Any more cute headcanons for your favorite couples you wanna share? :)
Leokumi: When Leo and Takumi were first getting to know each other sometimes (frequently) they would have those arguments over who was stronger. It would usually start pretty civil, but Leo would always end up teasing him about how all he needed to do was get into close range and Takumi would be finished, since he wouldn’t be able to use his bow.
Takumi eventually gets sick of this and challenges him to a duel. As expected, Leo tries to get in close so he can’t use his weapon effectively. What he did not expect, however, was for Takumi to grab his bow by one end and swing it at him like a baseball bat. Luckily it just kind of knocked the wind out of him and nobody got hurt, but he does have to offer his grudging respect to Takumi after that one. Though aloud he’ll describe it as “barbaric” to use a divine weapon in such a manner.
Dimidue: Alright so I was thinking about wedding traditions for both countries. In Faerghus it’s considered bad luck if it rains during a wedding, which is why they try not to hold any during the rainy season.
In Duscur, it’s extremely good luck if it rains during a wedding. From what I gather, Duscur has a rather arid climate, so rain is seen as a blessing. If it rains during a wedding, then they believe that the sky god is so happy about the union he’s weeping from joy for the couple.
Now, Dimitri and Dedue hold two weddings: One in the typical Faerghian style, and one a more traditional Duscur wedding. Maybe you see where I’m going with this. It starts raining during the latter ceremony, and Dimitri is nearly in tears because he wanted the day to be perfect, and now it’s cursed thanks to the stupid weather. So Dedue takes his hand and whispers “Rain is good.” into his ear, with a small smile and the promise of an explanation later.
Sylvix: Contrary to popular belief, Felix is the one that figures out his emotions first. I mean, he’s emotionally constipated as hell so he’d never act on them, but he’s basically known that he’s been crushing hard on Sylvain since they were five years old. He’s been secretly pining for like fifteen years before Sylvain finally catches on.
Only part of that is just being an oblivious bastard. The perceptive part of him refuses to interpret anything Felix does as signalling romantic interest, because he just feels like it’s too good to be true. His best friend? Showing genuine interest in him as a human being, not just for his money or his crest? Preposterous. He’s always loved Felix, but he refused to acknowledge that there could be romantic love between them until they’re in their 20′s and someone, somewhere knocks some sense into him.
Hey, what if Willow Schnee (a.k.a. Ice Queen Mom) actually becomes the Winter Maiden? I mean, it's unlikely, she isn't the youngest... But still. It is worth a thought. Or hey... Wait. Even better: what if Neo disguises as Winter and gets a hold of the Winter Maiden powers like that somehow? Aaaaaaah, may I ask you to comment on these thoughts?
Hiya Mizu. Apologies for the late response. Hmm, while I like your theory, I’m not so sure about Willow Schnee ever becoming the Winter Maiden though. For me, I always figured that Willow’s key role for the Atlas Arc was assisting Weiss in reconnecting with her grandfather: Nicholas Schnee—the original founder of the Schnee Dust Company.
However, some RWBY theorists have mentioned that the RWBY Theme: Path to Isolation hinted that Nicholas Schnee passed away prior to the main story. This bummed me out a bit since I was hoping for us to at least get a glimpse of ole St. Nick. Perhaps even have Weiss learn of her grandfather’s true location and go in search of him with her mother’s help in hopes of convincing him to reclaim the Schnee Dust Company from her father.
But with Nick believed to be deceased, this leaves his daughter—-Mama Schnee a.k.a Willow as the closest thing to a true heir that Nick had. If anything, my hopes now is that Jacques is dethroned as Head of Schnee Dust Company with Willow pulling herself together to take his place as she rightfully should have long ago.
While I’m unsure of Willow’s personality, I’d like to think that Willow must’ve been Nick’s eldest or only child and it wouldn’t have surprised me if Willow was the one person who knew her father better than anyone else in her family. She probably even had a much better idea of how Nick would’ve ran the company and probably would’ve made a more fitting successor to her father than her so-called “husband”.
Back in V4, Weiss told Yang that on her tenth birthday, her father callously revealed that the only reason he married Willow was because of her family name. So it wouldn’t surprise me if the only reason that Jacques managed to convince Nicholas to sign the Schnee Dust Company over to him was with Willow’s support. Here’s what I’m thinking.
My theory is Willow Schnee was originally meant to become Nicholas’ successor with St. Nick planning to leave both his company and his legacy in the hands of his beloved daughter. However, once Jacques got his slimy hand rubbing Willow’s back, he was able to persuade Willow into convincing her father to make Jacques the new CEO in her place. Tie that all in with Jacques proposing to Willow just to further win her approval. I’d like to believe that Willow has always been the core reason that Jacques became Head of Schnee Dust Company in the first place. If she hadn’t fervently vouched on Jacques’ behalf then her father would’ve never agreed to the idea.
Perhaps toss in the notion of Willow never truly desiring to inherit her father’s company out of her own fears of never being able to measure up to her father’s legacy and expectations of her. Unlike Jacques’ relationship with his children, I’d like to believe that Willow shared a very close relationship with her father so his inevitable passing probably hit her more than anyone. All the more reason why I think it would be a fitting conclusion for Willow if she ends up taking over as CEO of Schnee Dust Company in Jacques place—finally standing up to Jacques and taking back what he stole from her and her family.
The allusion seems to be that Jacques broke Willow. So what I’m banking on is Willow piecing herself back together through the love and support of her children and taking back what probably should’ve been hers from the get-go. Starting with her father’s company.
Despite Nick signing the company over to Jacques, I’d like or at least I’d hope that there is a chance for his leadership to be relinquished back to Willow as she was always meant to be the rightful successor to the Schnee Dust Company as the daughter of its founder. That’s my main headcanon for Willow.
She will replace Jacques as CEO of Schnee Dust Company and work together with Whitley to undo the mess Jacques’ reign has done to tarnish the family business.
