Teen Parent Donnie AU Thoughts

Donnie's knowledge of children mostly came from research and media. He knows what a baby would need to nurture them, but he also knows they can be messy, noisy, whiny, and incredibly invasive thanks to films and shows portraying kids in a negative light. In other words, it'd just be a smaller Mikey.

His only experience with children came from Casey's little sister, and even then, he kinda avoided her because he didn't know what to do with her. He mostly left it to his family to hang out with her.

Donnie is well aware that his lab is no place for a baby, (and he does not need any of his brothers to tell him something he already knows-) so that's why he usually leaves his baby with Splinter when he wants to work but he will let his brothers, April, and Casey babysit if Splinter's busy.

Ironically, he trusts Raph and Casey the most to babysit.

If nobody can help, Donnie will bring his baby into the lab (once he puts everything dangerous away. He isn't stupid). He'll instead work on harmless projects that won't potentially blow up.

He will, however, work with the baby close by like this. How else can he make sure it won't suddenly wander off? (Yes, Leo freaked out.)

Donnie discovered his welding torch makes for a good white noise machine because it made that baby fell asleep right away.

Because his ninja reflexes are top tier, he tends to always pull his baby away from anything harmful/keep accidents from happening.

He did consider leaving his bedroom so the baby could have it, but Donnie slept with the baby on his chest one night, and that became their whole routine. The room is still his, it just belongs to his kid too.

Having a baby was still a big change to his life in many aspects.

Any big projects he had in mind or opportunities he could get in a society that's slowly becoming friendly to mutants have been delayed or had to be declined simply because his own child had to come first

Both allies and enemies look at him differently now if they learn he has a baby. He's no longer just the smart guy of the team, now being defined by having a child comes first (and Donnie hates it)

Donnie is rightfully (depending on the situation) more open to harming his enemies now. If they somehow find out that he had a kid and were stupid enough to try and threaten its life, they'll be lucky to just leave with broken bones.

Unfortunately, Donnie is not the best parent. He's decent enough but he's still a kid himself. He has snuck out a few times to hang out with Casey and April so he can enjoy himself, he's not into watching his baby all the time and he just leaves others to do all the playtime stuff

He comes to Splinter for advice when nobody's expecting him to ask. Usually it's just because he wants his father to help him without judging him.

Donnie isn't a big fan of being called dad or any title like that. Once his baby starts talking, they're on a first name basis. (Besides he was pretty happy when his baby's first word was "Donnie")

That's all I have for now, but I'll probably go into more another time if anyone's interested in this brainrot idea.

TMayNT Day 31: Redraw of day one. (Original prompt was: the turtles in you favourite style.)

Ok there are so many ways my brain is trying to be critical BUT I am proud of myself for finishing one of these challenges, no matter what. I've tried and failed to commit to so many projects.

Just to clarify: my own style is NOT my favourite style. I am far too self critical for that. I just entirely ignored the prompt ^^

So for one thing I did want to de-centre Leo a bit, cause the original day 1 prompt was favourite turtle and I DO love them all, Leo just has a special place to me. I also wanted them to not be floating.

Now I do prefer some parts of the original, mainly the simplicity. I do want to try and aim for a more simplified style in the future (if I can stop defaulting to the style I have atm). I might have gone a little overboard with the lighting on the more recent one. STFU up brain, I did not get worse. But it was fun. I think it's good to explore and practice parts of the art process even if it isn't something you want to stick to. I do think I learnt a lot of stuff and made some improvements over the month.
