So guess who’s going on a new drug to treat nausea and reflux? Me! I had an honest conversation during my appointment with palliative care yesterday that I am not coping with my nausea and reflux at all. It’s making me miserable and impacting my quality of life; so, we’re gonna treat it. I had to come of my Ranitadine a few weeks ago (they’re completely unavailable as they’ve been found to contain a carcinogen 😳), and since we weren’t actually sure how much of my nausea and reflux was driven by the opioids and how much was my body, I decided to give it a few weeks to see how things go... the answer is NOT GOOD 🙈😂! I feel like I have a fucking volcano 🌋 in my oesophagus! My reflux has always been impressive (it can actually burn my throat) but now it’s supersonic. I’m a bit disappointed that my nausea is still here now the opioids are out; I was kinda hoping to blame that one on the drugs 😂 turns out it’s my body! Anyways, there’s a drug my dr wants me to go on long term, but you can only get it via hospital prescription which is literally impossible rn (she’s tried for several other patients before me with no joy) so I’m going on this drug instead! It’s called *checks notes* Domperidone. It’ll hopefully settle this awful reflux and nausea. It’s normally only used short term (like for a week) but palliative care can prescribe it longer. I’ll probably be on this til we can get the other drug. Our plan is to start at the highest dose for a week to get things under control, then try to reduce it from 3 times a day to once. We’re also keeping my current antisickness in the pot for really bad days. Even though I haven’t started it yet (we’re waiting on my delivery) I already feel better just knowing there’s something we can do. I’m grateful every dam day to have such an amazing doctor who actually listens to me! #nauseasucks #refluxsucks #iadoremydoctor #antisicknessdrugsforthewin https://www.instagram.com/p/CCZa-lFjke2/?igshid=1chmieyqlnaa2
