Whispers: The United States of Christ on Kindle Vella
Thirteen years ago a radical religious group bribed and blackmailed three Supreme Court Justices to control the outcome of the civil rights case Obergefell v. Hodges. After their success in swaying the opinion of the court, the emboldened fanatics set their sights on the White House.
Seven years after the bloody, Inauguration Eve coup, The United States of America no longer exists as a democracy. In 2028 things like freedom, liberty, and justice for all are just words without meaning, relics of the past.
For months there have been rumors that the madman in the White House has cancer, and will be dead before the new year. But his puppet masters are still alive and well, overseeing and controlling the daily lives of the People.
Welcome to The United States of Christ!
A cautionary tale set in an alternate Dark America
"This story feels timely and personal on so many levels for me, and I won't lie, I cried as I wrote the prologue and first chapter."

Was the Joining unexpected? No. It was hinted at the 3rd book that there is a probability of a polygamous relationship. Did I want it to happen? No. Was it necessary for the three to be involved? In my opinion, I would also say No.
As a reader and as a fan, since this is written in a dual point of view, I expected that it would concentrate on the character development of the lead characters both as an individual and as a couple but for me, it felt like this became a Poppy-Kieran development with Cas having his own side story. One was suffering on his own while the other two, albeit worrying for the former, were also trying to figure out how they felt for one another.
When Cas got back to them, I thought he would sort of dive into a more emotional and mental obstacle after what happened to him and most especially with Malik's return. This could have been a perfect opportunity for his character development as well as his relationship with Poppy and the others but that wasn't interpreted further. Instead, we were thrusted directly to the topic of Joining.
I do get it why some fans are mad with this new progress because this just complicated things especially with Poppy and Cas being heartmates. If the two decided to have children in the future, what then of Kieran? If Kieran finds his heartmate, should we expect another "sexually open-minded" Joining again between the four of them? This somehow just made the romantic build-up between Poppy and Cas invested on the first 2 books feel of a little to no value, which is disappointing.
I know it's all about embracing sexuality but I don't think it was necessary. Also, I was really hoping to see Kieran find his true love and have that Joining solely with him/her but I guess his character had been robbed of that chance. Or who knows, maybe Jennifer would still be able to salvage the plot of the series in the last 2 books.
Share your thoughts on the comment section cause I'd love to hear them too. :)
