🎬 Monster (Anime)
There are lot of things I love about Mr Grimmer, but one thing in particular is how his character directly opposes the notion that humans are inherently 'bad'/'selfish'. We know, of course, that after the horrible experiments at 511 Kinderheim he's had to relearn how to 'appropriately' behave and express himself. We know that he struggles with feeling (and remembering) things. And yet, he doesn't become this 'bad' person. He isn't 'selfish'. He is someone who made an active choice to help others and subsequently care about them, even if he couldn't quite 'experience' that care in the most appropriate of ways. The way he cries when he sees Milos broken and despaired and tries to convince him that he does matter shows that deep down, he is not only human but a human whose goodness and selflessness outshines the potential 'bad' qualities he very easily could've developed AND retained after his life experiences. His character presents the image of the human being as someone who is just as capable of relying on their 'good', empathetic qualities for survival as they are capable of the opposite. His character shows that this reliance can run so deep that even the supposed 'monster' within or attached to the individual is activated only in the most dire of moments to heroically protect rather than harm the innocent for selfish purposes.
Most special mention to the most amazing character who I wish had lived. (Had to include this from the previous post because yes)
Wolfgang Grimmer.
Loved this man.
Hated what happened.
Until the end, this man.
He made me feel so much things and understand so much about so many things.
He smiled but, you know the gist.
Fuck, how I wish he had lived.
When he cried at the end. Saying that he's crying because his kid died.
In general, the character execution. The magnificent Steiner. Wow.
In the final episode of Magnificent Steiner, he becomes a human.
Rest in peace, Wolfgang Grimmer.
I'll always remember you.
And also : It’s impossible for humans to forget their emotions.
You were always a human. The things you went through, you survived, and the path you chose, everything, the good, the bad, the anger and the sadness, the things you didn't feel and learned to imitate thinking you don't feel. All of your journey, in the end.
Everything about you was human.
You being the person you were with kids, the kindness you had, you selecting the path of human rights, it was you.
You were the kindest human.
And even if the kindness was an imitation, i wish people imitated it the way you do.
For even that, would be the greatest kindness of all. For it was in reality, never an imitation.
You were kind, truly kind, always kind.
Some of his dialogues and pictures⬇️
Do you have any idea how terrible the things you did really mean? Do you understand what it means to destroy a human being’s sense of good and evil? Can you even begin to comprehend what happens when you awaken the monster inside each us? People should know in their hearts that food tastes good. They should always look forward to having picnics and wonderful places on their weekends. They should think that beer tastes good after a hard day’s work. People should know how they should feel, that they’re supposed to grieve, from the bottom of their hearts when they have to bury their own child.”
“As long as we are under the same sky, we shouldn’t be sad when we part ways.”
“It’s impossible for humans to forget their emotions.”
“Everyone in this world carries around their own sins, and they never go away…but that doesn’t change the fact that we do what we must.”
“You can’t just erase people’s feelings. It’s as if my emotions were lost somewhere hundreds of miles away. It’s as if they were sent long ago, in a letter that was always intended for me.”
"In the last episode of the Magnificent Steiner he probably turned back into a normal human being."
Wolfgang Grimmer. You. Such a warm character. With such a heartbreaking past. Warm hugs for you. I wish you lived.

I have been quite obsessed with this anime for a few months taking my time to watch the whole thing. And I will say I am highly impressed! This anime was very well developed everything from the plot to the characters. I also love that even though there are primary characters there are a lot of secondary characters as well giving the show an ensemble feel. and almost every character is adequately developed.
The plot is very unique and watching the show (with the exception of the last episode) The beginning and end of the show are so completely contrasting it’s hard to believe that it’s the same show. In fact the reason that I started watching the show was because I saw one of the ending episodes and it intrigued me so much I started watching from the beginning and I was flabbergasted that there was so many twists and turns That got them to the ending point.
But of course the show is not perfect. The only things that I’ve had a gripe with is that the show does develop pretty slowly it’s not a very action based anime. All of the developments are mostly subtle and connections start to be made more like a conspiracy show rather than an action one. I also was it a big fan of the ending episode because I didn’t get the answers that I wanted. But that is because I went through this whole long 74 episode journey and wanted all my questions answered. Most of them are answered but you will be left at the end with some lingering questions which for me gets frustrating.
Overall I would rate this Anime a 9/10 It is a long and satisfying ride this anime could rival most crime dramas now. I’m surprised it’s not as mainstream as it deserves to be. It definitely is a gem and is personally one of my favorites. If you liked animes like Death Note and Joker Game I would recommend.
