Mokuton Sakura AU!!!

So this is inspired by thoes fanfics where Sakura awakens the Mokuton or the Wood release jutsu!

Did you know that Sakura has natural Water and Earth Chakra natures!!! The only other cannonical person to have these was Hashirama, (lord first, and i think lord second, tobirama)! Both sakura and him also have the Yin and Yang Release!

So idk i think it would have been great to see her reinvent the jutsu because she also has canonical almost perfect chakra conrol when she is a genin

I think that this would also take place after the forest of death when sasuke and naruto were on their training trips! Shes a smart cookie and i think that moment was a big one gor her to start training :D

I like to hc Naruto as having “mokuton”, an Uzumaki version of it, by which I mean it’s more plant-style than just wood style, but wood is included in it (it’s Uzumaki style because he’s an Uzumaki)

And there’s so many reasons for this hc, but I’m just gonna give a few:

• I like to imagine Naruto awakens it accidentally by growing a tomato plant, and Sasuke loves tomatoes, so for the longest time that’s the only thing Naruto practices using it for (making tomatoes for Sasuke) and he doesn’t stop to think about how it could probably be used in other ways (he’ll occasionally make other plants, but making tomatoes and all their varieties is what he has locked down)

(Low key Sasuke is the same way, that’s just Naruto’s tomato jutsu, used for making tomatoes, doesn’t once occur to either of them to actually explore what else Naruto can do, he makes tomatoes what else is needed?)

• Because it’s plant-style instead of just wood-style, it takes Naruto forever to associate it with Hashirama and Yamato’s mokuton

He has plant-style, yes it includes wood, trees are plants, but it’s not wood-style, this is different. it’s plant-style with wood

• Makes me wanna cry less when I think of tiny Naruto not being taken care of by anyone only knowing how to boil water, because he’ll always have tomatoes and random other fruit plants he likes

(Also like to hc that because Naruto is always feeding Sasuke tomatoes that Sasuke gets food for Naruto to pay him back, two little orphans taking care of each other 🥺)

Mokuton sakura is touchy cause. It CAN be well written as an au and stuff, but I have no interst in any actual cannon theory, and lots of people use it as kind of an excuse to not write her being a basass in her own regard, which is disapointing lol. she worked REALLY hard to be where she is, and it's a REALLY big part of her character!!! you can't write her EXACTLY THE SAME but with the mokuton, she'd act different!! but moegi like. might as well. sure. it's funny. it's cute. its whatever. I'll take it for the bit. 

Like I GET the temptation to give Sakura a Cheat Code Broken Ability because, yeah. probably the only reason she doesn't have one while EVERYONE ELSE ON HER TEAM DOES is sexism. that's a fair point. I get the frustration, especially in younger writers, but. it's STILL true that undermining ALL that cannon literally makes her a different character. and that's fine if that's what you're doing but....it has to be what you're doing.

realizing that if i want to read the very specific mokuton!sakura fic where she leverages her canonical studiousness to work out from first principles exactly what Weird Chakra Bullshit™ hashirama did to his body and replicate it in an act of hubristic shinobi mad science, i'm gonna have to write it myself

Mokuton headcanons!! Every mokuton user has the ability to create new species of flora, over the years this has accidentally lead to the growth and kulling of new, invasive plants. Though once the user gets older they have more control over their powers and, oftentimes, take requests from nobles to grow new and exotic one-of-a-kind species specifically for them. When Hashirama was younger he accidentally ( very slightly ) poisoned an elder by attempting to grow and dry his own green tea to create the highest quality possible, but just ended up making the guy sick because it was so potent. Whenever Senju children wanted somewhere to play they would run and find Hashirama, who would then create elaborate playgrounds and hide-and-seek arena's for them to play in for a little while before he had to take them down. Somehow, he managed to set fire to Butsuma's very precious Bonsai tree, Tobirama was the only witness to the crime. Hashirama grew the tree back and he forced Tobirama to take a vow of silence about the events. When Hashirama gets too whiny it's one of the first embarrassing tales Tobirama brings up (and is also immediately shut down by Hashirama).

Obito's Mokuton dies quickly after he spawns it; the combination of his innate katon and the mokuton results in dry, thorny, and twisting plant spawns, which is why he can't use it like Hashirama and Yamato

i think summoning and controlling wood is just the base skill of the mokuton (alongside boosted regen), and there is a whole subset of other skills that relate to sealing and suppression and cleansing that Obito simply can not access and thus he cannot gain mastery over the Mokuton nor use it on a large scale like Hashirama