I say Willow and Whitley together since I’m hoping that there is at least somewhat of a bond between Willow and her children; inclusive of Whitley.
Since Whitley is the Schnee child who is often at home, it’d be interesting if Whitley does spend part of his time being the one to mostly look after his mother or at least look out for her. Since the idea is that Jacques doesn’t seem to care that much about his wife, I’m looking to Whit to be the person to cater for hismother’s well-being.
I didn’t get any impressions of animosity towards Mama Schnee from Whit back in V4. He more so kept tabs on her whereabouts and activities at home. So I’m hoping that should Willow somehow be absent or excuse herself from the Schnee Dinner Party for this new episode, Whit would be the one to inform Weiss of how she’s been coping since she was last home.
Or something to that liking. But yeah, that’s what I believe will be Willow’s destiny. Not to become the next Winter Maiden (since she has zero connection to Fria and not even Winter herself seems to think about her mother much since she disowned herself from the Schnee family name) but to become the rightful Head of the Schnee Dust Company in place of Jacques after he falls further from grace and Willow is finally able to put the Jacques-ass in his place.
As for your next point regarding Neo becoming Winter Maiden via impersonating Winter—now that’s a theory that I think you’re might be onto something with, fam.
Since the conclusion of the Battle of Haven highlighted our heroes successfully claiming their first Relic, my assumption is that the Fall of Atlas will give our heroes their second biggest loss since the Fall of Beacon while simultaneously marking the first time they lost a Relic to the enemy.
Since Ironwood revealed to Oscar that the only thing keeping Atlas airborne is the Relic of Creation then that line alone was mega foreshadowing for the kingdom falling straight out of the sky as a result of someone taking the Relic.
Last time, with Yang, it was a hero to retrieve the Relic of Knowledge from the Vault of the Spring Maiden.
So naturally, I’m expecting the reverse this time with a villain claiming the Relic of Creation from the Vault of the Winter Maiden, resulting in Atlas plummeting to decimate Mantle below. It’ll be the double homicide of both of Solitas’ signature kingdoms.
Ironically enough, perhaps… this will be what leads to the People of Mantle and Atlas finally coming together when they have to rebuild a new home for themselves from scratch. But perhaps I’m getting too ahead of myself here.
As you brought up Neo impersonating Winter, I wonder if this will be part of the “cruel thing” that Neo has been alluded to commit since V6.
What if…by some means, Neo and Cinder learn of the identity and whereabouts of the Fria as well as her connection to Winter.
So as you said, Neo will impersonate Winter and the cruel thing Neo will do is murder Fria—probably by either smothering her to death with a pillow or via strangulation all the while using the face Fria trusted the most—Winter’s—up until the very end when she reveals her true self to Fria so that the last thing she sees before the poor old woman breathes her last breath is Neo’s face silently smirking down at her as Fria’s powers are absorbed into Neo’s body.
I mean Neo has done some shady things in the past courtesy of her time spent working alongside Roman Torchwick. However, I’d like to think not even Torchwick would’ve encouraged his young accomplice to steal magic from an innocent old lady. I mean that facetiously. Who knows what Roman would’ve condoned Neo to do if he was still alive.
Strangely enough to say, I kind of like the concept of Neo becoming the Winter Maiden because I see it as symbolic. Not just for the obvious pun of our veteran ice-cream-inspired character gaining magical powers over the element of ice.
But if Neo kills Fria then she would no longer be like Torchwick anymore. The thing with Neo was that she was supposed to represent the female equivalent of Roman as his right hand protégée, right?
But if Neo kills Fria then she would be just like Cinder. Cinder only retrieved her Fall Maiden magic by stealing it from her predecessor through murder by her own hands. If Neo ends up doing the exact same thing as Cinder then to me I will see that action as synonymous with her shedding the part that she shared with Torchwick and becoming more like Cinder Fall; her new master. At least, that’s impression she gives; even to Cinder.
I mean I don’t like the thought of yet another Maiden’s powers being stolen through them being murdered by their ‘successor’;however…somehow I can see this becoming canonical. There is no doubt in my mind that a villain is going to claim the Relic of Creation and spark the Fall of Atlas.
What I’m mostly curious about is…how soon will Cinder turn on Neo?
If Neo successfully becomes the Winter Maiden, there is no way Cinder is going to allow her to hold onto that kind of power for long. If Cinder attempted to steal the Spring Maiden magic back in V5 then Cinder will definitely do the same thing for the Winter Maiden magic.
In her megalomaniac mind, Cinder believes all the Maiden magic belongs to her. Neo, despite being her perfect little pawn for now, is no exception.
So my hunch is that Cinder will use Neo for as long as she needs her to. Use her to steal the Winter Maiden magic from Fria (since she’s best person for the job). Use her to kill Ruby and if that fails, she’ll use her to claim the Relic of Creation just for the sake of killing Ruby via Fallen Kingdom at the expense of all of Atlas and Mantle.
And once Neo has done Cinder’s bidding, she’ll kill her off. Or…at least she’d try to and possibly fail.
Do you know what would be the penultimate perfect poetic irony?
If Cinder tries to double cross Neo but Neo manages to outsmart Cinder first.
And not only does Neo manage to survive the Fall of Atlas with the Winter Maiden magic still in her possession but what if...she also makes away with Relic of Creation. Upon learning the abilities of the staff, Neo attempts to use it for the single purpose of fulfilling her greatest wish—bringing Torchwick back from the dead.
Imagine if…Neo uses the power of the staff and Torchwick is brought back but…not exactly. Like all the staff is able to do is recreate or rather replicate Torchwick’s likeness making a perfect replica of his original form but…minus the part of Torchwick that made him the man Neo knew and loved—his soul.
