I did a thing this past weekend!! The song is Fever by Peggy Lee (arrangement by Robyn Adele Anderson) and I made my dress.

The fabric is a red stretch velvet and I hand applied the red rhinestones to the skirt and bodice straps. I started on this last Saturday - Drafting the corset and making the bodice, the skirt was finished by Monday and I finished the rhinestone application on Wednesday! I would say it took me about 25 hours to complete (most of which was applying the rhinestones with tweezers) and I wore it to sing in twice - I have a problem with the concept of moderation, I'll find another place to wear it, it's fine! I'm pretty proud of this performance (and yes they cut the lights when I “blew out the candle” aka the mic), enjoy!

This year for Halloween I was Azems summoning circle. Immensely proud of how this turned out and that I get to summon my friends from around the world on a regular basis.

Made a fantastically fabulous outfit for a parade! It’s called the Cattywampus Puppet parade and it’s delightfully colorful and joyful! The theme was “Where the waters meet” and I decided to embrace the iridescent mermaid-esque aesthetic for myself and making my jellyfish umbrella. I made this in about a week- the top is a stretch taffeta and the skirt is a color shift taffeta.

I patterned the outfit myself and the scale like embellishments are from scraps (I recently costumed a local colleges production of Grease and Beauty School Dropout costumes I made had a lot of scraps!)

that I painstakingly cut squares out individually from the remnants and hand applied to the bodice.

The additional embelllishments are pearls, glass mosaic squares, rhinestones, tulle, and organza ribbon.

My best friend joked that I now have the basis of a Vaporeon Gijinka cosplay for the future and he’s not wrong!

As continual motivation to work on cosplays I have been documenting the process of making this one by @mayakern

I’m editing the original slightly just for my own body limitations but I’m staying pretty close to the source picture!

I got about 3 yards of power mesh which is a fabric that has a four way stretch and I’m using it as the base for my bodice. I sewed it onto a bra because trying to make feathers conform to boob shape without it sounded like hell

Then I attached it to my dress form and got to work. When I was working on my Azem summoning circle dress I bought a silicone mat that’s usually used for baking, because it’s perfect to keep hot glue from sticking to surfaces. I put that under the mesh and started the very long process of applying feathers with hot glue. These are cruelty free feathers primarily (I got some from craft stores and online before I looked into types of feathers and how not to suck while using them) and the hardest part of the process is honestly taking the little fluffy bits off Every. Single. Feather.

And now it’s just repeat ad nauseam

I’m slowly working on the back but I have to figure out how to fasten this top before I add the feathers because if I’m doing a zipper I need to arrange the feathers accordingly. Next reblog will be the necklace I made when I can get pictures of it!

I went to england to see my sister graduate from Cambridge with her MBA and my @mayakern skirts were a staple in my adventures! They're so comfy and with such big pockets I was able to travel without a purse most days and still keep all my stuff with me! I own so many more than this little vacation snippet, just wanted to share the fantasticness <3

Did a thing!! So much fun and it sounds so beautiful. Everyone is so talented and seeing Alphinaud and Alisaies VAs singing with us made me tear up.

Got to see Hadestown with friends last weekend! @dorian-mode and I took our theatre selfie as per usual. I’ve listened to it but seeing it was amazing. Astoundingly beautiful show, both visually and musically. I loved it.
