hey luka that's uhhhhh pretty cool bracelet you got in those few hours.
All my episode centric mlb art I made while season 5 was airing (in order of the episodes I drew them for)
Luka couldn’t let Adrien make his mistake.
Even though Luka knows he and Adrien were talking about Marinette hiding something even she doesn't fully understand is causing her so much distress, hearing Adrien say "I wonder if you can love someone fully if you don't know them completely", hit Luka hard since he now knows Marinette's hidden life as Ladybug interfered with their relationship back in "Truth". Luka wanted to know what she was hiding to better help her and sort out the troubles between them, but now that he knows it was Marinette's duty as a hero that left her no other choice but to end their relationship, Luka realizes that Adrien cannot afford to make the same mistake he did by constantly worrying and wondering about what Marinette could be hiding.
(Marinette broke up with Luka back in "Truth" due to the risks of her hero life)
Knowing now that Adrien and Marinette are currently unaware of each others secret identities as Ladybug and Cat Noir, Luka is worried they will face a rough patch in their relationship the more they realize they are hiding things from each other, so in order to ease Adrien's worry, Luka explains to him that its very common for someone to not know another person completely immediately, everyone acts differently when they are in the presence of others, everyone has all sorts of sides to themselves others don't know about just yet, but that doesn't change how they see each other.
Luka has all sorts of sides Adrien has not seen yet, but that doesn't change the fact that they are good friends. Adrien in turn knows people are not yet aware of his more clownish personality, its a part of himself he only tends to express when he is Cat Noir, but that doesn't change the fact that people know he is a kind hearted person. And even though Adrien is unaware of what Marinette is hiding that is causing her so much distress to the point of preventing her from accepting his affection and confessing her feelings, it doesn't change the fact that they are already aware that they love each other and want to get to know each other, its just going to take time to learn and understand the parts of each other they don't know about just yet, but they will eventually.
Aahh so we are finally addressing this!
I love the double meanings to the script for Migration:
Blatantly what the two of them need to do, to break free of this love square business.
Classic Adrien, reaching out to support her, as Adrien or as Cat Noir.
Marinette trying to do it all alone, as usual...but you know, in a way, she does need to figure things out for herself...with support. Every time someone says to Luka, ‘What would I do without you?’ I think, ‘It’s important to have people you can speak to, but you also have to be responsible for yourself.’
If by ‘keys’ you mean ‘Marinette’, then yeah, totally.
This was beautiful because Adrien feels like he’s finding himself, at last, and only worries about Marinette because he can see that she’s struggling with something that’s making her unhappy. He doesn’t need her to be perfect. He just wants her to feel happy.
Obviously, this was all about Marinette’s secret identity (without Adrien being aware of it). What I really liked was this scene that happened later, between Luka and Ladybug...
She didn’t hear him the first time he called her Marinette - but this line meant more than just that. She’s often so caught up in her worries or schemes that she doesn’t hear what others around her are saying (think of Season 4 when Cat offered to be a listening ear after her breakup with Luka, but she kept brushing him off).
But more than that - she’s not listening to herself, to her inner music.
That’s what this whole episode was about. When victims got hit and turned into records, they sang their inner songs.
Gold Record quipped, ‘In space, no one can hear you sing.’ Aside from being a reference to ‘Alien’, it also made me think no one can hear your inner music if you hide away in a vacuum. That’s kind of what Marinette’s been doing. She’s afraid to face herself.
I have more to say on that, but I’ll keep it in another post before this gets overly long.
Please no post-Migration spoilers in the comments - I am watching in order. Thank you :)
S5 is such a great season to have Felix, Kagami and Luka as your Top 3 💜❤️💙
i wish when ladybug and chat noir were together with luka at the end of the akuma battle he wouldve visualized them as marinette and adrien. the reverse of what happened earlier