So what Neo basically ends up with is a soulless husk that looks like Torchwick but isn’t him since he doesn’t recognize Neo. However Neo doesn’t care. All that mattered to her was that Torchwick was back with her again. Even if he was just an animated yet empty husk of himself who needed Neo to mostly look after him all the time, Neo didn’t mind. She would’ve happily looked after this version of Torchwick for the rest of her life just as he did for her so long ago.
Basically picture part of Neo’s story mimicking Salem’s from the Lost Fable. The tragic tale of a young woman whose life was changed for the better through the companionship and love of a man who freed her from her isolation and loneliness. Only for her to lose that man.
Let’s say…even though Neo thought revenge was all she needed to rid her of the pain she felt from losing Torchwick, I definitely like the idea of Neo switching motives after somehow learning of the true power of the Relic of Creation and what it could do for her.
So gaining it’s power, no matter the cost, becomes Neo’s motive outside of working with Cinder. So it’s no longer Cinder using Neo to gain what she desires but Neo simultaneously using Cinder to get what she wants as well—only unlike Cinder, Neo is more discreet than the Fall Maiden.
And what could be interesting if that aspect of Cinder—doing whatever you can to look out for own desires—is what rubs off on Neo and what she ironically ends up using against Cinder in the end.
So basically, in the end, after using the Relic of Creation to bring him back, Neo takes Replica Torchwick and together the two go into hiding— taking refuge in the desert sands of Vacuo in the hopes that they would be able to build a new life for themselves while avoiding certain people who Neo believed might come searching for her.
Since Ironwood mentioned that the Staff of Creation can only be used for one purpose at a time, let’s say—the only way Neo could keep Replica Torchwick alive is with the Staff itself. And once she used the staff to create Replica Torchwick, she couldn’t use it for anything else again. So pretty much, as my concept says, the only thing keeping Replica Torchwick alive was the Staff.
Who knows? Maybe in order to recreate Replica Torchwick, the staff was absorbed into his cloned body resulting in the Staff of Creation somewhat becoming Replica Torchwick. Or at least its seemingly unlimited power became Replica Torchwick while the staff part of it was rendered useless.
Now I know Neo stealing both the Winter Maiden magic and the Relic of Creation to run away to Vacuo to play house with a replica of the man she loved recreated by the Relic itself sounds mighty stretchy for a headcanon.
But nonetheless, y’know what? I really, really like it. I don’t usually share Neopolitan Headcanons so this one’s going to be another rare keeper for me like my Red Queen Cinder Fall Headcanon.
After the CRWBY brought Neo back into the story, this squiggle meister had no bloody clue what they were going to do with her after she was done being used as Cinder’s pawn.
I mean I’m not that big of a Neo stan myself. As a matter of fact, the one thing I loved about Neo’s character was her relationship with Torchwick courtesy of RWBY Chibi warming me up to the Froyo pairing.
All the more reason for me to love my headcanon of Neo making away with Relic of Creation after the Fall of Atlas and using its power to bring back Torchwick in a way to that she can live the life with him she always dreamed of having.
Her own happily ever after that she forged for the two of them—no matter the costs.
I know its not likely to happen in the canon. However I think it would’ve been an interesting way to give Neo a story that was influenced by the people she worked closely with in her life but still her own, y’know what I mean?
A story that she took charge and molded for herself and wasn’t mostly just her being an accomplice to another villain...again.
I mean if I were a CRWBY Writer and was tasked with crafting a story for Neo following her return in V6, this is probably where I would’ve gone with it as my own interpretation.
Plus from this, I really dig the thought of Ruby meeting Replica Torchwick and harbouring a bit ofanimosity towards him because, of course, the only memories that the little redrose has of Torchwick were the ones of him being a cold-hearted criminal whoaided Salem in the destruction of her former huntsmen academy and tried to kill her and her friends on so many occasions.
However ReplicaTorchwick, being only a copy of the original Torchwick in face, has no memories of either Ruby orthe crimes he committed in his ‘first life’.
Asa matter of fact, thanks to Neo’s nurturing, Replica Torchwick is a much kinder, compassionate man than the person Ruby knew him once to be.
So it’s a scenario whereReplica Torchwick meets Ruby and tries to chum up to her but because she onlyknew him as a criminal, it makes it difficult for Ruby to feel nothing but anger towards the man.
And I like this ideasince it plays off of reliability with Oscar. I mean he of all charactersknows what it’s like to shoulder the responsibilities and of course, the blame forthe repercussions of actions committed by his own past selves.
So in this scenarioI can picture Oscar being more sympathetic with Replica Torchwick and helping Rubyto understand where the doppelganger is coming from. Not to mention that I can see Oscar being the one to convince Neo that Replica Torchwick isn’t the man she once knew.
After all, for my story, once the heroes find Neo and Replica Torchwick in Vacuo, Neo will be forced to give up the happily ever after she had tried desperately to build for the mere sake of stopping the end of the world from the Wrath of the Gods, the Plight of a Second Great War of Remnant and perhaps even the Rise of Cinder Fall after she becomes the Red Queen—the new leader of the Grimm in place of Salem who was defeated and purified of her darkness by the Rosegardening Rosebuds—at least that’s how it is in my version of her fate.
And who knows? If I was in charge of writing Neo’s story, I’d do this and still find a way to give a silver lining to her unhappy ending that fits into the pre-established rules of the canon.
Like let’s say—even though Neo had to give the Winter Maiden magic back to Oscar (still sticking to my headcanon of him revoking all of Ozma’s magic back from the Maidens starting with Cinder)and ‘kill’ Replica Torchwick to return the power of the Relic of Creation—in the end, she still gets to continue the life the two made together in the most unexpected way.
While Replica Torchwick might not have been a good example of creation—the life he made together with Neo inclusive of the unborn child they conceived together was creation. One built on love.
