Still hovering in the corner, Santos looked pale and her hand shook slightly as she tucked a few loose strands of hair behind her ear.
“That was a tough one but you did very well, Doctor Santos,” Baran said and Santos gave her a wan smile. “Why don’t you take a few minutes before getting back on the floor?”
For a moment she thought Santos was about to argue with her, but then it was like she deflated further as she nodded. “Yeah, okay,” she said, not meeting Baran’s eyes.
“Good,” Baran said, squeezing her shoulder as she passed her to head toward the door. And she pretended she didn’t notice the way Santos’s breath hitched.

Yolanda wasn’t blind. Seeing Al-Hashimi with her hair down in a little black dress with a plunging neckline she absolutely understood why Trinity found her so attractive. But she made sure to keep her appreciation of Al-Hashimi’s figure off of her face.
“Doctor Garcia, I didn’t expect to see you here.” Al-Hashimi’s tone was clipped, her dark-red painted lips set into a frown, and Yolanda held back a smirk as she took a seat on the stool across from her.
“The ED’s slammed with a bunch of scratched and bruised middle schoolers right now. Trinity’s going to be late.” Yolanda crossed her legs, keeping her back straight and her eyes on Al-Hashimi’s face, watching the way her eyes narrowed in confusion.
“And she… sent you to deliver that message?” Al-Hashimi’s fingers tightened around the glass she was holding, her knuckles going nearly white.
“Fuck no,” Yolanda scoffed and Al-Hashimi seemed to relax at that. “She has no idea I’m here. I wanted to talk to you and it’s not like I have your number.”

“Did you run into a vampire?” Princess gave her a coy look as Trinity stopped in front of the patient board, pointing to a spot on her own neck, just below her ear.
“Shit.” Trinity clapped her hand over the apparent problem spot. “Is it really noticeable?”
Princess gave her a fake grimace, her eyes still shining with amusement, “You could say it was your curling iron.”
Like anyone would believe that Trinity had been curling her hair. And then she remembered the concealer she’d stuck in her pocket, she grabbed it and held it out to Princess.
“Help, please?”

As Victoria spoke, she watched Trinity’s expression lighten. Her eyes were steady on Victoria now and a familiar mirthful smile was playing at the edges of her lips.
“Damn, crash. You wanna kiss me so bad it’s making you look stupid,” she said.
Victoria rolled her eyes, shoving down the relief she felt at the return to their familiar banter. “Shut up,” she said as Trinity’s smile spread into a grin.
“Make me.” Was Trinity’s response, brows raised.
This time when Victoria leaned closer, Trinity met her halfway.

As Samira sat across from Emery in a dimly lit bar, she tried to ignore the voice in the back of her mind that kept pointing out how much this felt like a date.
They were here as colleagues, maybe as friends but even that felt like pushing it, because Emery was giving Samira feedback on her research project. That was all. It was professional, Samira told herself as she read through the menu.
“Order whatever you want, my treat,” Emery said and Samira blinked at her.
“Oh, no, that’s—” had the way she’d been studying the menu made it seem like she was worried about the cost? It was definitely a pricier place than she would’ve picked herself, but it wasn’t like she went out much so she had the disposable income for it.
“I invited you, Doctor Mohan,” Emery said and Samira wondered if she was imagining the way that her eyes seemed to sparkle in the low light. She was at least pretty sure that Emery was teasing her by using her title.
“Well, if you insist, Doctor Walsh,” Samira couldn't help the smile that crossed her lips as she said it.

“I don’t know if I can do this tonight,” Samira’s voice was rough. She didn’t have it in herself to take charge, her usual confidence seemed to have evaporated.
Trinity tucked a loose curl behind her ear and Samira shivered. “Have sex? Or do our… usual dynamic?”
Samira mulled over the question before quietly saying, “The second one.” She ached to be close to Trinity, so much that she couldn’t manage to compose herself.
“Okay,” Trinity said softly. “Can I take care of you? Would you let me do that?” Her eyes were wide, almost pleading, as she waited for Samira’s answer and her hand slid down to cup Samira’s cheek.
Leaning into the touch, Samira nodded.

“So you and Amy really aren’t together?” Trinity asked as she laid in one of the two twin beds in the farmhouse guest room. Whitaker was in the other bed, and apparently always slept there when he was staying over.
“I’ve told you that a million times,” he sounded defeated.
“Yeah, but this sad little twin bed sitch is what really sold it.” Trinity shifted, the box springs creaking beneath her as she tried to get comfortable.
She could hear him sigh even over the sound of her mattress. “Goodnight Trinity.”
But she couldn’t let him go to sleep that easily, not when they were basically having a slumber party. “Do you believe in ghosts?”
“What?” Now his bed was creaking as he rolled onto his side to face her. She could just make out the confused lines of his face in the moonlight that streamed in through the lacy curtains.
“A house this old that’s been in the family for generations, it’s gotta be haunted, right?”
“You believe in ghosts?” The question was drenched in skepticism, like it was completely ridiculous.
“I went to catholic school,” Trinity shrugged and the mattress made a sad groaning noise.

The last woman was in Trinity’s phone under the name Crash and that thread was just full of links to TikToks, whatever the fuck those were.
She clicked on one and the video began to play. But before she could figure out how to use the app, there was a knock on the door.
“Are you seriously on TikTok right now? We’re supposed to leave for brunch in ten minutes,” an exasperated male voice called. “This was your idea, remember?”
“Sorry,” Trinity replied, locking the phone. “I’ll just be a minute.”
Then, softer, the voice said, “It’s okay if you changed your mind. I know yesterday was a tough anniversary for you. I could tell everyone you’re sick.”
Trinity squeezed her eyes shut. It’s not like he knew how fresh that wound was, thirteen years were supposed to have passed between that horrific funeral and the day she was currently in.
“I just lost track of time,” she said. It was strange to hear the way her voice was ever so slightly deeper. “I’m getting dressed now.”
“Alright.” There were no follow-up questions, no guilt-tripping about her being late, but her nerves still spiked as she moved to get ready.

They all had their own choice ways to decompress after a long week and Mel’s was taking a very long shower in the guest bathroom, putting on her comfiest pajamas, making a mug of sleepytime tea, and watching a documentary about bees with her noise cancelling headphones on while she tried to figure out where she’d gone wrong with her newest crocheting project.
The crocheting was new and slow going since she was teaching herself from youtube videos and online instruction blogs, but she was enjoying the challenge. She’d tried a lot of new hobbies over the past year now that Becca had her own life and Mel had suddenly had large swathes of time to fill. Sure a lot of that time was taken up by the whole dating two people thing, but with how busy their separate schedules were there were still plenty of opportunities for Mel to find moments to herself.
Trinity had bought her a kit of allegedly beginner-friendly crochet patterns that were all adorable little animals. The first one she’d completed with relative ease since it had been a simple bluebird that was basically just round. But now she’d moved onto the turtle and she couldn’t figure out how she’d made its little head so misshapen or how she was supposed to attach it to the equally wonky body.
here I’ve been torn between my original mellis shipping and my new love mentos, only to now find out mellisantos is a thing!!! wlwing to newfound heights in the Pitt fandom, bless polyamory 🙏
