I really liked how packed “Monument Point” was as an episode. Sometimes, this show moves somewhat slowly, and it’s nice to see the pace pick up.

took me long enough

...but I'm almost caught up on Arrow! I just have the season finale left, which I’ll watch tomorrow. I’m really scared to watch this one, because I have heard literally nothing good about it. I’ve got a couple thoughts/quotes from the past few episodes that i’ll be posting shortly. tomorrow, as I watch the finale, it’ll be much more like my regular Post Arrow Thoughts.

Yeah, and now Noah will be hero and Felicity will forgive him sooner or later.

I love how Donna said exactly what should be said. She might be constructed as dumb blonde, but she’s clever in her own way, and sees things more clearly than most other characters. I know it’s not easy being that kind of person, always being considered as unrealistic and naive... but aren’t lies main problem in Arrow? Especially Oliver’s lies? It has to be repeated over and over, until somebody at last will understand.

Arrow: Monument Point: Reaction (Spoilers)

The plan is in motion and hard choices will have to be made.

I’ve heard of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” but the enemy of my enemy is my ex-fiance’s father. Despite the group’s mixed feelings towards Noah Kuttler, even Felicity knows he’s their best chance of dealing with HIVE. Kuttler attempts to use all that time to get into Felicity’s good graces but no dice. When you’ve been abandoned by said father for your whole life and he’s trying to use a highly stressful situation to his advantage it’s pretty difficult to give him time for a heart-to-heart. At least he was willing to take that shot to protect Felicity and is doing is part to keep the missiles from launching.

Fired: I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Dennis did a happy dance in his office after getting Felicity fired so I can’t feel too bad that Felicity and crew raided Palmer Tech though maybe she and Noah should’ve followed Oliver’s example and dressed for espionage since I can only imagine how many fingerprints they left all over the tech. This is why you wear gloves during attempted noble appropriation. Side note: we haven’t seen much of Curtis lately though considering the circumstances it’s probably best for him not to be in the middle of all this.

Anarky Back: Hello again Lonnie Machin. . Oh yeah, Malcolm too. He really doesn’t seem to get the concept of “stay the hell away from me” from Thea. Granted, her being in Tevat Noah can be fruitful once she can make contact with Team Arrow but she’s keeping busy keeping Machin from killing the innocents HIVE saw fit to keep safe. One thing that comes to mind though during these “protect only a few to restart the world” situations in fiction: there would be a lot of work to do for with such a limited population. If you protect only the elite then you eliminate people with trade knowledge like carpenters, plumbers, custodians, etc. Let’s not take forget restoring the population which would be difficult with such a limited surviving group but I digress. It is really disturbing to hear Machin call Thea “Mommy” and it’s not helping that Thea is willing to help him take down Darhk though that offer may be off the table since Machin zapped Alex and it doesn’t seem like he survived.

Consequences: 20,000 dead in place of millions. On paper and to the late Amanda Waller those sound like acceptable losses in the grand scheme of things but to Felicity, it’s 20,000 lives lost including families and children. She’s already going to feel bad enough that she had to make the hard call so I’m really not looking forward to possible backlash regarding this decision. Like any hero she will focus on the losses but they may have been lost anyway if the missile hit the intended target. Cold, I know but I pray she will use that loss to spur herself on to taking down HIVE so she doesn’t have to go through that again.

Next Time: Time for a rescue mission but it seem like the target may not be coming along quietly.

Wait. Why couldn’t Felicity adjust the Monument Point GPS coordinates to somewhere in the middle of an ocean? Not enough time for that big an adjustment? Show your work please, writers.
