found a mate that would be good for you, your instincts would become strange, and make you feel things than ran more deep than a need to rear and raise a successful brood and clutch. She was pretty, sweet, but she was calm. Soothingly calm. When she smiled he felt himself relax and want to please her. Make her smile more.
Humans had a thing called love- perhaps this was that emotion?
“You’re back!” She stated, looking up from her makeshift bed of kelp. Since claiming and bonding with the others, it was not uncommon for himself and Kenna and Karrek to hunt for their humans. Geydrys often came to- but for themselves. Zi was a very polite herbivore, who had taught her humans how to enjoy the bounty of the sea, (which thankfully none of them had been too adverse too).
“I am.” He grinned, the body of a small tuna in his hand. They’d come across a school, and he and Karrek had taken extra time to teach Kenna how to pack hunt.
“We had a good hunt.” The fish was deposited on a hook to prevent it from floating away. “I thought of you-“ He purred, going to he side and pressing his face into her neck, lips dancing on her skin while teeth left affectionate nips.
“Mhm.” Aquois ran her fingers in his hair, smoothing out the few tangles and massaging his skin. “What is for dinner?”
“Big fish- ah, Tuna. I think you call it tuna.” While Mehtab certainly knew much about human things, there was much he didn’t. And learning that all fish had proper names was the newest thing he was adapting to for his mates.
“ Oh!” She spun around him, looking to the blue scaled beast. Even the smaller ones were fairly large. But, that was fine, as Mehtab ate far more than a human male. “Should we take it to the shore to cook it? What of Marina and Flynn?” He rumbled, swimming to her and wrapping his arms around her.
“Kenna and Kareek were well skilled- they caught their own.”
Her pout was adorable. “This is too much fish Mehtab.” He just smiled. He’d been so pleased when he first noticed it. It happened every month, but only recently did he realize why.
“You will need more-“ He kissed her face, making sure to get the tip of her nose. “I will not have my mate unready.”
That made his lovely narrow her eyes.
“Ready…for what?”
“Her husband.” He grinned as Aquois’s eyes widened and red flush covered her skin. “I smell it, you’ll be…” hands ran over her midsection, “fertile soon.” That got a very pleasing reaction, the soft gasp and jump of his mate in her hold.
“Zi and Marina also have begun to… ready. Karrek and Flynn have not yet discussed.”
It was no longer taboo, the dynamic of him and his mates. Their mates. Certain things were not done, certain things were.
“And-“ She bit her lip. “And what of Geydrys?”
“They are excited.” He growled. “As I am.”
“Do you remember the first time we took you to the breeding beds? How we all enjoyed each other? How you enjoyed me?” The rumbling in his chest was a telling sign Aquois knew well- her ‘mate’ and ‘husband’ was becoming highly amorous.
“You- you mean for us to-?”
“If you are willing. I will not force a clutch on you.” He nipped at her lip, pulling her into another kiss. “I cherish you too much to make you resent being mine.”
“I couldn’t do that.” She sighed, relaxing and touching him again. He couldn’t resist, leaning into her hands and his sounds growing deeper.
“I love you.” The rumbling stopped. Mehtab looked to her, wide eyed, smiling, so kind, so soothing, so calm and accepting and wonderful.
“Wife.” He growled. “Lovely wife.” He kissed her with a passion, dancing his tongue in her mouth as he pushed her against the kelp bed she’d been on moments ago.
“You love me.” He whispered. “And I you, my wife.” She gasped when he touched her and giggled when he mumbled against her skin, pleased and strangely embarrassed at her declaration of love.
“My lovely wife.” Perhaps it was love he felt for her- because nothing else could explain the happiness in his chest when she told him she felt so for him.
