As the cloud cover cleared, this stunning view revealed itself, giving me a glimpse of the ridgetops over the frosty treeline. The view of these snow dappled vistas is from the Mountains to Sea Trail above the parkway looking east.
It was such a stunning sight to see this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway covered in snow at a Mountains to Sea Trail crossing near Brevard, NC. After emerging from the trail to continue the trek south; the road, covered in deep snow drifts in spots, was much easier to navigate after the rugged terrain of the trails. Inspired by this view, I decided to keep going in an attempt to make it to one of our favorite trees only a few miles away.
The call of the snowy Mountains to Sea trail was impossible to ignore. Tracks from hikers that passed days before remain but I found myself making the first tracks of the day through this other-worldly winter wonderland as I trekked south on the Blue Ridge Parkway from 276 near Brevard, North Carolina.
One of my top breathtaking destinations on the East Coast is Linville Gorge.