But y’know…these are all mostly just my ideas and I’m not a CRWBY Writer---probably thankfully so. Still it would’ve been cool to see some of these ideas done. Probably not all. But some. I really like the idea of Neo becoming the Winter Maiden and taking the Relic of Creation for herself. I think that would’ve been a cool twist especially on Neo’s part.
Anyways, sorry for going off on a headcanon tangent Mizu. Overall, in a nutshell, I think your theory of Neo becoming the Winter Maiden is pretty interesting Mizu and I can see it being a possibility. Those are my thoughts on that, for now.
If you could wish for any world in Kingdom Hearts (regardless of it being Disney's or Square's property or not) that hasn't been visited yet: which would it be and why?
Good question!
Oh man, any world, huh? I’ll start with Disney/Square properties first:
Disney/Square:
The Sword in the Stone (1963) - We’ve had Merlin in the series for quite some time now, so a world inspired by the movie he’s from makes perfect sense. The whole excalibur plotline would tie in nicely with the idea of being chosen by the Keyblade, and I feel like Arthur/Wart would really look up to Sora. It would also give Sora the chance to pass on what he learned in DDD (that he doesn’t mind if he wasn’t chosen, he’s just happy to be a part of something bigger).
Marry Poppins (1964) - Not necessarily for the live action parts, but for the portion where they go into the chalk drawings. It would be a fun “world-within-a-world” a la Timeless River in KH2. Imagine how dapper the character(s) would look.
Robin Hood (1973) - I have a huge soft spot for this film and would love to see it in the series. The characters are so fun and lovable and Sherwood Forest and Nottingham and the castle could all be explorable areas. There could be minigames related to archery, and Sora could get a bow and arrow Keyblade transformation. I also think Robin and Marian’s whole childhood sweethearts thing ties in well to KH.
Fantasia 2000 (2000) - For the firebird as a boss fight mainly, because I want to whack things with a Keyblade while listening to Stravinksy’s awesome music and watching gorgeous visual effects unfold onscreen. The Fantasia world in DDD was absolutely beautiful, and I love how they used the original classical music and would love to see that kind of world make a return.
Atlantis (2001) - Goes without saying, this would make an absolutely incredible world. The art design and amount of effort that went into the worldbuilding (including hiring the linguist who made Klingon to make an entire language specifically for this movie!) really doesn’t get the credit it deserves, and it would make an amazing world to explore. The characters are so much fun too, and would make great helpers with unique battle styles. The “lost technology” from the movie would be good for minigames like the ones in Space Paranoids and The Grid.
Treasure Planet (2002) - I also have a huge soft spot for this film, but it would make an excellent world IMO. Datamining of DDD has even shown that it may have been planned originally for that game, so it’s not without precedence.
The characters are awesome, too, and exploring the setting would be so much fun (the art design is gorgeous!) and once again, Sora could do so much in terms of movement (flying, riding the ship, etc.) The theme of finding a family fits KH so well too, and it would be great to have Captain Amelia, John Silver, Doctor Doppler, etc. in your party. Plus Morph is adorable and imagine him imitating Donald to mess with him.
The Princess and the Frog (2009) - Tiana would be a great new Princess of Heart (as one of the New Seven Hearts). And the setting of the movie would make for a unique world design we haven’t seen too much of in the series yet - New Orleans in the 1920s, the Louisiana bayou, jazz music… man it would be cool. And the villain Dr. Facilier? Perfect for KH. His “friends on the other side” could easily be Heartless or what have you. Yeah, this movie is screaming to be a KH world. The boss fight against him could have a really unique/fun design as well, considering his powers and abilities.
Moana (2016) - I am a bad Disney fan and have not seen this movie yet (I know I know, shame on me!), but everything about what I do know about indicates it would be an awesome world. So yep, including it on this list.
Coco (2017) - Considering how the KH universe has been dealing with the afterlife (or borderline afterlife) lately, Coco seems like a shoo-in for a world. Plus, the theme of family would fit in really well with the KH series. While yes, Sora’s mom hasn’t been heard from since that fateful scene in KH1, I’d argue Sora’s friends are as close as family to him, and that would resonate well with the themes of Coco. Plus the art design and music of the movie is absolutely gorgeous (both the world of the living and the afterlife) and would be a unique addition to the KH series.
Non-Disney/Square
Anastasia (1997) - Though honestly, of all the KH characters, I feel like this would be a good world for Ven to go to? He’d relate to the whole amnesia-and remembering-your-past plotline that Anastasia goes through. It would make a good world visit for Kairi too, for that matter. Maybe they could go together if they’re both searching for Sora?
…I’m sure I could think of more, but this list is getting long as it is, haha. Thanks for the ask!
mizuike replied to your post “I honestly don’t understand the writers’ intentions with regards to...”
They probably tried to write a relatable villain. Someone the player, while heavily disagreeing, can still understand (why they are doing what they are doing) and maybe even sympathize with, all while disagreeing with them. Some sort of Anakin Skywalker if you will allow me that comparison. He is evil after Episode III, but you can still sympathize with him if you know that his motive for coming to the dark side is that he wanted to save his loved one Padmé.
I don’t know about you, but Edelgard is extremely hard to relate to for me. I can’t even think of a single thing I relate to her about. She doesn’t even have a goal I can sympathize with. Saving Padme, sure I can sympathize with that. Wanting to conquer the world and rule as Emperor, uh...I can’t sympathize with that.
P.S. I see what she says about crests, nobility, etc as basically selfishness and extremism dressed up as populism.
I know I am a bit late, but... Any headcanons what our Rosebuds give each other for christmas, if they do celebrate in Remnant? Also, merry Christmas to you in Australia, since it is already the 24th there. Not sure if you unwrap your presents on the 24th or 25th of December, but here in Germany, gift time is at the evening of the 24th, usually before the family dinner :)
Hiya and blessings for the season to you and your family too, Mizu. Actually I’m not from Australia. This squiggle meister hails from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago (mainly the big sister isle of Trinidad). In Trinbago, we celebrate Christmas Eve on the 24th, Christmas Day on the 25th and Boxing Day on 26th. Present gifting and unwrapping usually happens on the main Christmas Day ^u^)b. Either way, I hope you’re having fun enjoying your Christmas holiday, yes?
