Frame redraw c0m for my little sibling-in-law of the grand USOPP POUND!!! Did this as a custom card sleeve for them, making this the second time I’ve done a custom One Piece TCG card/sleeve for them. It was fun translating this horizontal scene into a vertical one while still keeping the weight and momentum of the moment.

The One Piece LA cast coming together and Miss Merry Christmas and Mr. 4 still not showing up
Some people are saying there were issues with special effects or budget constraints, and maybe I’m missing a few behind the scenes details, but I genuinely need to ask. Did Chopper alone eat up the entire quota or something? Because nearly everyone’s respective fight counterpart has been cast. Mr. 1, Doublefinger, Bon Clay, Crocodile. Yet Miss Merry Christmas and Mr. 4 are still missing
I’m choosing to hope it’s because those roles are being played by known film actors and they’re holding them back as a surprise. Or maybe, finally, Usopp gets the sniper fight with Mr. 7 and Miss Father’s Day. Yes, the ones that were never properly used in Alabasta and still haven’t been cast. Eye roll. That was a missed opportunity in the manga and anime, and this would be the perfect time to correct it.
What I do not want is people coming out of season 2 saying it was amazing but Usopp was the weakest link again, or that this somehow proves his design sucked like people claimed in season 1. Jacob Gibson deserves better. I’m not joking. I really don’t want to see Usopp stuck in a recycled fight setup paired with Nami or Sanji like bfr.
Steven and Matt need to do right by Jacob. If there are obstacles when it comes to adapting Usopp’s canon material, then compensate by giving him something meaningful. Give him a missed opportunity. Give him something new that emphasizes his growth. Give fans a moment where they can say, “We didn’t even get this in the manga or anime, but the live action delivered.”
Because if his role gets cheapened in the live action, I swear I will go complain on TikTok and y’all will finally see what I look like. I’m being dramatic. Mostly. But I’ve already explained in another post why I take this personally. I’m not trying to be negative. I just have reasons that go beyond canon.
