Well after 30 years (3 hours) I have finally finished me drawings of what I think mikol and Peepaw Willy look like. If there are details you feel should be different o added please feel free to (KINDLY) share. Now, allow me to turn into madame yaps-a-lot as I talk about my design choices, analysis of their dynamic, etc etc blah blah blah
GUYS. PLEASE BRACE URSELVES FOR PARAGRAPHS OF COMMONLY KNOWN INFORMATION.
A lot if William’s design is sort of self-explained in the text. In an interview (I forget with who) William was describes as being some sort of “snake oil salesman,” and his voice actor PJ Heywood took inspiration from Hannibal Lecter and the Candyman (I think) in order to make this come across. From his lines in SL, I felt like William was a very theatrical (shown better in later games) and arrogant individual who uses what he feels is his power and influence to dance around questions and make others feel small. I tried to carry this through in my design by making bro look AS DEVIOUS AS POSSIBLE. I took inspiration from Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, and also obviously the design in the graphic novels with his fuckass British man teeth. I also gave him shoulder pads, which would make sense in the 80s and also because I felt it gave him a sharper look that carried his character across well. Bro probably feels like Timmy tuff-knuckles with those big ass shoulders lol LOOOOOOOSER
I don’t have nearly AS much to say about Michael’s design, simply because we don’t get nearly AS much characterization from him in the series. (Voice acting-wise, we only hear him ONCE in Sister location throughout the entire franchise. WHY. DID YOU DO MY BOY SO DIRTY MR CAWTHON) SO I took what we ARE familiar with about his design elements in the 80s and just…. Drew that. For his full outfit with the jacket, I made it red instead of purple just to differentiate him from William. It also ties to his foxy mask and the fact that all of his writing in the security logbook is done in red ink. Plus, based on how I interpret Michael and William’s dynamic (from what little we know) I feel like he wouldn’t WILLINGLY wear his dad’s signature colors until later in the franchise. (He become ourple). Last note on Mikol, I tried to make his similar to William feature-wise, but gave him a softer + boxier look as he’s obviously still a teenage and contrasts with William’s sharp, pointy look. (We all know pointy triangle = evil. This is because trigonometry exists) Also I gave him a mullet because who doesn’t at this point
OOOOOKAAAAAYYYYY now I’m gonna talk about dynamics because I have no one else to yap to about this and if I DON’T. TALK ABOUT IT i will turn into a bomb. We’re going into my little conspiracy land here for a little bit. OK but NO LIE I feel like the BEST interpretation of William and Michael’s relationship comes from the animated series “Fredbear’s Family Diner” on youtube by Jack Ryan Southgate (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WATCH BRO ITS SO EPIC AND YOU CANS EE THE IMPROVEMENT AS IT GOES ON ITS LITERALLY SO PEAK…) with it hinting (and occasionally showing) at Michael having to go through a lot of emotional and physical abuse. (Is this surprising? No. Obviously. William’s a psychopath, but some people get it mixed up and simply think he was super absent (WHICH IS ALSO TRUE BUT JUST LISTEN)) I feel like in the FNAF story, Michael was likely the “scapegoat child” (common among older siblings), Evan/C.C. Was the “forgotten child”, and Elizabeth is obviously the “golden child”. Typical family with a narcissistic parent stuff. I feel like the abuse combined with Evan being the “forgotten, easy target” is probably why Michael specifically targets him AND generally takes it too far with bullying. If he was an ass to Elizabeth (which he obviously probably was sometimes based on what we know about his character) he’d probably get an avengers level ass whooping. Anyways I’m so sorry for yapping. This is probably common information for most people but like… damn none of my friends wanna here about this and I GOTTA TALK ABOUT IT SOMEHOW anyways bye :3
