genuine question, i promise this is in good faith, please don't hate me for this, im just curious. you said "pussy" is a slur. im not a native english speaker, so correct me if im wrong, but slurs are exclusively used against people, right? again, not my first language, but most commonly when i see "pussy" used as an insult when it's against a man considered not brave enough, or, sometimes, feminine men. not the only way it's been used, im sure, but it's what ive personally seen more commonly. if it's a slur, would that make it a slur used against feminine men?
slurs are exclusively used against people, right?
Right.
most commonly when i see "pussy" used as an insult when it's against a man considered not brave enough, or, sometimes, feminine men.
Yes. I love the accidental implication that men are not people, lol.
if it's a slur, would that make it a slur used against feminine men?
Wrong.
(definition number 1 is cropped because it's just a cat)
Notice how definition 2 states that pussy refers to female genitalia, and sometimes women in general as sexual objects (ex: ''I need to get some pussy'', etc).
So, pussy refers to female genitalia. Therefore, it's associated with stereotypes attributed to women. Women are seen as (or expected to be) timid and cowardly. Calling a woman a pussy for being cowardly is rare, sure. However, it is common for women to be referred to as "pussy" in a sexual context.
You have to look at the reason a word is used the way it is. Calling men pussies for being stereotypically feminine means that the core of the insult lies in the association with femininity. Generally, our society associates femininity with womanhood. This hypothetical man is not being disparaged for being a man, he's being disparaged for being feminine.
decided i'm gonna try to start tagging b*tch, c***, and w**** since they are after all misogynistic slurs. gonna tag as #b word #c word #w word
if i miss any please feel free to let me know. if you want any other tags please let me know. i’m not going to tag for usernames, just text/text in images. unless you want that to change.
also please let me know if there is anything else you want me to tag. even if it's a "weird" trigger.
by the power of vagueness
One time a terf spammed my inbox with a bunch of transphobic messages and one of them simply read "cunt/bitch" which I understand was meant to hurt because they're sexist words associated with women but I really just enjoy the slash, because it feels like they were giving me options. Bitch or cunt. Whichever you prefer
(?) 🦋 People act like me being raped doesn’t matter because I’m a boy. My friend keeps talking about rape in front of me and calling me a slut when I told her to stop, and she implies that as a girl she has more right to be bothered by rape than me. And people I know have experienced it will glare at me if I nod at something they say. Why don’t my friends care? Is there something wrong with me? Does it not matter that I was raped because I’m a boy? Are my friends right that guys deserve it?
Hello,
Your “friend” is not acting like a friend she is being emotionally abusive to call you slurs and to downplay your trauma. There is no reason for her to do that and it’s a preparation of victim-blaming.
The general idea that boys can’t be assault is something that is born from patriarchy and rape culture. It has ideas how people ought to act and how perfect a victim has to be they must fit a laundry list of attributes and to not fit them you are then not a real victim. If you don’t fit what they think victims out to be then they will tell you that you deserved it.
But you are not to blame here. Because males can be raped by both other males and females. Rape is any non-consensual/unwanted penatration of genitals, digits or foreign objects into the vagina, anus or mouth.
There is nothing wrong with you. I don’t know why no one around you isn’t listening other then people have very skewed ideas of sexual violence that almost never has anything to do with real victims and are even less often trauma-informed. Also, that emotional abuse, peer violence and the making of outcasts in social groups is an unhealthy traumatic environment for kids and young people that we have decided is normal, and it isn’t. Peer abuse is never okay and I’m so sorry your friends degrade you.
No one deserves to be on the receiving end of sexual violence. Not for their sex, gender, sexual orientation, what they were warning, where they were, how loud they screamed or the gender of the person doing the violence. You were not to blame. Boys, and that includes you, do not deserve to be sexually violated ever.
I hope this helps,

A man tried to say how using slurs in a debate against the other debater is fine because
" its just a word if they get triggered by a word and feel the need to lash out or end the debate because of a word then they lost the argument not the person who used the slurs."
No dear the person who used the slurs lost the argument
BECAUSE THEY USED SLURS!!
THERE IS NO REASON TO CALL SOMEONE A SLUR IN A DEBATE.
There is 0 reasons to use a slur against the other debater.
If you're nasty enough to use a slur in a debate you automatically lose the argument.
If a person is being called a slur ends the argument let me make something clear
THEY HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO END THE DEBATE BECAUSE THEY ARE BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST.
THEY LEAVE BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANNA DEAL WITH DISCRIMINATION DOESN'T MEAN THE PERSON WHO USED THE SLURS WON THE DEBATE.
You can't be like
" yay I won this debate by discriminating against someone until they left the debate because I was harassing them by using slurs!!"
THATS NOT HOW DEBATING WORKS!!
Debates = civil conversation
Debates =/= DISCRIMINATION
