nothing fucked up my relationship to medical procedures quite like my mother. from her "anesthesia takes ten years off your life every time they put you under and also you might wake up during a procedure and be unable to tell the doctors" to her telling me "i have a 'do not resuscitate' on my medicalert bracelet" when i was like 16 years old with a 13 year old sister, she has made it so i can barely read about successful surgeries to try and allay my fears without me having an immediate anxiety response. fucking goddammit this woman ruined my fucking liiiiife