To answer your question, that’s actually a pretty tough yet interesting one for me to answer.
What would the Rosegardening Rosebuds gift each other on Christmas Day?
Hmm, well if I had to give a headcanon for it, I like the idea of Oscar gifting Ruby a silver Rose hairpiece that she starts wearing in her hair as part of her huntsmen attire.
I don’t know if you’ve ever seen my art for my Bouquet of Roses RWBY AU, but for that project I drew a design of Ruby wearing a silver rose in her hair held together by a red ribbon.
The thought I had behind that was that Oscar gave that to Ruby because it reminded him of her since she’s a Silver Eyed Warrior and her eyes were the first thing he ever noticed about her after they met for the first time.
I really, really like the idea of Ruby and Oscar giving each other gifts that either would wear as part of their huntsmen attire. With Ruby sporting Oscar’s Silver Rose in her hair as part of her outfit.
As for Oscar---Whelp I’m a sucker for the Pinehead headcanon of Oscar wearing a scarf made for him by Ruby for the obvious call-back to the Little Prince.
So yeah, if I had to envision the Rosebuds giving each other gifts, it’d be that: Ruby would give Oscar a nice golden-yellow scarf with little rose emblems handstitched into the material (another little nod to the Little Prince who’s true love was a single red rose that grew back on his home planet) while Oscar would give Ruby a silver-rose hair piece that she could wear in her hair. That’s my idea.
Hope that answers your question fam. Merry Christmas to you again!
What is the absolutely cutest, sweetest, most adorable Leokumi / Sylvix / insert and other ship here headcanon you can come up with?
Oh boy.
Leokumi: An oldie but a goodie - Leo ties one of Takumi’s hair ribbons around his wrist before he goes into battle as a reminder of what he’s fighting for. Not exactly a new headcanon since I came up with it like four years ago but it’s too adorable.
Sylvix: When they were younger Felix noticed that all of the girls Sylvain flirted with had long hair, so he grew his hair out in the hopes of being noticed. He keeps it long because Sylvain actually complimented it once. Once they’re together, Felix refuses to cut his hair below a certain length because he knows Sylvain likes it so much.
Also, this one is more sad/funny... While he was still in his “sex as self harm” stage of life, Sylvain exclusively has sex with women who looked like, or reminded him of Felix in some way. That’s why the women whose hearts he breaks tend to come after him so aggressively afterwards.
Dimidue: In Faerghus, blankets, cloaks, and other cold-weather items are pretty common gifts. Birthdays, weddings, baby showers, etc. because they’re practical and useful. Dimitri wants to learn how to sew so he can make nice things for Dedue for these occasions.
*fluffs you* Uhm... Any thoughts on Chapter 5 yet? You know I don't mind spoilers :)
Apologies for the late response! Say no more Mizu. I gotchu fam! If I’m beingcompletely honest with you, I don’t have much to say about this episode mostly in the sense that, even after processing it for an entire day, I’m still riding the high of it. I will say overall that I enjoyed this episode so I think for the most part, this time I’m just only going to mention the two key parts that I enjoyed the most about this episode, if that’s okay:
JNPR RISES
First of all, as you’ve probably seen by now from my blog—a wild cute farm boy was sighted in this episode. Naturally this made this squiggle meister very very happy.
Going in CH5 especially following the last episode, what I mostly wantedout of this new chapter on Oscar’s side was mostly to see him show up. I honestly felt like a mom whose kid went away to summer camp and hasn’t seen them in weeks. I just wanted to see Oscar to be reminded that he’s still in the PLOT (unlike certain other characters *coughsMariacoughs*). But I ended up getting more than I bargained for.
This episode showed Oscar teaming up with JNR in an all fours team battle against an Atlesian huntsmen team I’ve been waiting to make a comeback since V3.
RWBY BROUGHT BACK THE FNKI!
Seriously it was SO GREAT seeing Neon and Flynt returning. I was worried that with our heroes spending time mostly with the Ace Ops that we weren’t going to catch them at all.
Luckily Eddy Rivas came in clutch for us FNKI fans this episode. Myfavourite part of CH5 was the fight between FNKI and JNR with Oscar. It wasso good. Seeing their interactions on the battlefield. Hearing Neon roast Nora and having Nora Harry Pottering herself around the battlefield trying to catch her was awesome.
Since when can Nora use the hammer to fly around like a witch on a broomstick!? This is the first time we’ve seen that and I really really love it! Need more hammer Witch Nora!
Watching Jaune fight Flynt and Ren fight Ivory while Oscar fought the giantKobalt and seeing all three of them kick ass. The fact that FNKI lost to JNPRmade me smile because a) it shows how much JNR has indeed improved since FNKI met them during the Vytal Festival, b) it highlights how much Oscar has been improving on his own without Oz and c) it shows how well Oscar works with JNR.
Seriously this scene gave me more hope for Oscar inevitably joining JNR to revive JNPR because that’s something that this squiggle meister has been hoping for since V5. For me, one thing I’ve always wanted for Oscar is for him to gain his own place on the team beyond his role as Ozma’s current descendant in the cycle and Ozpin’s successor.
Hence why I fell in love with the theory of him joining JNR to revive their huntsmen team.
While they’ve done well on their own up until this point, admittedly JNRhas been incomplete since Pyrrha’s death. And one thing I’ve always appreciated about the JNR gang is how they always felt like a family.
I know Team RWBY is our core protagonist team but I’ve always felt more attached to JNPR and I believed them to have the stronger family rapport than RWBY.
