5.18.20
Once again I am updating an ungodly time of night (2:37 AM currently) so it’s technically 5/18.
I came to a groundbreaking realization about my breakup and how I’m handling things right now.
I realized how much of my energy I’m spending on my ex, which in hindsight makes no sense. But I’ll admit, I was very codependent. Guess I still am, and am unlearning the unhealthy thinking and habits.
I realized that this energy needs to go to myself, above anyone else. I have been chasing him, and for what? For another ignored text message? So I can keep wasting my time waiting around? So I can keep getting hurt?
I’m ready to be free. I do not want to be defined by this one moment in time. I have a life to live. And since the actual breakup things have been said unnecessarily that really, really hurt, and I think if he actually cared then it never would’ve been brought up just to hurt me. Let’s not even talk about how quickly he moved on (while still claiming to be hurt by the breakup??), which my mom says is kinda messed up, but I have mixed feelings. So why am I expending all of my damn energy on this, again?
I’m done wasting my energy on anxiety about a guy who doesn’t give a shit. It’s kind of a general rule, if they can’t match the amount of energy you’re putting forth, don’t keep wasting it. I am not going to put all this stock into someone who can’t return it.
I’m learning to love and respect myself, and right now I respect myself enough to do what’s best for me. This is no longer serving me. And everything is a process, but at least I’m ready to begin.
I have been defending this person to the death for the last 2 weeks. Coming up with excuses for why he’s done things that hurt me. Refusing to admit that it could be a possibility that it’s not entirely my fault. I still claim responsibility for things I’ve done to hurt him because those things are very real and the feelings are very real, I’m not saying I’m perfect and didn’t mess up at all. But I cannot burden myself with the entire load of the breakup, and I can’t keep wasting my time on him when I have my recovery to worry about.
And I’ve realized, sometimes people just don’t end up being or acting like who you thought they would. That’s life. And it’s painful. I shared 4.5 years of my life with this person, bared my soul to this person, and this is how it ends up.
I’m going to redirect my energy towards what really matters. I’m not going to chase him anymore. I’m not going to defend him anymore. I am forgiving myself. I am doing what’s best for me even though the best thing isn’t the easiest thing.
This is it, right? Putting myself first? Yeah, gonna do that now.
Thanks for listening, if you did lol. Kinda long.
Sometimes it feels like things will never change, but then positive change was around the corner the whole time.
Thinking hurts, so why not surrender to AI?
Generative AI is increasingly tempting people to skip the hard work of thinking altogether — and Enrique Dans argues this is no accident. When AI responses sound polished and confident, users naturally lower their guard, accepting outputs without scrutiny. Dans calls this "cognitive surrender": the gradual habit of letting AI reason on our behalf rather than using it to sharpen our own reasoning.
The deeper concern is not AI's limitations, but its persuasiveness. In education, the workplace, and everyday decision-making, speed is winning over depth. When effortless answers are always one prompt away, the incentive to struggle through a problem — and grow from it — quietly disappears. Dans warns that what looks like a productivity gain may actually be a slow erosion of the critical thinking skills that make us effective in the first place.
Why it matters for communicators: Fluency is not the same as accuracy — and audiences are increasingly unable to tell the difference, which means the communicator's responsibility to verify, contextualize, and challenge AI-assisted content has never been higher.
Don't just take the shortcut — read Dans' full argument and decide for yourself whether you're using AI or letting it use you.
I hate how adrift I always feel the day after a good writting session. When I write slowly (as I usually do) it is incredibly frustrating and tiring but it does have the plus side of not giving me any buzz to come off of. But when I actually goes from begining to end in one sitting ? incredibly nice in the moment but the aftermath is just so fucking weird ! not just weird in "i'm moody for no reason" (though I am) either, it's a the-skin-over-my-hands-fits-just-slightly-wrong kind of weird. I hate it.
the solution would be to never stop writting but i do not have that kind of stamina either lol

Day 4 of writing my feelings on Tumblr
Hi all so lately, this past week I have not been in the mood to workout. My job requires a lot of physical activity. And by time I get home I am way too tired to wanna do anything lately. Does that happen to anyone else? Last week and the week before I was doing about 4 miles of biking. I really wanna make a good schedule where at least 2 days a week I’m doing an and arm workouts but traveling to the gym is something I dread. Anyway today was an alright day, my boss comes back to work on Monday and I am sort of very nervous about it. Because I was sort of avoiding them the last time I saw them. And I’m scared how to be around them. I am not sure if she likes me or not. I’m wondering if I should just pretend in a nice way i don’t notice her or continue to like her and try to be close with her. But because I feel shame for being gay I am not too sure. It is something I go back and fourth on. As I’m very hurt from my last relationship still. I’d love to write more but I am so tired I dont have the energy. Maybe I should start working out in the morning and see how that goes because I’d say that’s when I have the most energy but I’m definitely not a morning person. Ugh the struggle of life.
the box
Another year has come and gone but with now a pandemic upon us. As I write this message i’m in the basement as opposed to being out a coffee shop. I haven’t seen my immediate family in 9+ months and I have no desire to mingle with extended family. I still struggle with loneliness and mental health issues but on most days its good. Growing up Indian mental health was never discussed, even today its the same within some parts of my family. I refer to this is as the box. As I think of the box, is it the more conservative you are the smaller your box is? Is it my job to figure out everyones box then adapt myself accordingly? the latter is what I settled on and helps my mental health but probably hurts my social interactions.
With the career, I still do not know what I want or where I want to be? I’m making decent money. But I know money isnt the answer. Everyone keeps asking my advice on everything. but no one calls just to check in.
Its coming on 24 years since a year that changed my life dramatically. At least in hindsight It I think thats the case. Am I just trying to fit this episode in my box?
its January 2 2021, I want to write in this blog more this year. I hope I can keep that resolution.
