In Jewish Tradition, the concept of 'sin' doesn't necessarily mean what you think it means: and it can be a transformational concept that helps us to become better versions of ourselves.
In Hebrew, the words often translated as "sin" does mean all of the negative things our culture associates with the word, but it also means so much more. Everything from a "misstep" or an "oops," to a spiritual moment to make amends and learn from this particular experience.
Come join Rabbi Gischner as we begin the spiritual process of reflecting on our year as we celebrate the first of Elul together, to reflect on who we have been and who we are becoming as we enter the new year of 5784 together.

“A Jewish Perspective on Sin,” Class

Register as a part of Wrestling with Torah’s High Holy Days 5781! Schedule here.
Class Description: “Sin” has a very different connotation in Judaism than it does in other faith traditions! Come learn about the meaning of the word in context and how you can use this concept to transform your life-- to transform your relationship with justice work, with your family and friends, your relationship with God, and your relationship with yourself.
Having a worst regret betrays your belief that one misstep caused all your undeserved misfortune.

What You Wanted (PTKD Sequel)
I have decided to draw inspiration from folklore rather than transplanting folkloric creatures/spirits from now on because I want to HONOR but I also don’t want to STEAL.
Mostly, new creatures and beings and spirits will be original amalgamations that formed FROM people’s stories / folklore, but did not follow that script exactly. Or limit themselves to one script.
Some people might point at my ROTG fic Misstep / Cold and Dark and say, “Hey, you represent a VARIETY of pantheons of gods and spirits etc. in that story which is entirely about gods & spirits etc.” This is because I was a fool. I honestly don’t know if I can continue that one with how deeply I’ve sunken certain characters into the plot and I don’t know if I’ll be taking it down or just discontinuing it. I’m not sure how I can edit that one, if at all.
tldr: In the battle between representation and appropriation, I have decided to err on the side of let’s not be a dick. I’ll keep representation limited to human characters instead of also using specific folklore creatures.
This will probably make the chapters a little faster since I won’t be researching for hours trying to find creatures that match the plot point at hand and whether or not it’s okay for me to have them in this story.
It also means things people have guessed may no longer be entirely accurate!