This is why I was hoping Oscar would eventually join them. Become a part of their little family and give Oscar three brothers-in-arms that he can count on both off and on the battlefield.
I felt like Oscar would fit well with JNR. Not just because they were short one member and his last name coincidentally provides that missing “P” from JNR…but mostly because I figured Oscar would complement Jaune, Nora and Ren just much as Pyrrha did once before. Thus making the young farm boy turned little barn prince fit well within JNR.
I always liked the idea of Oscar making JNR feel whole again and reviving their group through his growing bond and comradery with each member.
Beyond that, I wanted Oscar to experience what it was like to be a partof huntsmen team since part of the enjoyment of RWBY for me was watching these characters grow close to one another over the seasons.
Becoming teammates then friends and then to a greater extent—a family. I wanted the same experience for Oscar because right now, he could really use that.
He could use more friends. He could use a family. People he could happily call his brothers and sisters. His people and I think JNR can provide that him. No, I know JNR can provide him that. JNR are ¾ of who I believed could become Oscar’s Golden Circle of most trusted confidantes (the final member being Ruby, of course) and I’m not giving up on that headcanon.
I figured that’s what the Writers were going for last season with the whole Argus subplot between Jaune and Oscar. But…well, we all know how that went. Nonetheless, maybe there’s hope for this season. I’d love for the PLOT to revisit Oscar’s departure last season and I’d like to think it could come back up for the sake of his development to come from this season. But as always we, will see how that goes.

SISTER SISTER
This episode also confirmed what most of us RWBY Theorists has been theorizing for years. Winter is going to be the next candidate for Winter Maiden.
According to the episode, Ironwood has not only been grooming Winter to become the next Winter Maiden following the passing of the old one but he’s also been grooming the Winter Maiden to choose Winter as her next successor by having Winter be the only person to interact with the old Maiden.
That’s an interesting take. I mean, my theory has always been thatIronwood wanted to control the succession of the Maidens but I figured he wouldhave done it using Atlas’ experimental aura technology. Not by literallygrooming the old candidate to pick his designated next one. It’s kind a poor way of doing it because as Oz once put it—”Maidens choose themselves”.
The only time this rule has been broken is when Maidens have been killed and their powers end up going to their assailants as opposed to someone they cared about. This also makes me curious as to what would happened should Ironwood’s plan not work with the Winter Maiden.
I remember Qrow mentioned something about the Maidens back in a previous volume regarding what would happen should a maiden not have someone to choose in mind.
I know Ironwood is trying to make the Granny Winter pick Winter but…what if…this doesn’t happen?
After all, you can’t just make a person care about someone just because she created a controlled scenario for them to force this type of bond. It doesn’t exactly work that way. While Ironwood might succeed in making Granny Winter care for Winter, I doubt he can make her care about her enough to have the powers pass onto her.
Imagine if…it becomes a case where the Winter Maiden had a daughter or a perhaps a granddaughter or great niece? Perhaps the Winter Maiden never had any children of her own since Maidens are usual chosen young. Perhaps Granny Winter has only known the life of a Maiden and has mostly lived it in isolation. However the only exception was her keeping in contact with the last family member that she had before she became a Maiden. Maybe she had a sister? Or a brother who eventually had a child of their own. A daughter.
What if…the Winter Maiden has young niece or great niece she never met. And she’s been thinking about that person for some time. Especially now that’s she on her death bed. Perhaps…Granny Winter has one dying wish that she confided in Winter? That she wanted to be reunited with her niece.
Perhaps…she confided this in Winter and she’s been keeping that little secret from even Ironwood this entire time.
Overall, this whole plot point with Winter and Granny Winter is really intriguing. And what’s more cool about is that it puts Winter more into perspective. This is the first time the show has really focused on Winter as a person; highlighting how she feels. We’ve seen Winter display a softer side to her otherwise stoic demenour but it’s usual reserved for her closest family such as her sister, Weiss.
This is the first time we’ve seen Winter show genuine care for anyone outside of her family. I wish we had gotten more time to spend with Winter and Granny Winter. It was nice to see how Winter has accepted her fate. It was also good to see just how much Winter values General Ironwood. It wouldn’t surprise me if part of the reason Winter respects the General is because she sees him as a father figure—at least a better one than her own father. I just really enjoyed that moment between Weiss and Winter. It’s very rare we see the Schnee Sisters interact so it was lovely seeing them have their moment this episode.
I know I call the Winter Maiden Granny Winter, but in actuality, her name is Fria. And one thing I’m curious about is whether or Fria will be based on the Norse Goddess of the same name?
Is Fria related to Nora?
This isn’t really a point of the episode but a theory I have based on what I learnt of the Winter Maiden. To me, the name “Fria” reminds me of “Freya”
According to research, Freya, in Norse mythology, is the Goddess of love but she is also associated with sex, lust, beauty, sorcery, fertility, gold, war and death. It is also stated that Freya shares a connection to Thor. Since Nora is RWBY’s equivalent of Thor and since it’s been teased that us fans will be learning more about Nora’s backstory soon, I’m starting to wonder if there will be an unspoken connection to Nora and Fria---the Winter Maiden.
Technically, the Maidens are the closest thing to goddesses in Remnant given their strong potency in magic. So I’m curious if at some point it will be revealed that Nora is a long-lost relative of Fria---probably her only living family member---who was stolen from her as a child by bandits who then trafficked Nora off to Mistral where she ultimately escaped her captives and wound up in Kunoyuri where she met Ren.
Imagine if...it’s a case where...Nora hasn’t seen Fria in years. Nor does she even remember her since Nora was abducted as a child so all the trauma of being kidnapped from her family forced Nora to somehow repress her past. Perhaps V7 will end on a cliffhanger note with Fria revealing to Winter her last dying wish---
To be somehow be reunited with her beloved granddaughter before she parted Remnant and returned to the Gods. And her granddaughter’s name was Nora Valkyrie.
