Cass Moon armor concept art (X)
Is this purple-ish crystal from S4 supposed to be a moon opal??
I'm honestly not sure. Stella seems very... full of purpuse here. And Bait is dismayed
Now look at the moon opal Callum picks up when N'than is explaining about he different crystals:
It's darker, bluer and slightly multi-colored in a way that the gem Stella pilfers just isn't. Stella goes for a crystal that had a purple tinge and no hint of spots where it reflects multicolored light. Is that relevant?? It feels relevant. Maybe it's just a moon opal that will come in handy at some point... But maybe it's not?
Please people help, am I crazy??
Some angsty moon!Var concepts from a bit ago.
This is in a “the DK was never evacuated and Eugene and Varian grew up there” AU. The moonstone is absolutely sentient, takes a liking to Varian, who was interested in studying it, and proceeds to forcibly bond to Varian, who does not know what is happening.
Runaan and Ethari's pendants are like mini one use only primal stones. Moon magic presumably needs the moon, but Runaan used the pendant to cast that illusion in the daytime, without the moon, like how callum used sky magic "without a storm or strong breeze." using the sky stone. I just really love the idea that Ethari is so skilled that he's rediscovered ancient forgotten magic that no one knows how to do anymore by making those pendants to protect his assassin hubby. My boy's a genius.
Ethari is absolutely a genius, anon! He’s so clever and creative. I was over the moon when I saw that he’s got his own personal library right in his workshop. My boy’s a curious nerd who wants to look deeper than just illusions, and that bodes ever so well for his future!
So I kind of hate to tell you that this moon opal enchantment tech isn’t exclusive to Ethari, as far as we know. It was mentioned in one of the TDP interviews last year that this is a known method of using primal magic--known but not common, because it takes time and effort to imbue gemstones with primal magic. IIRC a few gems were listed, as if each possibly belonged to a different elven race as their preferred gem of choice, but I don’t know if they ever said that for sure.
The fun part is that, sure, it’s primal magic in a nonliving receptacle, but just like Claudia and her tentacles and spiders, you still gotta squish it with your hand to let the magic out.
It’s still not a shortcut like Claudia’s way, though. It does take a while to create these gems in their magic form. What I want to know is whether Ethari enchanted the moon opals himself!
Rayla: This is a beloved relic given to me by my parental figures which I am passing to you as a symbol of my love and memory
Callum, five minutes later: WOOHOO magic fun!
cant stop drawing her
Cassandra is one of those characters I love to hate. And this is a good thing, you need someone bad to make a story more interesting? Shes a complex sort. Someone who basically started as a good person, and then you see her becoming the villian. Usually you dont see the "before", you just see the after, or hear of the legend of some great evil. All the more interesting is how stupid shes being. She threw away anything important becuase it "wasent enough". She feels she derserves something for all her suffering. Newsflash? The world doesent work like that. Life doesent owe you anything, it doesent matter if your a great or stupid person, the world doesent NEED anyone. It just is, it keeps moving regardless of what happened. And you dont do things just to get rewarded. You'll be mighty dissapionted Shes blaming everyone else for her mistakes, throwing chance after chance of them giving her a way out, even sneering at them. When shes only this powrful due to something she obtained. Nothing to do with her, its like giving a child a machine gun? How "great" she is becuase of it. For lack of a better comparsion, shes just a bully hiding behind a great power. It'd be rather satisfying seeing it crash around her. "Its not my fault, everyone else is to blame, its there fault!" etc etc There cant have been much good to begin with, really, if you think about it either. It was so easy for her to be manipulated. Trusting a mysterious ghost girl over her "suppposed" friends. Seems that friendship was one sided, yet she still expects that kind of loyalty from others? There cant have been much there to begin with. All the more interesting is how much shes like her mother. As long as she gets what she wants no one else matters. Shes very selfish. No matter what you do its not good enough, shes always the scorned party. Everyone else is the bad guy, despite shes been proven willing to hurt them, when they hesitate. Shes left them no chioce. Even after finding out she was manipulated, fed a bunch of lies, shes still sticking to her guns and being a fool. Calling it "destiny". In short trying to make exscuses and justify bad behaviour, justify being a horrible person. I wonder what could happen. There are many possibilites. I doubt its gonna be something like "I was a double agent this whole time". I can imagine mayby, her dieing. Either dieing a villain, or have a one last attempt of doing something GOOD? Mayby throwing herself in harms way to protect Rapunzel. Her getting defeated or sealed away. Whatever happens if its bad will be her own fault, cant say she doesent deserve it. Or mayby relaising what she did, but unable to stay. Going on a journey to find herself? Mayby come back after shes actually changed for the better, if she can, and if she cant even begin to make up for what shes done. Lets see.