Imagine if...V7 ends on Nora just learning that she is the granddaughter of the Winter Maiden who desperately wants to see her before she goes. But Nora becomes torn up about it since hearing about Fria causes all the repressed memories of her past to suddenly resurface after so long and for the first time since she first met Ren, Nora becomes a emotionally vulnerable and scared girl again--- unable to cope with this startling revelation and this time, it will Ren’s turn to support Nora on the qualms of her past along with Jaune (and possibly Oscar to since he is connected to the Maidens being the successor to the man who created them). I’m not sure if this will be the case in the serious.
However I am definitely down for this theory becoming canon if possible.
Nora becoming the Winter Maiden would surprisingly fit given the fact that her fairytale counterpart is an mythological god. Nora will literally become Thor if she rises to Maiden status and thunder is her element of choice.
Just picture Nora like Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. Her crystal blue-green eyes aglow with electricity surging around her body. And Nora using thunder as her element of choice as a Maiden even though she’s supposedly the Winter Maiden still fits since, technically---Cinder is the Fall Maiden and her element of choice is Fire.
Raven is the Spring Maiden and her element of choice was surprisingly Ice of all things. So Nora as the Winter Maiden using thunder. That would be purely badass!
The only gripe that I have with this theory is that Nora rising to Maiden status would put a greater death flag target on her back than her red hair. Theorists are already saying that Nora might be killed by Tyrian since in mythology, Thor was killed by a scorpion.
I personally don’t want Nora to die at all! I like and care too much about Nora as character. Raven is a Maiden and she lived. So if Nora becomes a Maiden, I expect her to live too. I’d actually be livid if Nora ends up dying especially since she’s been with us since V1. Pyrhha’s death was one thing but Nora’s...I’ll be really pissed if she gets killed off. ESPECIALLY in the event of JNPR being revived through Oscar.
So yeah, while I really want Nora to become the Winter Maiden, I don’t want her to die either. But regardless, for now I’m going to stick a pin in this theory and keep it on the table of possibilities.

Robynn Death Flags + Ace Frames
And that’s pretty much it. That’s all I have to say on CH5, Mizu. As an honourary mention, I did like seeing Robyn Hill. She was cool and I’m intrigued by her and her Happy Huntresses. I’m especially curious about her possible connection to Clover because they seemed to have history. Definitely giving me Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham vibes. But beyond that, there wasn’t much for me to say on the part with Robyn. However I am looking forward to seeing her and her huntresses in action soon.
The title of the next episode---CH6 is titled “Night Out” and our heroes are expected to be attending the Watch party for the election campaign between Jacques and Robyn.
I have a hunch that CH6 is going to be another “calm before the storm” type of episode just like CH4.
I have a feeling that Tyrian is going to probably show up during the rally targeting Robyn to kill her.
Since Tyrian is working with Watts and since Watts was shown eyeballing the Ace Ops in the opening, my theory is that Watts is going to have Tyrian either kill off Robyn or at least target her and make it look as if Clover of the Ace Ops was responsible for the hit on Robyn at the rally.
Thus making the public of Mantle believe that the Ace Ops were the ones behind all the murders of the spokespeople in Mantle like Forest. #FRWBY
I think it’s going to start with Clover first since he’s the leader of the Aces and we’ve seen more of him than his teammates.
I have a feeling that Watts plan is to use either Clover and/or the Ace Ops as martyrs to further tarnish the General’s public image through a huge scandal with Robyn.
I think Robyn is either going to die or be believed to have been killed with Clover blamed for her death.
An Ace Op---one of the General’s personal attack dogs--- accused of killing the key representative for Mantle to keep her from gaining a seat on the governing council---hence keeping Mantle out of Atlas? That’s a good scandal. One that could destroy James even further.
I still stand by my theory that Jacques plan is to usurp James and through Watts’ aid, I think there’s a huge possibility.
Unless Jacques is nothing but a perfect pawn to Watts for him to pin everything on in the end just to cover his tracks and cause an even worse scandal for Atlas with Mantle.
I dunno. These are all just theories but I’m gonna stick with them for now. In the meantime, I hope this answers your Mizu.
I challenge you to write some cute, fluffy Sylvix slice of life :) Against... No one! Isn't that great? (well, you can challenge me if you want to, but I JUST WANT A PIECE OF FLUFF, okay? Pls :x)
Merry Christmas :)
(Based on that one headcanon about Felix getting bullied and Sylvain painstakingly copying his notes for him)

____________
Felix was a lot of things. A short dork with a chip on his shoulder. An emotionally stunted, overly aggressive weeaboo. … But he was never lazy or sloppy, and he was certainly never late. Especially not for Sylvain, and especially not when the redhead was the only way he’d get home aside from walking.
He’d offered to drive his boyfriend home from school last month after he’d gotten banned from the bus for punching some kid in the face. In his defense… The guy was asking for it by teasing him about his Naruto shirt. Maybe he was a little bit biased, but anyone who would talk shit about Felix deserved a swift kick in the shins.
Ever since that little incident he’d been sure to be prompt. Sylvain had practice after school and he didn’t want to make him late. Especially not on a Friday, when they were both dying to get home and forget about school for forty-eight hours.
He checked the clock hanging up on the wall. It was only by five minutes so maybe it shouldn’t have rung any alarm bells, but something was off when Felix came down the hall toward the entrance. His typical, generally displeased expression was replaced by a deep scowl, and instead of his usual backpack he was carrying everything in his arms.
“Hey Fe, are you ready to go?”
“Yeah.”
“Where’s your backpack?”
“It doesn’t matter.” He growled.
The few loose sheets of paper ruffled as people passed them by, and he clutched them closer to his chest. Sylvain had long since learned not to expect eye contact from his best friend, but today Felix seemed particularly intent on avoiding it. His eyes remained downcast and glaring somewhere off to his left, and if he squinted he swore he could see his bottom lip quivering slightly.
“Babe… Is something wrong?”
“Look, I just left it in my locker, okay?”
“Don’t you need it? We can go back for it.”
He seemed awfully upset for just having forgotten it, and he was carrying a folder for a subject Sylvain knew he needed to go back to his locker to get.
“No.”
“No? It’s no trouble, it’s not like you need to catch the bus.”
“You’ll be late for practice.”
“Aw, c’mon. Coach doesn’t care if I’m a little late.”
“Goddess, why are you so pushy?” His boyfriend took a shaky breath. “You want to see what happened to it? Fine.”
He turned and marched back into the school before he’d even offered a response. The heels of his heavy boots stomped along the tile floors, and the few stragglers still attempting to exit the school scattered around him.
“Hey! Wait up!” Sylvain trotted after him. For someone with such short legs, Felix sure could move when he wanted to.
Felix opened his locker and shoved the offending article into his hands. It didn’t look any different at first glance. Still the same black canvas with the little symbol from whatever anime Felix told him about this time… But upon touching it, he realized what Felix meant. The bottom was soaked through with sticky liquid, and a quick peek inside revealed several notebooks and an expensive graphing calculator had been drenched.
“I don’t want to ask my old man for a replacement so…”
“I’m sorry Fe. This is all my fault.”
He’d been wondering why his ex – if she could even be called that, since they’d only spent a few nights together – had come into fourth snickering like the witch she was. His most persistent shadow never seemed to know when to let enough be enough.
“Whatever. Can you just take me home now?”
He went to snatch the bag back, but Sylvain held it up above his head. Felix didn’t bother to reach for it; He just crossed his arms over his chest and glared at him sourly.
“You don’t want this in your locker. It’ll drip over the rest of your stuff. I’ll throw it out for you on my way to practice, okay?”
“Fine. Just get me out of here.”
_______________
Okay, so maybe he was more than a few minutes late to practice. And maybe coach did mind if he was late… But whatever. He had to run to the store, and it would definitely be closed by the time he got done.
Three new notebooks: Three subject, college ruled, color coordinated. Blue for algebra, green for biology, and red for history. Oh, and a calculator. Felix was using an older model so he sprung for the upgraded version. The backpack was a little trickier, but it didn’t take him long to find a sufficiently similar one online and with two-day shipping it’d be there in time for Sunday.
Now the hard part. He spent three hours that night painstakingly pulling apart the sticky pages one by one, and another six going through every page to copy his boyfriend’s sloppy, rushed writing in neat little strokes. Thank the Goddess they were only a month into the semester, so there was much less to copy than he’d anticipated. There wasn’t much he could do for the occasional sheet of homework stuffed between the pages, but he made sure to do everything else word for word. Even the practice math problems, copied step for step.
Then when the bag arrived he packed it all neatly away and set it beside his own backpack so he wouldn’t forget it come Monday.
There was still the nagging anxiety that Felix would just talk to his dad and get a replacement, but there wasn’t much risk of that happening. The Fraldarius household was still reeling after the death of Mr. Blaiddyd, and he knew his boyfriend had gotten into more than a few fights with his father over it. What exactly about he hadn’t revealed, but if it was bad enough to come knocking on his door in the middle of the night then Sylvain knew better than to ask.
His was right not to be worried. He doubted that Felix would be shuffling off to his first class of the day with his notebooks and folders piled high in his arms if he’d been able to get a new backpack.
“Hey Felix-!” He tried pushing through the early morning rush toward him, but he didn’t seem to hear him over the din. He didn’t see him waving like an idiot either, since his boyfriend had an obnoxious habit of keeping his head down as he walked. He quickly disappeared into his first class of the day before Sylvain could push his way through the early morning crowd.
What a pain. He’d been hoping to hand it to him while they were mostly alone in the halls, but this was fine too. Slightly more embarrassing, but he wasn’t about to go through all this effort for nothing.
He marched right into the Freshman homeroom class, more than a few curious eyes staring him down, and dropped the extra backpack onto Felix’s desk.
“Sylvain! What are you doing here?”
“Thought you could use this? No need to thank me.” He offered with a wink. The girl sitting behind his boyfriend practically swooned.
“I thought you were going to throw that out?”
“I did. This one is new, see?” He rubbed his hand along the bottom and pulled away, Demonstrating that it was clearly dry. “Just take it.”
“Syl…” He pulled it into his lap and clutched the canvas bag to his chest so it wouldn’t fall when he unzipped the top. He’d set the new calculator on top of the notebooks, and it nearly fell out when he went to look inside. “You didn’t have to do this.”
“Yeah, I did…” He muttered under his breath. It was his fault that his boyfriend had to deal with all of his crazy former lovers, he deserved all the kind gestures in the world. But he was pretty sure if he said that too loudly he’d be picking his teeth up off of the floor. Instead… “And hey, maybe it’ll be enough to finally get you into bed with me?”
He waited until Felix’s eyes snapped up to meet his own before he offered him another little wink. His entire face went beet-red in an instant: the only reward Sylvain would ever need.
“You-! You asshole!”
“Love you too, babe.”
He made a swift exit before Felix could kill him, and just before the first bell rang, but he was barely five steps into the empty hallway when something slammed into his back. He stumbled forward a step and nearly toppled over, but quickly righted himself. He thought for a moment that Felix might have come out of his classroom to throw his gift back at him, but projectiles didn’t tend to cling like this. Besides, was decidedly too Felix-shaped for that. The shorter man’s arms wrapped around his middle and his cheek pressed firmly against his back between his shoulder blades.
“Thank you…” He mumbled. It was quiet and muffled by the back of his shirt, but Sylvain could feel the vibrations ring through his entire body.
“Yeah… Of course Fe.” He swallowed thickly, blush rising to his own face. How did he always manage to be so cute without trying? “Anything for you.”
